Spell check does not always work for many people. Many people try to make things they wright good to read however that can be hard to do with out some one always checking behind you. Alot of times It can take people like this 15+ min to post something, and still fail to get every thing they messed up on. You can't always be so harsh about this. Brandon

Ok well after thinking about this I'm going to try and go with the $400 gamble on a used transmission and t case from a JY and see if they will work. This is instead of going with the one that I knew was bad and rebuilding it for around $700. I sure hope this works out. Thank yall for all of your opinions. Brandon

No, I don't show it. While she did clean up pretty well, she is not show quality. If all of us got together somewhere to show off our comanches, then it would be show quality but so would most of the others in their own way. Remember it still lived it's life in indiana. The undercarrage is in pretty good shape compared to other Indiana trucks but that is only because it wasnt on the road in the winter for the last 15 years. The frame is solid and in good shape but it is not restored. The engine bay looks like any other factory 4.0 with 85,000 miles. It will not clean up. I have thought about sanding and painting the frame rails but I am sure I would bust bolts off to remove transfer case crossmembers, control arms, etc. Then I would be a little upset. It may not look good underneath but it is all original. It can only be original once. Right? But next winter I will probably paint the frame rails anyway. I will be seeking advice on how to remove a busted bolt or loosened nutsert. :shake: To bad it dam sure sounds like a show type of truck. Come one your the original owner! lol If you get the chance post up a few more pics for us to gawk at :brows: like the inside with the buckets :D Brandon

Ok thank you no I didnt look into it at all I just assumed I would get rid of the one line, plug it and get a new junction that doesnt have the T in it going to the porpoising valve, hook every thing up and go from there. If you say thats not the way to go then ill just do what you said. Thank you very much Brandon

The truck I was gonna buy before I got mine was a auto, 2.5 4wd 1988. Peace of crap but what ever lol Any ways. So I'm guessing your going with a SOA lift? Yes I would up date your rear axle, and gears I think 4:10 will be fine seeing as how you have a 5 speed. When looking for a rear axle you have many you can choose from, crysler 8.25, Ford 9", ford 8.8, dana 44, hell even a dana 60. Its all about what you need and or want. Brandon

If you don't have the cash/time and or experience you may want to hold out on this and see what you can learn. There was SOOO much info I wish I would have known before I dove into mine. Have you thought about what size tires your gonna go with? or what size lift? Oh and it all depends on if your truck is a auto or stick. You may want to keep it at 3:55 if for the most part you drive on the street. Brandon

maybe the pinion angle is a bit off :dunno: Brandon -
I don't know. Most of the, places you pulled up is just a bit far way (hr or more). I really don't think that gambling on $200-$400 is the best idea here. I understand that they are a beast but they are all out of used SUV's/Trucks and could have somthing wrong with them. I'm always looking for ways to save some $ but i don't know. Brandon

I wish I lived where some of yall live but The last transmission and t case I got that "may have"" been ok. I think for the the price of 600-700 bucks for the rebuild of the transmission and a good t case I think that thats better then hunting around for one for months on end and not really knowing if its good or not. 90% of the junk yards down here drain all fluid out of any thing they sell so theres no way to check that either. I just checked car part.com and the closest transmission and t case's are the next city over and they want 200 for the transmission and 200 for the t case. So at $400 is that risk really better then spending a bit more getting a transmission and rebuilding it and a t case for $700? It seems like its a better idea to spend a bit more and know what I'm getting then gambling with $400. Brandon

ive read alot about this and thought about it. Would be great for an off road rig but for a DD it would get really annoying. That would make so much sound in the cab. Brandon
-
yes. are you going to upgrade the gears that your running now? If you do make sure the the front and rear axle gears are alike.
-
thats with the t case. And the last one I had that I knew worked fine cost me 300 and then 100 for the t case. Junk yards here think they sell gold. I just talked to the guy whos gonna rebuild it for/with me and he said rebuild kit should be like 350 or so for the parts unless. And he didnt say any thing about layber so maybe free idk. So it shouldnt be all that bad. Brandon

:agree: On an AW4, I've heard unreal stories of their toughness and longevity. Myself, I wouldn't bother with a rebuild, there are too many of them out there that can be had for cheap. My 2 cents. because the one that I had that I knew was good was taken from me. So I found some one thanks to another forum who will give me one for $200 and thats with the t case. I Figure that If I have to rebuild it it will be like having a knew one.

So do you ever take it to car shows? Brandon
