CB cable routing from bed/fire extinguisher mount
aabmike replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There is a plastic/rubber plug that is on the floor right behind the Drivers rear seat bolt under the carpet, you can see the plug under the truck. I think it is a drain plug of some sort? :dunno: Anyways I ran mine right through the center of that plug and put some RTV around it to seal it up. The plug acts as a grommet to keep the cable off the metal and seals up nice. then I just ran it under the carpet to my CB. Unless it is just an '88 thing, it works pretty well. -

I have to ask, why didn't you upgrade the doors to 97+? and get rid of the non-functional wing window? :dunno: -

Yeah, I have heard that. Maybe it is about time I look into that. I still have not even pulled out my carpet, but I am getting new seats and a roll bar this weekend so i guess it will be the perfect time to knock those items out!! Thanks!!

Okay, here's the deal. I had installed a small 150 Watt amp to power my 10" Subs in the MJ. All has been working great for the last month or so. Then out of nowhere, every time I push on the clutch pedal, even a little bit, the subs cut out :dunno: I watched the power indicator light on the amp, and it never misses a beat and stays lit. None of the wires for the amp are even close to the pedal, not the ground, power, remote or RCA's. Anybody have any ideas on why it is doing this? It is really driving me nutty!! :help: I have the amp grounded behind the seats, the remote wire and RCA's are ran under the center counsel, and the power is ran along the drivrs rocker/door jamb into the fuse block. Anything might help, thanks!!! :wall:

I think they should have updated the XJ to the 2500 version to keep up with the times!!

I know this is an old post, but what did you do about the power windows on the 97+ doors?
-
Has anyone done the 97+ door upgrade with power windows and locks? I bought the doors, but I need to know if I can just run some wires with inline fuses to them to make the windows work, or is it more involved than that? I couldn't find any manual window doors for what I wanted to spend, so I am kind of stuck with what I bought now. :???:

Installed an XJ Factory front skid plate and bought a pair of 97+ Doors and a complete dash Got my work cut out for me, going to do the doors before the first snow hits I hope, and the dash this spring. I will post pics as I go!!

LoL My '88 actually leans towards the opposite side :dunno: being the passenger side. It is really noticeable to me, but I guess when I get in it probably is close to level. :huh???:

In stalled some new Bilstein 5150 Series shocks on the rear!! Awesome shocks, 10" Long and have a separate piggy back reservoir. I can actually feel the difference in the ride and driveability, I run no sway bars front or rear, so it is pretty amazing to be able to go around a corner and not feel like I am going to roll over!!

The bed-liner was peeling off, the whole truck except for the drivers bed side was rolled on, the bed side was sprayed on and they didn't prime it before hand. So it would have been bare on that bedside regardless, as it was falling off, literally. That and the entire thing just looked like crap if you were not more than 20 feet from it. The pics don't do it justice either way, the rattle can actually looks better, than the bedliner. It used to look like a burn victim. :hmm:
