  2. From running it through a couple different translators, it appears that the person found the Yahoo group a few days ago, and would like to establish contact with you. :dunno:
  3. I could, yes, but I don't have that kind of money to spend. I'm on a very limited budget every month, so what I can get done is a build up of more than one month's budget. I'm starting to finally get on the right track money wise, but it's still quite limited. As for the knuckles, I have no clue, she is parked in storage now, and I'm still battling lung infection, so I can't go too far for too long to check. Thanks Brent, I'd appreciate that. Even though this one is in excellent shape, it never hurts to have a spare. If you'd like, I have a regular XJ/MJ header panel you can have in exchange.
  4. So, let me get this right. It runs good, even though it doesn't have a motor or transmission, but the camper shell does? If it has a 'broke' axle like she claims it does, I'd take the trailer to be safe. Good luck with it, and even if you don't pick it up, grab pics!
  5. You now have my attention. I'm looking into what it takes to 4 link the rear on Baby, so I'll be watching this build closely for inspiration.
  6. :huh???: I disagree :waving: . I just picked up one of these up too Beaterjeep - for a future project. Rob, it is an acquired taste, I will admit. I've actually been looking for one for a while now, and this one was linked to me, and I knew I had to pull the trigger on it. I was actually in talks with the guy about it while I was still in the hospital! Rich, I'm definitely interested to see what you have in mind as well. Next item on my list to get is a Dakota/S10/whatever racerback, so I don't have to cut a hole into the MJ one.
  7. Holy thread revival! Nothing has been done new for a while, other than I parked her in storage until I can get time/money to get her on the road again. I did however pick up something new for her. Here's a bit of a sneak peek. :clapping:
  8. Well, I finally decided to get my XJ on here. I've only had it sine October, so it's overdue to make an appearance. This will be a slow build as well as Baby, but this one will see a bit quicker work, as it's my current DD and trail rig. You can clearly tell in the pic below that Baby is definitely lowered. A bit rusty, but no big concern to me. Olympic Edition FTW. :chillin: Full gauges with almost 170k on the clock. That's all I have for now, but future plans include: I'd like to go with a 4.5" lift down the road, but probably going to do a 2" BB for a while, 31's at minimum, 2x6 rockers/rock rails, new front and rear bumpers with tow points in rear, get rid of the bent rear hitch, new hatch, and fix the hole in the drivers side floor. Paint will be done this summer, in a burnt copper with black lower edges.
  9. Got a tracking number for Baby's new front end. It should be here either this weekend, or early next week. :clapping:
  10. I can't remember where it is anymore, but there is a few pics on here of an MJ with a newer (around 2000) style S10 rear bumper on it. It flows pretty well with the body lines and gives it an all around smoother look IMO.
  11. It is a 97+ front end with the lower section of the header panel cut to fit Commander lights. As for the 'just a hole cut in a big flare for the light', them are TJ front flares I believe. As someone already stated, check out NAXJA, there's a lot of people doing the Commander light swap. Me personally, I don't really care for it too much, but at the same time, it is something different, so in that sense, I like it. Heck, I recently bought a Waggy header panel to put on Baby, since it's different. :clapping:
  12. Apparently you don't like a jacked up @ss end? No @ss end is ever going to be perfect, you know? :rotf: mine takes jacked up to a whole new level :rotfl2: the back end's easily 5 inches higher than the front so it's literally "jacked up" (not for much longer tho :D ) SOA in the rear and stock in front? I know what you mean by jacked up though, Baby is lowered 3" in the front and stock in the rear for now. Although I kind of like it, I want her even lower all around.
  13. I'd start by checking the wiring behind the driver's side tail light. Check for any corrosion on the tabs, and any broken (weather checked, loose insulators, etc) wires. It could merely be an issue of a corroded tab not getting enough power through it. Also check the ground back there, IIRC it's connected to the bed somewhere back there. Someone more knowledgeable than I should be able to correct me if I'm wrong.

  15. I'm one of the very few that can admit to a 2.5 breaking not only a D35, but also an AX5. This story is the reason I don't know what ratio Baby has. I was on my way to the at the time girlfriend's house and came up on a corner; went to downshift into 3rd, and had a mental lapse, accidentally slamming it into 1st. As soon as I let off the clutch, that was all she wrote, the dreaded big bang in the rear. It sat out at the girlfriend's place for almost a week before I could get it home, and in the meantime, a friend had bought an XJ to take the motor out of. So, once I got Baby over to my friend's place, I took the cover off Baby (not remembering there's actually fluid in a diff. ) and it only took one look to realize why she wasn't going anywhere. The spiders decided to multiply like rabbits, as there was probably a good 20 pieces of them on the bottom. We took the entire assembly out of the XJ and swapped it into Baby, and to this day, them 4wd/4.0/BA10-5 gears are going strong in a 2wd/2.5/AX5. Even though the trans is now essentially shot, but that's anouther story altogether. :D
  16. How did he know I didn't want to break my code to get it! He must be a better ninja than I am, and therefore must be taken out!
  17. Essentially everything can be swapped over. The main differences are the radiator core support and hood are different. They can be swapped, but it would be taking a step backwards in safety, as the '86 used a center mounted latch system and the '87+ used one latch on each corner of the hood. If the motor/trans setup is the same, most everything is interchangable as well. In other words, if it's a good deal, GRAB IT and don't second guess yourself. Also, welcome to our little corner of insanity!
  18. ^ Is correct. Also had his old Ram parked in his lawn when we met.
  19. ^ Wants Baby's racerback back, and will end up with it. :brows:
  20. :fool: That poor XJ. I bet it hasn't even ever seen anything but the pavement either.
  21. ^ Needs to get a stable Jeep to drive.
  22. What do I listen to while driving? You don't want to know! I'll name a couple, but I know I'll take a lot of flak for it. Usually I listen to Kottonmouth Kings, Kingspade, or Twiztid. I also listen to a lot of classic rock; The Doors, Eagles, Grateful Dead, etc. Occasionally I have been known to listen to some country as well; Jason Aldean, Rhett Akins, mostly the newer stuff. If I'm in a bad mood I listen to a lot of Opeth, Mastadon, In Flames, etc. When I'm just in a weird mood I'll listen to a lot of Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys. So, yes, I have a wide spectrum of musical tastes depending upon how I feel at the moment.
