After a couple months of waiting my dirtbound extreme winch bumper came. Painted it with rattle can primer then used rust-oleum premium truck bed liner. Went over that with satin clear coat. This is the fit before cutting the fenders. Had to cut the flares and the fenders. The fender flares were a nightmare, I didn't even try to reuse the galvanized brackets with the rusted studs. I bought a set of nuts and bolts from harbor freight and just used big washers and multiple nuts. They're pretty tight and flush but I may go back and figure out how to get them super tight. After I figure out what to use to replace the inner fender liner that is completely disintegrated.

I went rattle can, mostly because I've put all the money towards meaningful upgrades, but it also gives me the ability to do touch ups from any inflicted damage. I really like the krylon camo super flat paint. Goes on evenly. I sanded and primered most of the body first. I did it in stages mostly due to time. The old front bumper had a couple brackets that snapped and we're going to be very difficult to loosen, and I was waiting on the new front bumper from db. Once the bumper came I felt good removing the old one and getting to work.

Some action and glamour shots from before I painted. This truck is a workhorse, I've used it to drag logs and clear land.

Need help with hood pins
billyblankss replied to billyblankss's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Damn yeah looks like I messed up. Was able to unscrew them and get them out but would have loved a way to fix them or at least get the bolts out again. Just can't push that button to get it open. -
Based on all the advice in these forums, I purchased some hood latch buttons from Amazon. Initially they worked really well. Here I installed them The problem I'm having is after putting it all back together and testing it, I maybe got too cocky... I let the hood drop and it $#!& down and now I can't get them to release. I couldn't find any posts or videos to try to get these things open. I push on the button but it's just not budging. The round head bolts are in there... Just looking to see if anyone else had similar issues.

When you ordered the manta ray bumper, did you also get any of the other goodies like the hitch mount or armor? It all seems to tie together nicely, now i kind of wish i had just bought it back when i got the bumper to take advantage of the free shipping.

Hey - manta ray bumper is sick. I have just the one truck it's the sport truck. Here are the flush mount reverse lights I bought. They have two modes, one is a strobe. I only wired them for reverse though. They sent me the license plate screws that have the LED bulbs with the order, did you get some too? Stroker throttle body is absolutely worth it, if nothing else it's just good housekeeping for your engine. He sent it very quickly and refunded quickly after i sent the old TB. I realize it looks like i have two trucks because I had to go back and post some old stuff - i had the iphone and switched to an android. The file type for the iphone pictures (.HEIC) wouldn't post. I've done a lot of work since my posts today, will try to catch up soon.

Ordered the stroker bored throttle body and swapped that in. Original throttle body looks like a dirty butthole. That thing's so nasty it ruined the picture quality... Look at that disgusting IAC tip. Bleh. Looks like it was dipped in nesquick. Disgusting. So that's gone. Seems to hum a little nicer now.

Got my light bar mounts. On eBay for 100 and they add text. This build and rig will now be known as "big iron". Now I wish I knew how to retitle this thread accordingly.... Had the chicks help me open the package Thought it turned out pretty decent...

Working backwards here, ordered a set of bosch 4 hole injectors off eBay for $50 and swapped them in... Old ones were grubby looking. I'm guessing they have no value so I should trash them unless they're redeemable somehow Old vs new. Used some grease and got them all in the fuel rail. No leaks and it seems to hum along pretty well.

Lined that bed. Started by sanding and primering and rust sealing everything. That gray paint is the self etching primer. Lots of purple power and dish soap. And scuffing and sanding. Looking back I really wish I had done the whole thing outside of my shop instead of just doing the sanding. I was worried about wind and bugs. But the dust created just from the spray liner made every surface in the shop need to be cleaned. Worth it though. After the primer dried I used a paint brush and a quart of the rust-oleum berliner in the paint can. This adhered wonderfully but you have to move the brush very quickly because this stuff dries super quickly. And you can use tons of mineral spirits or acetone but you're not getting that brush back. After the hand applied brush layer I used two cans of the rust-oleum premium bed liner spray. To get an even look and finish I used three cans of the harbor freight brand bed liner, it has a gritty texture and adhered very well.

Working backwards some, I wanted to post some of the other work on this rig I recently completed. Hated dealing with proportion valve not being there so I ordered the hardware from one of the other posts... I was helping my buddy with his jk install off road lights and a rough country switch panel/breakout box. Somehow the negative terminal in the breakout box snapped and he called RC and they gave him a new one. So I fixed his older broken one. And of course I used oxgard on advice of cruiser 54 to prep the connection to the frame.

Got some new (used) shoes. I got the front end alignment done by this old dude who has been doing it by hand for like 50 years. He pointed out the duratrac tires I have were nearly bald. After looking into the cost to put a new set of decent tires (650 before installation costs) I couldn't help myself. I went on fb marketplace and found a set of mickey thompson sidebiter II wheels with nearly new Kelly Edge A/T tires. I agree to pay dude 600 and put them on same evening. I think it looks better and it was a better deal for some aftermarket wheels.

I've searched through this forum and haven't seen any recent threads on this. I'm looking to get rock sliders that also function possibly as a step in and out of the vehicle. With the lift I have it's just enough to be a pain in the @$$ for me and/or the wife or passenger to get in the car. I saw dirtbound has the deluxe sliders that look great. They mount in three places and have a step. I've gotten both my front and rear bumper from them and they make great stuff... but also it takes about three months to get anything from them it seems. https://dirtboundoffroad.com/products/deluxe-rock-sliders-short-bed-jeep-comanche-mj?variant=30322744688736 Price plus shipping to me is $453 before tax Then there are these JCR ones that mount in two places on the frame but also have a tie-in to the rocker it looks like. They also have a bar that serves as a step. Have not ordered anything from them but i bet it would take less than three months to deliver. https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/MJSL-CL.html Price after free shipping - $449 Is there any other site you are aware of that makes short bed comanche sliders? I am talking to krustyballer but can't really navigate his facebook page to see the sliders (or price plus shipping) but i'm also facebook illiterate. No idea the lead time it would take for those either. Any feedback or advice is welcome. I added pictures for 'context'.

Figured out why i can't post pictures - all the iphone photos save in HEIC format for some reason.

Multiple Turn Signal Issues
billyblankss replied to 88 Pioneer 4.0's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nice. I figured out yesterday that by cleaning the lighting harness connector (as i saw in cruisers tips) it solved the issue. I used contact cleaner and dielectric grease. If it starts pooping out on me again i will get the new connector.
