What the hell lubes the bearings? Dana 35 non-c
pamike replied to Automan2164's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my dana 44 in my old 78 cherokee was like this. it had an inner seal. just pack it with wheel bearing greese... now the wierd thing is i had a non c-clip axle in my 88 comanche and i don't remember an inner seal. i went through this on my cherokee. it seems that some get lubed by the gear lube and some use the bearing greese. i guess jeep couldn't make up their mind on this. i believe i used a slide hammer with a hook on the end to remove the old inner seal. -
i think i seen somthing one time saying that a wrangler yoke will work and is longer than an mj yoke.

Command Trac Dana 30 vacuum line replacement?
pamike replied to mpace6a's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
theirs a vacuum actuated dissconect on the right side axle shaft. it's not needed and theirs not really any benifit of keeping it functional. you can pull the vacuum motor off of the back of the axle and lock it perminantly so theirs no more lines to deal with. theirs alot of write ups on this just search it up. -
here's a vid of my exhaust. cherry bomb extreme single in dual out.

i don't know if it's what your looking for but i got the hellcreek AAL and it is made to add some extra load capacity to your springs. i'm very happy with it. it DID NOT add any lift to my truck. it's basically an extra main leaf with the eyes cut off. i put it in when i swaped in the dana 44. if thats all your looking for then i'd reccomend getting a set from hellcreek

i got one off an 88 but it's in central pa and you'd have to come get it. i'm not messing with shipping

front axle vaccuum disconnect is not working. most likely a bad/ loose vac hose. or your front drive shaft is missing
-
i think you just cut off the xj shock mounts. your mj shocks mount to the spring plate

harry's-u-pull-it. in hazleton. they had a few mj's last time i was there. the one had a 4.0 auto. so it should have 3.55's.

or how about this one? same company http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Che ... ccessories

well i was acctually looking at this. http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... ucts_id=90 because i'm probably not going to be getting a winch anytime soon. then i ran accross the ebay bumper. i know it's not the best looking but i was interested in it because it has the tow points i want and the price is good.
-
found this on ebay. what does everyone think about it? i don't really need a bumper thats extremely heavy duty. i just want somthing i can pull people out with, or get pulled out. and the price is good to. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/84-01-XJ ... 3a6392dcc1

i'm having idleing issues with my jeep and i'm looking for a used iac for my 88 comanche with the renix 4.0 manual trans if it matters. just wanted to see if anyone had a used one in good working condition that they would sell cheap. if i find one local i'll delete this.
-
oh and one more thing, i did find out if i give it gas before it stalls the first time i can rev it normally but it will idle really low and want to stall but will eventually idle normally after i drive for a while.
-
ok lately i've been having an idleing problem. probably for about a month now. when i try to start it, it will fire up but just die. then the second time i try it it usually stays running. somtimes it will almost stall when i push the clutch in to come to a stop but it usually catches itself and idles back up. it doesn't matter if the motor is cold or hot. every time i shut the truck off and go to restart it this happens. i don't know if it's related or not but for as long as i can remember when it's cold out (winter time) i have to let it warm up for a least 5 minutes before driving it. if i don't it usually idles up to about 2000-2500 rpm and stays there until i shut it off and let it set for at least 10 seconds and then i restart it and all is fine.it won't idle below 2000 no matter how long i drive it. i have to shut the truck off. so if anyone can help i appreciate it.

that is definitly a 1980. i'm 99.9999% sure. the drivetrain and the style of the wiper motor were the first things i seen that gave it away. and 80 was the last year for the brow above the windshield.
-
how do you know it's not still there? you weren't there to see for yourself. i was just there last weekend and i told you the same day i saw it that it was there. and it was a 4.0 auto 4x4 so it should be the 3.55 gears like i told you. it's only a 1 hr drive so go grab it. you can get the whole thing for like $50
-
dude, i'm only going to tell you this one more time. it's about a 2 hr drive for you. come and get my d35 for $25 and use the parts to fix yours or just fix mine and use mine. did you go to harrys u pull it in hazleton like i told you?? don't go saying that you can't find anything anywhere when i told you multiple times that harrys has a complete 3.55 dana 35 there. i told you that last saturday. if you wait to long it probably won't be there. and don't say it's to far because harrys is only about an hour away from you

the only thing i can think of, is the cluster out of a jeep with the same engine? do you know for sure the cluster is in working condition and not broken? and do the connections in the back have good contact. other than that i don't know. mine was plug and play
