For starters I blew the spider gear apart and and put a nice size crack in the shaft. If the gears didnt blow apart I'm sure the shaft would have twisted off. earlier in the day I did a couple burnouts where I rolled backwards about 10mph or so and dumped the clutch then later on I was driving normal and thats when the gears let go. Took the cover off and their was a few pieces that fell out.

hmmm good to know. I'll have to look more into that and find out exactly what he was talking about. Maybe he's mistaken, wouldn't be the first time for a shop and sure as hell won't be the last lol I don't think it would hold up to me though. lol I tend to be heavy on the clutch action and busted up the last 20 I had behind a 2.5 but either way it'll be fun to see how well it holds up!

The only upgrade I remember hearing of is the 1-peice shafts. :dunno: and the CJ shafts would be too short for your axle so even if you bought them they wouldn't work. Don't worry. You'll never need an upgrade anyway. The AMC 20 found in MJs is plenty strong in stock form. Don't know if that shop owner was right but he said I should do the upgrade when I swap in my V-8 PS Hey Pete, you back home now?

The upgrade kit for the AMC 20 is for the CJ's with the two piece axles. The MJ AMC 20 already has the one peice axle upgrade. Same goes for the AMC 20 as used in FSJ Waggy's. Hmmm maybe your right. I dunno. I never looked too much into it yet other than the owner of a jeep shop telling me about and said it was for the truck......

AC not keeping up with the heat.
Harley replied to aquiring93's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They may be breaking the law but its not hard to find. I see it on CL fairly often. At least in this neck of the woods. -
Mine did something similar except for it was over charging. It was fine one day and then next morning started it up and the voltage was too high and all my lights were flickering. No warning at all. and hes right about the batteries here. If we get 2 yrs out of em its considered lucky! They don't agree with the desert heat. I also agree about the good wife. Maybe she can teach mine how to do that. HAHA

If I remember correctly there is a metal clip that the top ends attach to. Holes are already in the door. I put them on mine but have yet to grab the clips so they mount solid

Mine has the same, I may be wrong but I believe its for the reverse lights.

Suggestions for taking a 2WD offroad

Hitch, bumper, frame.....anywhere solid and if something does give out it won't take any crucial parts with it. Just use your head, go slow and easy and you'll be just fine. -

Yeah I know what ya mean but hes only got 2wd. There is no way he will be in anything that would require that much towing force. I've drivin semi's for 5 yrs hauling anything from standard freight to heavy haul/oversized loads and there's a reason we used chains and not straps whenever possible.... -

BAD idea. If something comes loose you will have 50 pounds of steel flying through the air with enough force to go through sheet metal or a radiator. And that's assuming it doesn't go through the window and take your head off. Recovery strap with loops on both ends. The only way a chain will snap loose with that much force is if your hammerin on it! If ya don't jerk it like a fool there's no reason these little trucks will snap a good chain as long as you use your head and do it right. Especially since hes only got 2wd. its not like hes gonna bury it up to the doors anyway. -

Bring a good length chain with hooks and if ya have to pull it out, don't hook it to anything that will rip off easily. -

Yeah, they are out of their flippin minds for that price. There was no incentive to pursue it further than the phone call. Nobody has a clue of those 3 extra pieces for the slave??? Just live here Don and you'll learn to concentrate with that stuff around. :rotfl2:

OOPS!.... :wall:

Ahhh, Gotcha

That figures...... Guess I'll order one just for a spare seeing as how everybody either had no listing for it or said they were discontinued. Thanks for the info Don. EDIT: Hey Don, correct me if I'm wrong but I looked at the parts manual on page 135 #20 there is a different number showing..... Am I looking at the right line or something different?

HOH wanted about $80 and 3 days to make one. I got the 89 hose for $30 and another $3 for an extension line to make up for the goofy bend just like what Warrior showed. Now I'm just curious what those 3 pieces are for that came with the slave.....
