  1. not sure how the weather was in boston last week but I'm close, and last week it was very nice, warm, sunny, today its a cloudy and cool, some rain. hope it clears up and get a lot nicer out. Jonathan
  2. forgot to mention that I realy like the look of the pre-runner bumpers, I'm leaning towards either nates 4x4 recesed winch bumper or i may just end up shelling out the money for the JCR bumper, it is a little more but its covered for life. with nates, once it leaves their shop, its not there problem. i wonder how much they would take off if i ask JCR to leave off the light tabs? i don't like the lights there. i would throw on the links but I'm at work, the ability of these computers are minimal. Jonathan
  3. he really likes to park on stuff, huh? i love the pic in parked in the river. Jonathan
  4. ha, found it its in this thread http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3333&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 the more pics i see, the more i like it  Jonathan
  5. well I just typed this up and got almost all the way through it and then I clicked on a bookmark and it went to that page in this window, erased everything :headpop: had to start all over again, doing this one in word and then pasting it in just so I don’t kill myself if I do it again :brows: I have been looking at winch bumpers for a while now, I have found a few that I like, first one is the JCR winch bumper http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=1XJFWNPre&Category_Code=XJB it looks amazing has all the features I want but at 520 bucks (pre shipping) it may be a little to much coin to drop on my truck, now I'm not doubting that its worth it, just not for my truck, for now at least. And then I would also have to get a rear bumper. Then I came across this thread a while ago: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2397 he got his bumper from this place: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/84-01-Jeep-Cherokee-XJ-Winch-Ready-Bumper-Set_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33640QQihZ003QQitemZ130118924336QQtcZphoto they had a site www.ryansfab.com but the site is dead now, does anyone else run this bumper, pros/cons? Anyone know if they are still making bumpers? Do they have a different site? Is there a place where I could see a set price for these bumpers? The say it’s a set so this would be a front and rear bumper I think. Here is another one I found and like the look of: http://www.nates4x4.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=50 anyone run this? Pro/cons? Pics? I have also seen the ones at: http://www.protofab4x4.com/index.html and http://www.detoursusa.com their backbone system I'm not really a fan of those two, I just don’t like the look of them. Anyone else running anything else? Where did you get it? How much was it? Got any pics? Also just to make sure, they will work on an MJ if they are for and XJ right? Thanks, Jonathan
  6. i do remember him posting a little while back, i cannot remember what thread though. and that is a beautiful jeep Jonathan
  7. the other day we ground off what remained from the PO welding on the old sway bar brackets and started drilling the new holes for the sway bar bracket, we got through 2 with a piolet hole and one with a bigger bit, then the bigger bit went all dull on us so it wasnt doing anything, so we said screw it lets park on a rock again. oppisite of this---> (rock on) poser pics: then yesterday, i went and got a tap set, some more drill bits, and some bolts, after i got them i said "damn thems some big bolts" so after my dentist appt today, i went the the clostest hardware store and got some more drill bits and bolts and then started. drilling into metal upside down it stoopid, hot metal showers anyone? solved by jumpsuit and gloves. drilled all the holes and then tapped them, they didnt some out perfectly straight but whatever. Now all i have to do is remove the old sway bar arms, the lower portion, the part the PO cut and left for me. put some pb blaster on it and now i need my brother in laws impact gun, is there any trick to getting these off? or is it straight forward, with the wrench and pushing, and all that fun stuff. Jonathan
  8. if you find a dealer who does business with them on the internet, let me know, I'm looking to get a latch for a 4 piece back window, unfortunatly i don't think that that company does business with the general public, just bulk buyers. Jonathan
  9. well, i looked at my brother in laws, he has the HO engine, his looks pretty straight forward on how to remove it, mine is a little confusing, it looks almost to be part of the block, a few torx screws, but non of them look to be holding it on, anyone else delt with this kind of throttle body?
