  1. That looks great man. I keep seeing cool projects like this, and I keep putting them in my brain for when my son is a little older. Great work
  2. Search "Bed Bob". You can cut much more than 8" out of your bed, but then you get creative with shackle mounts. Just look around and gather info through searching. Check out some of the TOYOTA guys as well on Pirate4x4. It the same idea with either truck. I'd do it the way that MNKYBOY did and leave the floor of the bed intact, it ends up looking cleaner that way. MNKYBOY bobbed his short bed Best longbed bob I've seen is "my wife's MJ" in the projects section.
  3. Alright. Well I ended up snapping outer shafts when I started using the jeep to pull people out, and showing off. Hubs were a routine (2-3months) because I liked to play in the water.
  4. I'd say go for it, the 8.8 will be fine. And for what your doin down there, you should be just fine. Keep an extra wheel hub set with ya lol... Gotta love the sand. I graduated from Port Aransas HS... And I know just a lil bit about sand haha
  5. I re-used all of the renix accessory brackets except for the Power Steering Bracket. The belt size I needed came out to 100.5"
  6. Yeah. And it works great. But when it comes around to bigger axles, keeping the rig low COG, and weight. A 3 link is MORE than sufficient. But then again, most people's 3 link still has 4 links. 2 lower, one upper, and a pan hard/ trac bar.
  7. Haha yeah, please post up the results from such an inquiry.
  8. What questions do you have? I've built a few. Honestly I wouldn't consider a 4 link in the front unless you plan on desert racing or anything like that. An front 3 link is more than capable for almost any situation, and a rear 4 link is ideal IMO. Feel free to PM me or ask questions on here openly.
  9. Never used the eBay ones on a jeep. But I used to go through ball joints quite a bit on my old Dana35TTB in my Broncoii. Then again, I was running 37" tires. I tried the eBay ones and the lasted me about 3 trips out wheelin. But the MOOGS were much better. I almost had to try and get them to go bad. I ended up buying the eBay sets for back ups and using the MOOGS on a constant.
  10. Good to see another RBV guy here. Sold my no where near stock Broncoii and ended up with my MJ. You won't regret it.
  11. I should have been more clear. Snow is okay, but icy roads or rainy conditions it should not be used. Down here where I'm at, y'all would laugh at what we call snow. But it makes it easier for a guy like me to make a small buck on the weekends :) And MVUSSE, yeah it gets old real quick but it works. It's worse when you forget your unlocked and in about 3' of water trying to go up a ledge... Swimming sucks when it's 40 outside.
  12. On your 60, just leave one hub unlocked when wheeling, then lock it when you need it. Hydro will help no doubt. With the Locrite, both of the previous comments are correct. Yes it will always be working. But when in 2wd you will never know its there. Just no rain or snow use. Be sure to upgrade your axles to the ones with the bigger joints, and fresh unjoints are a good idea as well.
  13. Need to build a shroud to keep the junk off the belt... Lol
  14. Girz and AZ are correct. 1929 Model A coupe. I've watched it sit for te past 6 years, pretty depressing. Went over to my buddy's grandads shop and he was pulling it out of the garage! With a little work it fired right over and down the road we went. And AZ, that's pretty neat to hear. I had the "luxury" of leaving but I ended up coming back. There is still a peanut butter factory. But the football team is... Well... Well just say its not the best haha.
  15. Well, besides the Power steering whine. The MJ has been running great. Even pulled my buddy's 2door JK out of a lake bed last nite with ease. Never got over 170* on the temp with a 195* thermostat. But we did decide to work on a vehicle today. And it was a real treat to be honest. Can anyone say where this pic was taken from?
  16. As it sits for now, and probably for awhile.
  17. I see that part of my sentance didnt get put in my post... I didn't read the number. Recognized the instrument panel. I took my private class in one. Picked up an old J3 Cub in March to restore. But the wings are going to have to be clipped due to damage during transport. And thanks for the input Neohic. When I had my Broncoii, I had a grab handle there for entering when the doors were off. And i catch myself grabbing for it every now and then. So that's why I was curious.
  18. Jim:You wanna know something funny? That's a Cessna 172N skyhawk :) Neohic: how happy are you with the A Pillar set up? I was looking into them but I'm not sure if they will be in the way during trail use or entering/exiting the MJ
  19. I looked into doing a gauge cluster swap, and decided to just go with manual gauges. If I'm going to take the time and put gauges in, they may as well be correct. Even though I need to straighten the gauges up lol. I hooked a Toggle to the lights so I can turn them off during the day, or on longer trips. Here's mine
  20. The fluid it regular P/S fluid, and there are no leaks on the system. I guess a good flushing is in order since the fluid got murky and bubbled. I was just wondering if anyone had run into something like that before. I'll be back in TX tomorrow night an ill finally be done with this Canada junk. Then I'll be able to diagnose it a little better. It's just wierd that it would happen at random with no signs of going out.
  21. Priceless
  22. So I asked a buddy of mine to go start and drive my MJ around while I was out of town to try and break in the new motor. My wife calls and asks why it's making a funny noise when the tires turn... This has been the quietest, cleanest, tightest pump I've ever owned. I've never heard a whine from it at all. During the entire motor swap process, the PS cap was never removed, and the pump was never put in a bind when laid over and tied to the fender well. My wife was out there with my friend when he started the MJ, and it was screaming. He said it was full of bubbles so he let it settle down and found the pump maybe a half inch low so he topped it off, put the cap back on and started the truck. Fluid was spraying a solid stream a good 3 feet away from the truck... When I get home I'm going I look more I to it. But I wanted to know how tough these pumps are. If something were to contaminate the fluid, is the pump usually saveable? The truck has sat in a covered parking spot since this past Sunday,
  23. Go start your truck and turn your wheel from lock to lock. If it pops or you feel a bump. 5 bucks says its a control arm bushing...
  24. On the same note. What sise screws are used for the trim panels? About half mine are missing from web the PO removed the headliner...
