Mine was a grounding issue, but I found that the break in the ground was within the socket. Replaced both sockets and fixed the problem. Dorman 85898 socket fit my 88 Pioneer. $10 each at O’Reilly.

All the car parts sites I'm looking at say the Dorman P/N 84716 will not fit my 88 MJ Pioneer 4.0L. Are they wrong?

Thanks for all the feedback! I've updated my signature to include MJ details and I'll let you know if replacing the front sockets works. I've been ordering my parts from am-autoparts.com. Is there another site that is good or better for finding parts for my 88?

I have an 88 Comanche 4.0 Litre and I'm having multiple turn signal issues. With the headlights on the only signal that works properly is the Right Rear. With the headlights off both rear signals work properly, but the front signals do not. Headlights off results in either both front signals blinking or neither front signal blinking. I attached a table that provides the various scenarios. I don't know if I should start by replacing the turn signal arm on the steering column, or replace the bulb sockets and/or wiring first. Suggestions for how to approach this would be greatly appreciated.