  10. how do i remove the throttle body from my 87 4.0. the PO must of had the spring break on him so he just put a different spring to pull it back and attached the other end to a bolt on the block. it makes pressing the gas very stiff. I'm heading near the JY tomorrow and would like to know what tools to bring, and how to remove it, or is it better to replace the spring one it? how? Thank You, Jonathan
  11. sounds much easier with 2 people, so we should be all set, as long at that does fix it and its not the ebrake that is poop
  12. good call, mine needs to be adjusted also, we can find out and then make a party of it.
  13. why thank you  The doors will eventualy be sanded and painted along with the whole truck, i just need to get it on the road, then i can do the other things. Jonathan
  14. ok, so i finaly got my tires mounted, i installed the airsoft bbs in and hopefully it will work  this is the link to the post where i talk about and do it: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4616 here are pics of the tires installed. here is one with the half door here is one of my old tire, i plan on using it as a spare :brows: there were only 3 casualtys in the ordeal: one blister, i was an idiot and put 2 of the valve stem covers on the bumper  they disapered when i went for a ride but i did find one, then there was my pressure gauge i think that fell on the way out and was finished off uppon my return. Jonathan
  15. today i installed the bbs in my tires, first thing i did was deflate the tire, i didnt have one i could just put on, i had to hold it on, that takes a long time, so i found this ultra high tech device: once the air was out, i had to break the bead, now i hate bottle jacks, and i have a blister: then i dumped the bbs in, ohhh ahhhh action shot!! :brows: then i insalled the new tires. then i decided to take it for a ride (on the way i lost 2 of the new valve stem covers i put on the bumper, found one, the other is mia  ) i took it around my hill, wasnt able to get up to a good spead so i cannot tell if it worked, it did wobbel at one point, but it could be anything else with the truck. hopefully i will not have to do a wright up about how to remove airsoft bbs from a tire. :headpop: Jonathan
  16. so so tonight i decided to count out the bbs into 4 sets of 1134 bbs one set for each tire, this is them sorted out in random glasses i have in my room, i don't drink that much but i do have drinking glasses, whatever I'm wierd. ok, i needed 8 ounces of bbs for each tire, simple, weigh out 8 ounces on a scale, done... well i don't know any drug dealers off hand :chillin: and i usualy just guess when I'm cutting my own :D (just to clarify I'm kidding). so i didnt have a scale so i had to find another way to count them out... ok i would like to put this warning in just in case, this is not a task for the faint of heart... or people that have a life... or a girlfriend... basicaly you have to be a complete loser sitting at home watching reruns of futurama and family guy in order to go about this the way i did. ok here it is: 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 4...... 1... 2... no, just kidding here is what i found, i have this neat little box i found, it holds 10 rows of 36 bb. so i did 3 sets of that, then a single row of 36, then add another 18 and i got...carry the one... square root...porkchop sandwich... i got 1134. so i did that process 4 times and got them all sorted out. here is my math: F- DID NOT SHOW WORK!!! JONATHAN PLEASE SEE ME AFTER CLASS :( well this is what i had remaining: not much left, and a cracker jack prize in the form of a random piece of plastic. so hopefully i will get around to deflating the tires tomorrow and breaking the bead and putting these little buggers in. i will not be able to drive it around to see if its working cause it isnt inspected/regestered but i will take it for a spin around my hill just to take it for a ride. once i get it all road worthy i will reply back on how the ride is. thanks for puttin up with my crap, I'm a little tired and I'm using that as an excuse. Jonathan
  17. i went back to dicks today and exchanged the bbs i got for another kind (picture from www.airgunexpress.com) These are .2 grams each, so it should require less per tire and i think that will be better cause they can only lay out in one layer on the inside of the tire, so this will enable more weight to be distributed in a smaller area. with math, i hate math, but with it I'm getting that i have to put 1134 in each tire, still a lot but better then the 1900 i had before. i think I'm going to install them tomorrow if i get a chance, so if anyone has any objections or suggestions pipe in now. Jonathan
