The MancheMetal Project
Glenn Moyer replied to HeavyMetal's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
WOW, you did a great job on that MJ! That color is fantastic for it! Glenn -
The lift handle for the seat position is in the way for that. It looks like you would have to go down under the handle and back up to the other rail.

Can wheel spacers be trusted completely?
Glenn Moyer replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Incommando ! -
The MJ brackets are narrower than the 95 XJ brackets by 5".
-
I was given 2 bucket seats from a 95 XJ 2 door, but the seat rails are approximately 11" apart. my 89 MJ brackets are 6" between the rivets side to side. Has anybody run into this on a bench seat to bucket swap. Looks like the only solution would to be cut my bracket and extend it under the lever to move the seat forward/backward. Just want another opinion before I booger up a perfectly good bracket! Glenn

Can wheel spacers be trusted completely?
Glenn Moyer replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have spacers on the rear axles, but can they be put on the front. Just completed a 4X2 to 4X4 swap and have to get it aligned. But if they could be put up front i'd want to install them first. Glenn -
Since the time I bought my 89 Comanche it's leaned to the left. Looks as though a 500# guy is sitting in the drivers seat. And NO I'm not that big! (yet)LOL It can't be in the suspension. I've replaced the front coils and also installed coil spacers. Put in a metric ton rear spring pack with a dana 44 rear end. Drop shackels. And there is still a 1.25 difference between the left and right side. Exactly the same difference between the front and rear. I got these measurements from the floor to the center bottom of the wheel flares. Any help? Thanks Glenn

2.5L 2wd to 4wd...What all gets added?

2.5L 4X4 XJ's are pretty darn tough to find. Around my way anyhow! How bout out of a wrangler? Glenn -
2.5L valve cover leak
Glenn Moyer replied to Glenn Moyer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for all the advice guys! Cheech do you have the plastic valve cover ? Glenn -
I never fall into great deals! If that would have been me they would have crushed it with a bulldozer 5 minutes before I got there.
-
I think I've tried every gasket and or sealer on my valve cover and it always end up leaking after a few weeks. I don't have any blow by going into the air box and the breathers are all open. Has anybody had better luck with any perticular gasket or silicone gasket maker? It's an 89 MJ, 2.5 plastic valve cover. Doesn't seam to be warped or cracked. Had 180,000 on my last 87 Mj and the valve cover was the only place it ever leaked oil from. Thanks Glenn
-
By the way you have it on upside down! :huh???:
-
Looks in pretty good shape. Especially if it's FREE ! Great snag. Glenn
-
Yes it sure does! Glenn
-
No I didn't know that was the case. But Thank you for the information! That's why I asked if anyone ever used or saw one on a jeep MJ or XJ. None of the sites listed a picture of the hood like the Reflexxion Hoods did. I guess I'll just keep an eye out for one of the Reflexxion hoods. If any knows or sees one for sale I'd appreciate a heads up! Thanks Glenn
-
Yes that was the second one that I tried. The other was Auto Parts Warehouse. I think they are the same place actually. Both places had the hoods for around 100.00. Glenn
-
Well I don't think it's going to work out anyway. Both sites that said that they had the EFX cowl hoods in stock now say that they are sorry but they are now out of stock. I can't stand when companies do this kind of thing. If you don't have it in stock or are no longer going to keep it on stock why not say so. I placed orders on both sites and an hour later I get an E-MAIL saying that theydon't have it and my credit card will be credited in a few days. Well that means I have to keep an eye on my credit card so I don't overdraft it for a week. What a damn hassle for nothing! Glenn
-
Thanks! That hood looks GREAT! Glenn
-
Looking into putting a cowl hood on my 89 MJ. The Reflexxion ones are hard to find and pretty pricey when I do. I was looking at the EFX Cowl Hoods. The price is right but I can't find any pictures of one on a MJ or XJ that i could see if they looked good. Has anyone ever put one on there trucks and did you like them? Thanks Glenn

ugh power steering...how much damage did I do?
Glenn Moyer replied to mjtjnj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should be OK. The milky condition usually occurs from all the tiny air bubbles. let it sit a while and check the fluid level again. I've had customers grive miles with hoses blown and not done any damage. Glenn -
Front coil spring question
Glenn Moyer replied to CHINOTJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did the 1.5 spacer with the XJ coils and yes it is front end STIFF. Got about 2.5 to 3 inches of lift though. Glenn -
Sun visor vanity mirror bulbs
Glenn Moyer replied to Glenn Moyer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Went back to the You-pull it and found a Cherokee with bulbs in the vanity mirrors. The bulb number is TS-14V1CP. It looks just like a glass fuse. Glenn -
I recently picked up a set of sun visors that had vanity mirrors in them. They were off a 91 cherokee. Run power wire to the existing visor wire and installed them. Everything was going good until I turned on the switch. Nothing? No light? Pulled light covers and low and behold no bulbs! Dang I can't catch a brake. Does anybody have any idea what bulbs they may take? Kind of looks like the interior socket with the long bulbs that connect on each end. Except the size of the old glass automotive fuses. Thanks Glenn
-
My truck also had those horrible flag style mirrors. Also an 89. First upgrade I made. Glenn

Thanks Fezzik that was great information! Glenn
