Recently, while on break from school I got brackets to mount the sport bar to my long bed. In the factory service manual it mentions a gasket that sits between both mounts where the bar will bolt to. I've seen a couple solutions, but I've never experimented with TPU yet on my 3d printer and this seems like a good opportunity and hopefully a viable one. I have the ones that go to the wheels modeled, but not the ones that go to the front on the frame. If anyone has those measurements by some random chance that would save me a lot of time.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

After looking through the different Jeep badges over the years does anyone have a particular favorite? Mine is the one for the Rubicon Recon.

I've stumbled upon an old online auction listing for an 89. It has lived life in Germany and the last time it was auctioned was last year. I'm unsure if it should be added to the registry, but I figured I'd post it anyways. https://www.kickdown.com/en/postings/f2b4c5cde6fa

Question about Rear Disc Swap - D44
TheNerfsmith posted a topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hi all, In planning my parts list for my rear disc brake swap I have run into a roadblock with the backing plates. I've heard a lot of conflicting information about it and what seems to be the option I want to take is to swap in rear ZJ brakes since I have a Dana 44. I'd like to get new backing plates and parking brake stuff since I'd rather them just be clean and reliable. I also want to take the time to refresh the whole system due to its age and its more economical to do front and rear at the same time. With this in mind, what backing plates should I be looking for and is this brake kit compatible with my 89? (The kit is for a 95-98 Grand Cherokee). -
I’ve been doing a ton of future planning in my free time. Doing my own research and figuring out how this build will progress over the years. Being prepared and having a plan I’ve been told is the best solution. So I’ve attached a parts list/wish list for myself. Love to hear feedback. Mainly on the brakes color coded red as that is my next course of action. Added a pdf that way all the links work and it is a work in progress type of spreadsheet. Comanche%20Rebuild%20Sheet.pdf.pdf

For laughs I plugged in the numbers on some of the ads, sales brochures, window sticker, etc. From what I got from a basic inflation calculator is that the 18-22k range is basically what they would be worth new now. I guess they really do retain their value.

Ideas Wanted: Softer Release of Parking Brake
TheNerfsmith replied to NickyV's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If we can’t find replacements what about making them. For example printing them out of TPU on a 3d printer if we have the measurements to make it in CAD. -
I was fortunate that mine already had 4x4, but the only transfer case I found with the proper input spline count was electronic speedometer. So the shop I had doing the work and I came up with a solution to put the cable speedometer back half (which I wanted) to the front half of the new case. They were both NP231's and it seemed like the best way to go about it at the time. Regarding the upgrade rabbit hole I'm pretty sure I'm to far gone already lol.

clutch kit preference-quality

To add to this, I have a LUK in my AX-15. Works great, I haven't had any issues with it. -
I’ve had my eye on this bumper. Here’s the Link. I don’t know how good it is nor what the figment looks like. It looks “close” to stock but also has D-Rings. If anyone has experience with this bumper I’d love to know.

Comanche stolen in West Seattle ** HAS BEEN FOUND**
TheNerfsmith replied to Barstool's topic in The Pub
It’s a thought that keeps me up at night as well. Recently, I was checking the price of AirTags after almost losing my keys. I probably will get another for the my Comanche. I will pray for the return of your Comanche. -
The brake system is on my radar since I’m planning to swap to rear disc brakes. I’m in the process of budgeting that project out.

What I do know is that my A/C still works and blows cold so I assume it is connected? Maybe not?, I have no clue.
-

I actually have no idea why that line on the back of the VC is like that. One of the 3 previous owners put on a cold air intake so maybe that why it’s like that but I have no clue since the MJ runs fine. Albeit with a drop in RPM when the brake is pressed, but I documented why that could be in my build thread.
-
I still have the CAD that I’m looking to delete. As for the line I’m not exactly sure which one it is but it’s in this photo.
-
This helps a ton. The previous owner plugged some of the lines with Philips screws so it’s overdue for a refresh.
-
This next post is of its current problem. Also why I will inspect the vacuum lines and harness when I have the time. When the brake pedal is pressed the engine drops RPM. It has almost stalled because of this. For documentation I have attached the video. When it slows down that’s when the brake is applied. Pretty sure it’s the booster after some deduction and help. In the spirit of keeping things updated for my build thread I’m adding the media I have currently from summer. This post will be of the photos my friend took of the truck. I haven’t mounted the bar yet but it’s heavy enough to not really move to go drive it quick to an empty lot.

I've been doing a lot of research into the Renix harness so I can clean it up when I get to it over my winter break in December (Along with all my brittle vacuum lines). Does anyone on here have a thread or information on cleaning up the harness? Such as modernizing the engine Fusebox (I've heard it called a PDC?) like putting in a newer XJ fusebox. As for the interior I would just clean that up as I went along putting in new lights and taking out the power interior that was put in. I do plan on doing the jeepcables big 7 at some point.

It's back out for limited release as of 10/20/25. Can't say how much of it is left in stores though.

This is probably pretty niche, but lately while driving or studying I've had Sabaton's Maid of Steel on repeat. It came from the new album release this month. https://youtu.be/fTqB-kWVnBA?si=cR-D0VvfYGZkCFv0
