Repainted my rear bumper black and put black JEEP stickers on my tailgate that I got from Ebay
-
When the PO painted the truck, he also painted the rear bumper blue to match the lower side panels. I did not like the looks of it. I would really like a chrome bumper, but until I can find one, I decided to repaint the bumper black. I painted the bumper semigloss black and all the trim pieces flat black. Before Sanded down and bondo on some of the dents, hammered them out the best I could. Primered After, back on the truck. Turned out better then I thought it would. I also put black JEEP stickers on the tailgate that I got off Ebay.

89 Comanche "Show Truck" on Ebay
MJCARENA replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Looks like the seat might be a "custom" gray one. Also looks like he has a "custom" broken fan shroud. Its not a bad looking truck, he just talked it up to much. -
Truck looks nice,I like the way it sits with those tires and lift.

Just curious, did you pull the axle shafts out and remove the carrier caps holding the bearings in. um yes.... obv... lol axle is almost full naked just left are the carrier and seals When I removed mine on my rear dana 44 on my XJ it was real tight also. I took a rachet strap and wrapped it around the carrier and hooked the other end to my bumper and tightened it real tight and then hit the housing where the case spreader would go with a hand sledge alternating left and right and it came out slowly. Had to keep tightening the strap as it moved. Hope this helps. :hmm: sound like that method will give some damage. :dunno: ill try it later after my friend come by tomorrow with extra pry bars Don't hit the carrier, just the axle housing. wrap the strap around the carrier. No damage happened when I did this. Wish I took pictures.

hello -
Did you change out your oil sending unit from the light type to the gauge type?
-
Thanks for the comment.

I thought it was you that jacked it. :hmm:

The whole setup looks great! Question for you though: did you have to swap out for longer wheel studs? No they are the stock studs. I checked and the same amount of stud sticks out with the rim only on. I am thinking of putting longer studs in since they do not come to the end of the lugnuts, but have just over 1/2 inch of thread into the nuts.

31X10.50X15 bfg a/t tires on stock
MJCARENA replied to whatwheels's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nice looking MJ. Tires look good on it. -
why is that? :dunno: Brandon Because the VIN that is on the dash that he's putting in is not the VIN to his truck. Which is bad why? Brandon I am replacing the whole dash not just the instrument cluster. The vin number is the serial number for the truck, each vehicle is different. It is illegal to put a different vin on your truck. I could steal your truck and put the vin plate from a junk truck I bought on yours and register it. It would not show up as stolen. Then I could sell your truck to someone else. There are other places on the truck where it is stamped but they usaully don't look there when registering a vehicle.

I picked up that dash at the junk yard, wasn't to bad to take out since the steering column and seats were missing already. Took about 30 minutes to remove. Feels like it will take about 2 hours to put back in with the wire harness clips and try to put the screws up by the windshield without dropping them. The old vin plate just popped off by prying under it with a little screwdriver next to the rivets. Hope I can do this with my original and just pop it back in, so the rivets are correct. Thanks for the info.

And that's why they made WJs  I am going to look into getting a pair of LCA's. Read you have to mod them a little since they have wider bushings.
-
I got the wheels and tires. Yes they do look new, but are a couple of years old. Hardly drove his jeep.
-
Thats why there are so many XJ's in the junk yards.

Put 31x10.5x15 BFG M/T tires on it with different stock Jeep rims. Got them for $400 from another local Jeep owner, he went to 33's The back tires tucked in more then the front and I did not like the look, so I bought some Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers. Before After Before After
