So havent worked on my 87 in a long time, but my gf decided to pick this up for me Another 1987 short bed, OEM roll bar right out of 1987. 6.5inches of lift on 33s. 5 speed. 3.55 gearing 30/35 combo. Going to drive it as is than throw my 8.8 and 35s on it down the road.

Little updates. Got all the exterior lights working. Swapped over a full gauge cluster from my 89 xj. Bought a flowmaster 50 for it. P/o told me the brakes were shot. This is what i find when going to put new caliper, pads and rotors. So now it runs, drives and stops.Have been test driving it and seems to be idleing high at stop signs after running it for about 10 minutes. Also has terrible idle at start up. Guess clean the IAC and work my from there!

Mines 4 years older than me. And my other comanche was born on April 23 1992

:hijack: I'm also in the same boat. I have 35s waiting to go on, Ive got a 8.8 so thats no problem running 4.88. The only thing with the hp30 is 4.88 the pinion gets tiny. Which ive heard could fail easier from being its size. :dunno: ....But as for the chrysler 8.25 the only company that makes 4.88 is nitro gearing

1987 shortbed 4.0 aw4 231. Flowmaster muffler. Metric ton dana 44 rear and 44 front thats all they say. Sititng on 37s

Maybe its just my location, They also think a stock xj dana 44 is $500 :roll:

What I've been getting told for $250 is fenders, turn signals lenses,header, bezels, grill and headlight wiring harness. And this all from people parting out. I still have to make a trip to the u pull it, but usually there newer cherokees are stripped.

So around 150$, I've got craiglist people trying to get me for $250

To everyone that has swap to the 97+ front end, How much did you ended up getting the whole deal for such as bezels, grill, header, fenders, etc for?

So I adressed the inner fender ground and the instrument panel ground. Now have all blinkers working. The bulb i stole off my cherokee for the brake lights was only single filament. :fool:

Ok so I did the cluster swap from dummy lights to gauges. After doing the swap, I noticed that now when I hit the brake pedal the cluster lights light up with them. And in the middle of the swap somehow my passenger side blinker started working, now nothing. :hmm: I'm going to guess it could be the ground that's in the brace next to the colum. :wall:

:hijack: I have a 8.8 also, waiting to be put under my 87. The d-window rims i have are 4in b/s, will I still need spacers?

Thanks for the responses. I made a new ground for the brake lights, connected the connection on the pedal and replaced the hazzard fuse. So I've got 4ways and brakes now :clapping:.

I'm also in south jersey , i just heard theres a comanche in shortys u pull it in williamstown.

I ran the double sheer one my cherokee at 6.5inch. I liked it. Never gave me a problem and is beefy. And its going to be swapped over to the mj when the time comes

Just using the stock lights. The brake lights are also out ,but i still have to check the ground behind the rear fender

Replace those also with ones from my xj. I'm going to give it anoter try with new ones

I've checked and replaced correct fuses from my donor xj. Didn't do the trick. I'll turn the headlights on and the parking and turn signal lights come on solid. When I pull the turn signal swtich, theres no sound or lights that show up on the cluster. Also no 4 ways either. What's the best way to trouble shoot these problems?
