  1. lol, if you can buy one thats rust free. rust repair and good paint work are the most expensive repairs or modifications you can do. also stay away from bedliner on body panels, its really really hard to remove and its usually hiding rust.
  2. i know the Volvo guys love them for drifting, they just modify the counter weight so it locks at a lower rpm, and then stays locked. for off roading in a jeep thats not necessary due to the low wheel speeds as compared to drifting. For the climate we have in Michigan this should be the perfect compromise for me. ive researched it quite a bit, I'm comfortable with the G80 for my intended use. a lunchbox locker isnt all that great on snowy paved roads. id love a selectable locker, its just not in the budget right now.
  3. here you go https://rustysoffroad.com/products/rusty-s-control-arms-custom-for-stock-wheels-pair-xj-tj#.YrIMWh8pC2c
  4. i think Rusty's off road does make a lower control arm with more clearance where you need it, or you can adjust the factory spindle stops to where you have no rubbing for free👍
  5. so i searched and came up with 28,837 results here, i went through 5 pages, no mas. i have a factory XJ dana 44 id like to use in my 1990 comanche. are new spring perches all that i need for the swap? if you have done this swap, any advice is appeciated and pics would be great. thanks in advance
  6. i have one ill be installing in my HP dana30, follow along on my build "project 10BEARS"
  7. real nice truck👍
  8. Scored a 231 with a SYE and another front shaft today which seals the fate on my 2 door parts XJ, it will be sold with the motor\trans\transfercase intact, ill just pick up another AW4
  9. thanks alot👍 ill try to keep the updates coming
  10. Well the hood cleaned up pretty good, but i lied, there is a quarter sized rust spot on near the back edge along the cowl. so ill have to work on that before it gets scuffed and prepped for paint. and these are the wheels ill be running, they are the very first parts purchase of the project almost 2 years ago. originally i was gonna build a 2 dr XJ, but the Comanche popped up for sale and changed the whole plan. i love how these wheels look with this color MJ\XJ.
  11. I'm thinking about running black carpet with the black ZJ leather seats and the rest of the interior tan like the dash i just picked up. what do you guys think?
  12. best $220.00 ive ever spent. rust free hood, rust free power doors, near perfect header panel, and a real nice dash and misc plastics. the best part? theyre already moss green pearl so thats the color I'm going with. hood has a mint factory under hood liner and when i have it painted i won't have to have the hood and doors jammed. i just need a set of front fenders now, i need to decide do i go stock, or Hanneman fiberglass. I'm leaning to the stockers because i like the stock flares alot. but the glass fenders will look cool with front and rear tubular bumpers i plan on running sorta like a pre runner look👍👍 lets get it!
  13. rather than pulling mine out of my Commander, i ordered a couple off Ebay tonite, we'll see how this goes.
  14. thank you again, this may change my color choice on the restomod, I'm really torn now between white and moss green pearl metallic
  15. its kinda funny, I'm pretty close to Mt Clemens Mi., but i bought this Comanche in western Michigan in Three Rivers. i guess i brought her home👍
  16. thanks Eaglescout. so i see a stripe pkg, and it seems like the premium interior, in your opinion is this an Eliminator Comanche? i guess this is what it may have looked like when new?
  17. 2005-2010 jeep commander, they have 4 per vehicle, and theyre 6$ used on Ebay, and i bet even cheaper at a pick-n-pull. ill measure mine tomorrow, my daily is a 2007 commander.
  18. has anyone ever tried using these as a replacement for the Comanche's?
  19. build date on the door is 6-90
  20. just some of the parts ive been collecting and refurbishing, HP dana30 including new axle seals, new polyurethane upper control arm bushings, Volvo G80 locker, and 4:10 gears, tow hooks, ZJ grand cherokee leather seats, and armrest.
  21. humble beginnings, 1990 short bed, suspected Eliminator. i posted in the registry to see what it actually started life as.. my plan is to convert to 4wd with a HP Dana30, and AW4\231 combo. i have a 1987 2 door XJ with all the parts needed including a rear D44. i already have a Zone 4.5 lift that I'm going to use with Fox 2.0 shocks and 33-10.50-15 tires on 10 hole gamblers with rivets. Once the mechanicals and lift are all sorted ill straighted out the body the best i can, replace the doors and have it painted moss green pearl metallic, a pioneer stripe pkg because i like that better than the eliminator stripes. the 2 door XJ pictured is a pic from google, its my inspiration for the build, and this project started over a year ago when i aquired a set of 4 10 hole rivet gambler wheels before i even owned the Comanche👍
  22. white, 1990 2wd automatic, 4.0, ps, pb, ac, bucket seats, grey interior, vent windows, manual door windows, rear slider window, full center floor console, floor shift. i suspect this is an Eliminator, it has a factory fog light switch, and possible factory Eliminator belt line stripes painted over by previous owner.
