IIRC, they are a little bit short. But then again, I may be wrong, it's been known to happen.
-
Yep, that's about all the problems I've had with it other than having to have the gas cap a little loose so the tank don't build pressure, oh and don't feel too bad the 86 prefers premium as well. As for the rear main, would the seafoam I put in have anything to do with it? It seems like it slowed dramatically after I put it in. It sucks that your stereo got jacked, I've had that happen as well in my old 94 cavi wagon. Hope ya find it.

http://www.myspace.com/beaterjeep what else would I have, lol.

Since this topic has been brought up now, what about the 4.3L? Does anyone know if that is a direct swap as well, because I know where there's an S-10 sitting with a 4.3 Vortec that runs for only $400.

muffler or straight pipe??

yea and it sounds like you are being fired at when it back fires, unless that got fixed for ya. lol. Alex Nope, still backfires like a son of a if ya let off the gas quick, so I've learned to be a 2 foot driver, slowly let off the gas with the right and slowly press the brake with the left, plus this way I'm not reaching for the clutch. At least not as much as I used to be anyways. -
Well, I am finally moved into my new apt. and got net up and running, but along the way I had to fix the 86. I got a full load of my stuff from my mom's garage and along the 15 mile trip from her house to my place the 86 decided to die about halfway there. She sputtered for about a mile and then died out, so I just thought that the tank had built up pressure again, so I got out to loosen the fuel cap and there was no pressure. This had me thinking because I had almost a full tank of gas in it, and I've noticed before that if the fuel cap is on too tight it will create pressure in the tank and not run quite right, so I thought that was it, but it wasn't. Thankfully I had my cell phone with me, so I called a local garage to come pick up my truck. A few days later, I got a call from them asking me to come down to the shop. I asked him why he wanted me to come down there and the only answer I got was "You'll see when you get here" this had me really worried because my first thought was that they noticed the exhaust and notified the cops about it (some shops around here are known for doing things like that) So, I get down there and the guy shows me the fuel filter off my truck, completely plugged up with dirt and grass, yes I said grass. Also come to find out that the pump had fried so that's why it died on me, so after a new pump and filter and a couple cans of sea foam (one for the tank and half a can for the oil) I walked out of the shop $200 poorer, but I had my truck back and could continue moving. I'm happy to be back and report that the 86 now runs better than ever since I've had it and it barely leaks any oil now.

I got an 86 with the 2.8L that has no cats and dual glasspacks, and I kinda like the sound it gives off. My only problem is that the local cops don't care for it, I just tell them that's the way I bought it and they leave me alone. -
That is odd, I just looked on motorwings as well, and it appears that they no longer carry them, so it looks like matrixracing is the last choice out there. And also in my own stupidity, the price on matrix IS for the pair, got to thinking why would they sell only one at a time.
-
It was www.matrixracing.com they were even cheaper than I picked mine up for. EDIT: Just looked at the site again, and it is about $33 EACH LENS. So, now that I think of it, I did get a better deal because mine were $45 for the pair w/ $10 ship.

HHMMMM, looking at those pics, maybe I should've stashed that rollbar in the back on paul's truck and not let ya know it was there :brows:

Yes, Alex, I did actually get the clears for it and have pics here in the pub as well. Just waiting to find/get a set of headlight bezels and a few cans of duplicolor gloss black to paint them, the grille, and the racerback. Dang this thing is gonna look nice when I'm done (hopefully). Just got my new apt. so, I'm broke as can be right now, and it's too cold to paint anything outside, so I might just leave the cap on it until spring and then try to sell it, (the cap, not the truck) and GIT-R-DONE. EDIT: also, does anyone know why the 88 looks wider than the 86? Or am I just looking at the pics wrong?
-
:agree: Por-15 is excellent, I still need to get me some for the 86.

I ordered them on of all days Sept. 11th, and I had to send an email to them a week later because I hadn't got them. They responded actually pretty quickly, and said they had them just laying around and would send them out right away if I still wanted them, and they would reimburse me the $10 ship charge, so I took them. Three days after that they were in my hands, so in all it took a little over a week for me to get them, but now, I'm sure they would send them out right away, because the email I left was not nice at all. They were $45 w/$10 ship, and I like them a lot, I'm glad I got them. www.motorwings.com and go from there.

Well close, more like the old lady wasn't watching for my blinker and clipped the right side of the bumper, the left side, I backed into a cement pole. Then a couple years ago, I decided to give her a flying lesson and catch about 6 feet of air under her, and kinda had a rough landing, so the bumper ended up the way it is now. As for the 86, like I mentioned, it seems to be fixing itself, if that's even possible.
-
That'd be great, what condition they in, not that it really matters too much to me, cuz I'm gonna paint them black anyways, and how much ya want for them?
-
Well, I also have pics of the new clear corners I had ordered a while ago now, just need to get a pair of headlight bezels/doors, whatever they are called, and put them on the 86, but here they are off of it. Oh, and BTW I had a major conflict with motorwings.com on these, so they ended up being real late and I actually had to leave them a nasty email to get them, but they did reimburse me the shipping charge, so that was an extra $10 in my pocket.

Ok, I finally got back to an internet connection, so I thought I'd stop by and say hi, and post some pics of my 88 and 86 together, since I finally got the 86 back. Even though it's not fixed yet, I'm still driving it, and finding that the more I drive it, the less the rear main leaks (yes, I have been checking the oil levels), anywho, on to the pics Sorry for having so many, I kinda went pic happy from finally getting the 86 back.
-
That's a pretty low price, in my opinion, I'm amazed no one took ya up on it. If I had the money for it and the shipping, I'd be on it in a heartbeat. Debt sucks.
-
Ok, thanks alex, I'll be here at a cousin's house for about another day or so, after that, I'm not sure when I'll have access to the net. Cole, I wasn't sure who you were talking to on the system, so if you weren't talking to me, Sorry.
-
Well, as tempting as it sounds, I'm kinda dead broke after buying the 86 and will be even further in debt after I get it fixed. Later on down the road after I get out of my debt and have some extra spending money, I have a sweet 3 sub setup I've been thinking about doing for a few years now, and now that I finally have bucket seats, it will work out.
-
Thanks Alex, if ya could, could ya send me directions on how to do it, and what I'll need, so I'll have them if it comes down to that? Right now the only thing I have is time, so that's not a big problem.
-
:rotf: You installing a sweet system when you wire that gadget in? I think I'm one of only a few with a sub. Not true, in my 88 at one time I had 2 12" VR4's with a 800 watt amp. Took it to a DB competition that a local sound shop has, and I hit 135.4 with it. Now if only I had my computer I could post pics of it. Had to sell the setup for work on it.
-
Yea, the guy we took it to says it leaks from more than the rear main, and he also claims that it has a tick, yea right, I never heard one, so we think he's just making excuses because he don't wanna work on it, so we might be taking it elsewhere soon.
-
not true. you have the 2.8L V6 and Selec-trac badges. lol. yea sorry bout that. i had to hunt for those badges that i had on the 86. got some from people here on in the club, some from JYs, and a few from ebay. if you can't find any 86 style ones i can send ya the lower case ones off the 91. just let me know if ya need em. Alex Oh, yea, I forgot about them ones. I guess it's easy to forget what it looks like when last time I seen it was when we got back at 11:30 at night. As far as finding new ones, ah, I think I'll worry about that whenever I get it back. Which right now is up in the air.
-
Nice find, and they look good in the graphite as well. I've been looking for a set of them for almost as long as I've had my '88, no one around here wants to part with theirs.
