thats great, i was wondering what Q78's would look like on an MJ. how much lift do you have on there? I'm hoping to squeeze the Q's with ~4.5" in the front, and a simple spring over in the back.

well i went and got different rotors from pepboys today. they work fine!! thanks for your help eagle!
-
I'm pretty sure that will help me something huge!! you rock eagle, where would the MJ world be without you  eagle, more info about the book please!!! release date?
-
thats what i was thinking. I'll probably just bring the old one to a few diff stores, and see what they say. thanks

The MJ does not have the original axle that it came with. that one is sitting beside the truck on the ground. i don't know what year the axle that is in it now is. Ive recently been doing the brakes on the truck. The axle on the MJ looks identical to the axle on my 1990 XJ, so I ordered rotors for that expecting them to work. the MJ came with rotors, and worked fine so i didn't expect much trouble. That is what happened with rotors for a 1990 XJ. The MJ has a disco axle, so this was a logical solution, right? well it isnt. The rotors that came on the MJ are thicker than the ones that autozone gave me for the 1990. I'm also using the same calipers that were on the 1990...so i thought that the calipers would fit just fine. Here are the ones autozone gave me. .25" thick. Here are the ones that came with the truck...see they're thicker. .5" thick. SOOOO how do i go about getting the new, thicker rotors? i don't know what year to order them for. ive been searching part numbers, and measurements on napa, and autozone...no real luck yet. Do i just ask for the thicker ones?

what size are they? I'm thinking about getting some Q78's for the MJ next summer.
-
some weird problems arose. temporary fix tho. here's the rotor without any washers. Here is what it looks like w/o the dust shield. Notice how far the 3 bolts(or screws!! ;)) holding the knuckle on stick out? Here is the XJ, see thatt he bolts don't stick out as far? With 3 washers per lug. For next summer, I'm debating just trying to find a 1995+ XJ D30 for the front so I don't have to fuss with this one. It will come w/o the disco, and will have 297 u-joints. I might be able to get one for $200. I don't know yet. Oh well, it works now. Its not going to be on the road for a long time. Just drinving it around here and no faster than 20mph, so I'm not too concerned.

i would love it if they release some sliders, and a rear bumper!!!

i had one, then i adopted this attitude, and deleted it.

yeah, you are not the first person to mention that. I'm going to re-measure the lines and get new ones before i bleed the brakes and such.
-
axle is in!! yes, i know my brake lines are all twirly, and that i have drum brakes instead of discs.
-
ill put that on the top of my list just after checking the fuse. thanks eagle.
-
ok, now that the brakes, and axle are mostly out of the way (thanks again for all the help everybody!!!), i need to tackle somthing else...the rear lights! they don't work. i admit i havent checked the fuse yet, but if its not that, what could it be? is this a common problem with an easy remedy? the fronts work fine; blinkers, highbeams, lowbeams, hazards, driving lights. i suppose i should pul out my multi meter, and start checking the wires to the back to see if they are getting power. I'm assuming that i would be checking volts. anyone know how many go to the rear? thanks. and pete, i think I'm going to use your idea of the hose clamps, and just fill the holes with some RTV.

blinker relay thing on the fuse pannel?

id be willing to help too!! BUT i don't know anything about web pages. if there is anything like word processing that you want me to do, let me know...its for a great cause!!

i saw somthing on Top Gear, and the guys wanted to see how fast you had to go to not get detected by one. i think that the speed they got was ~145mph :smart:. and swamped, you were 100mph too SLOW. sux to be you! :nanner: nah, jk man. sorry about the ticket. the MJ looks good in the pics tho.

the window might have to go up and down IF your lights go out, and you have to use hand signals. just a thought. damn, i just re-read the above post. its there

SOOOO today i go to Advance Auto to get a Dakota flex line, and i tell the guy what i want. then he says "what size?" i said i dunno, then i realize that he was asking about the engine size. i said i dunno, its for another truck, and he says "ok we have them over here, follow me". i follow him to a little box that has spools of.....fuel line. i say "is this brake line?" he says "no, thats over here" ..............so i follow him back to the place where they keep the brake lines, and he says "here we are."...............i say i need "FLEX LINE!" he then goes and gets a spool of HARD line just about then I'm like :hmm: . so he says "I'm sorry we don't have that...that sounds hard to find." what a dumbass. then i went to the smallest parts store you can imagine in the center of my town, and they knew what i wanted, and actualy had it in stock! i was amazed. the end