  18. i didnt see dirtys post, but that is exactly what i was talking about, a room with just how-to tech, that you cannot post to so it doesnt get all cluttered, if you need to ask a question or modify it, you can referance to it on the boards. hopefully this idea will take shape. Jonathan
  19. this is going to be one of my future projects, a wright up would be awsome, with lots of pics, and wiring diagrams . maybe we could start a sticky thread catagory with this mod, and say a gauge cluster swap, seat swap and the most common mods. a detailed description of the full process with pics to go along with it would be great. i cannot think of any specific questions, just the whole process. Jonathan
  20. the place where i got my tires mounted said they couldnt ballance them, the guy suggested a bag of bb like items that you could get at a local tire store i think they are these dyno beads by innovative balancing http://www.innovativebalancing.com/ here is an artical about using airsoft BB's as well as a chart with how much per tire http://4x4trailhunters.com/article.php?id=18 Jonathan
  21. I have an 87 4.0 I'm guessing most 4.0 that year or above would work, does it change on the HO? would i be better off getting new temp and oil sending unit? anyone know what they charge? are they readely available at a local parts store? Dick, chime in with your specs and see if its any different. Jonathan
  22. i plan on doing the airsoft bb deal to ballance my tires. i went to Dicks and bought a container (picture from http://www.airgunexpress.com) there are 10,000 .12 gram BB's. if my math is correct for the suggested 8 ounces in each tire (33's, 12.5) that would be about 1800 BB's per tire, to me that sounds like a lot. i think that i remember seeing some .4 gram BB's would those be better? that would be about 567 BB's per tire. i know CW is/was running BB, anyone else running them? what did you use? Thanks, Jonathan
  23. I'm planning on going to the junk yard on thursday, i will be looking for a non dummy light cluster. is it a direct replacement no parts needed asside from the sensors? I pulled the old dummy light cluster out of my parts truck and i broke the speedo cable. what is the trick to taking it out safely, arnt there two different types of speedo connectors? what is the best way to reach the speedo cable to get it out? pry one corner of the cluster out and reach behind? or reach up from under the dash and behind the cluster and unhook it while its still in place? do i need the connector after i get it out? or is it just he one that is on my truck that i have to be carefull with? should i grab that one just so i have an extra? i know that you need the sensors off the new truck also, the temp sensor and another that i forgot. where are these located? does anyone have any pics? or could someone take some if they get a chance? so i know exactly where to look? are there any special tools i should bring, the dash is mainly philips screws, i will have a mechanics tool kit with me so i will hopefully be ok. sorry for all the questions, i just want to make sure i don't go through the process of getting one out and then having it break on me, or not have all the parts to put it in my truck. hopefully i will be able to get two full clusters and sensors, one for me and one for my brother in law. Thanks in advance. Jonathan
  24. I was at work today and my brother in law stopped in to get a radio in his truck, i tell him it will be a little while and he goes off to the other side of the mall, bout 10 mins later i see a mint red comanche pull into the bank accross the street. so i called my bro and the truck went down to the other side of the mall. he catches a glimpse of it and comes back to get his truck, so i go on break and we go to find where the other manche parked, with a nice little piece of paper with WWW.ComancheClub.COM on it (we didnt have any magnets). well we found it and placed it under his wiper, hopefully he isnt pissed about it, that is the last thing i would want, just trying to introduce him to a great place for awsome info about a great truck. and a great group of people. anyway I snapped a pic: it was so pretty, no cancer on it at all. AND A CARGO LIGHT!! if your learking around the board we hope to hear from ya. Jonathan
  25. the person who mounted them said that i can find them at a local tire place, forgot exactly where he said, i wonder if its the same as the airsoft bbs. anyone have that chart? does it say specific brand/weight/size bb? Thanks Jonathan
