The Stereos on our MJ's
lostissues replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i think i remember someone cutting out the rear 4x6 spaces to fit 6x9's, that may be an option, wouldnt loose the full sound, or the storage space. -

Rocker Replacement parts
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i was looking to put some square stock where the rockers are and weld it to the mounts on the frame to sturdy it, so it would pretty much be an extension of the frame, doubling as rocker and rock sliders. it seams that people are just welding it to the sheet metal and that doesnt seam like it would hold very well, thats why i want to tie it into the frame also it would be more holding up the square stock and be more rugged. -

Rocker Replacement parts
lostissues replied to lostissues's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i was looking for replacement not restoration, unfortunately I'm not gifted enough to make and fix my own stuff so as of right now my truck in at a local garage getting the transfer case bracing reinforced, a newish transmission and transfer case, rocker and cab corners, exhaust and floors welded in, i may run by him making some rocker panels, the don't need to be fancy, just functional, anyone have links to where people put rock sliders in place of rockers? maybe a write up? that would be awsome, something i could run by him and see what he thinks. thanks, Jonathan -
getting rocker repair pannels, anyone got them? how do they fit? where did you get them? i have bought full floor pans from sherman http://store.shermanparts.com/cgi-bin/sherman/product_list.html?img_num=075 they were pretty good, anyone use any other places? thanks, Jonathan

does this help at all?

I'm in the process of having my old trans/transfer case swaped out, old was a ba10 i believe and the new is an ax15, the mechanic said that i would lose the vacuum for the 4 wheel drive and suggested a cable take its place, i think its the posi-loc cable, anyone done this? what does it look like all installed? and how does it work? I'm guessing after swapping it out the floor shifter is pretty much useless. also, i have a long bed and i was thinking about chopping it some time down the road, the thing is that i would have the bed chopped to bring the tailgate closer and keep the tailgate, my question is how involved does it get? i assume i would have to cut the frame off also, would that mean finding another way to attach the rear leafs? would i run into any other snags? i think the gas tank is far enough up to not worry about, I'm just thinking about departure angle problems that i may have in the future. thanks, Jonathan

did the kicking fix it perminatly? or did it just get it out of gear that one time, might it have anything to do with the slave cylinder being going and having no pressure in the clutch system what so ever? I'm just looking for the best solution for the cheapest price, so either i figure a way to get it out of gear, or pull the other transmission out of my other truck and have the garage swap them at the same time they change out my slave cylinder/clutch assembly. when it got stuck i was using the starter to bump it to a more managable position for towing since there is no hydrolic pressure in the lines, i went to shift in reverse and it went into 4th, and doesnt want to come out. is that a situation where i could have bent or broken something? anyone know of an easy fix? unfortunatly for right now i don't have the truck its at the garage so i can't really try anything. any help would be awsome. while trying to get my comanche in a more managable position in order to get it on a trailer my transmission got stuck in 4 gear, we took off the drive shaft to be able to move it still, well i just got a call from the place it took it (was going to have the slave cylinder and clutch replaced) and they wanted to know what i wanted to do, is there any easy way to pop it out of gear of is it gone? or is it just better to get a new transmission? thanks, Jonathan

cherokee? or grand cherokee? cause if it is a cherokee, i would love to know where they got it, i have a bunch of scale jeeps, the only cherokees i could find are the matchbox 2 door cherokees.

IIRC the purple with orange stripe is the constant power wire, it is probably a fuse, looking at a 1990 manual i had lying around it looks like there is a 10 amp fuse that lists: "interior lighting, radio and clock memory", that should fix it, if the constant power grounded out it would blow that fuse. i have an 87 I6 manual and it won't start, I'm pretty sure the battery is poop, its been sitting for a while but i jumped it and had the cables attached, the p.o. put in a pushbutton start, thin gague wire from the fuse box (i hate getto wiring) and the other is the same wire going straight to the starter under the hood, when i turn the key, the fule pump goes on but the starter doesnt work, may be the fuse box, but i ran a wire from the battery to the other side of the switch and i can hear the starter click but it doesnt do anything else, so i ran a wire from the battery and touched it to the starter and it did the same thing. any suggestions, new starter? what can you usualy get them for, brand new? are they hard to replace? it started and worked a while ago, it has just been sitting for a while, now i need to get it towed to fix the slave cylinder and more stuff goes wrong. any help would be awsome, Thanks, Jonathan

I work putting in car stereos and have to search for them if they fly off, luckily one of the guys is good with a paperclip and some pliers, that or you can make one out of the black document clips. yea they are a fun little item to search after on the floor.

there is a retainer attached to it, its shaped like a horse shoe, it needs to be pulled, pushed off, if you can slip something in and push it out, be careful, they are under a little tension so they may fly off, the rag trick may work, ive never tried it though. juse googled it and came up with this http://home.earthlink.net/~goodspeeds/CRANK.HTM this is the way that most vehicles are set up.
