Recently been having idol issues above 180 degrees. Ranging from 1000-2000 rpms recently. been slowly investing in small parts to update her and get her back to perfect shape. Looking at replacing bushings and other wearables that you guys recommend. -
Grey cable is the OEM that I replaced, but now its back in and bouncing after white lithium grease. Replaced ( black cable ) was very very long, and hit the exhaust and melted. I zip tied the slack up to the arm but it melted from the engine bay area. Thank you guys.

have been wanting to ask where you guys ran your slack for the replacement cable. The first time I installed it I put it too close to the exhaust and melted the cable

shucks. I thought of taking it off, but its really useful. I could quickly build a deck across the roof rack and haul camping gear next to the kayak -

I am almost at 10 months and over 10,000 miles with my Jeep. I really can't say I love any other car iv owned more than this truck. Its been so useful from moving hundreds of pounds of material, to fragile objects, gas milage, towing a kushman, roofing kayaks. Its has been my " do all daily" and I can't ever stop obsessing over its looks day after day. Most cars iv owned kind of loose their " new car" fun feeling after a few months. I still have tons of fun driving my Jeep everyday traffic/ or cross country. Thanks to a some patient friends @SoCalManche@Pirate_Staz @eaglescout526, and my own intuition. I am learning slowly, but surely about my Jeep and its quirks. What I should be paying attention to, and looking out for in the future. I have also learned that with no A/C.... its not smart to take girls on dates in the middle of summer. Getting out of my car with a big sweat rectangle on my back..... I have only had one serious scare recently on the freeway my water pump failed. Engine shot up too 270 id say. White Smoke, Loud pop from my upper radiator hose popping off........was a good time...never really want to overheat the old girl again. Still feel guilty for that happening to the Comanche. So I figured Id try, and start replacing some things. I replaced the Water pump - I replaced it along with my T-stat which I ordered a Gates 180 degree thinking it be good for the engine. Now understanding my mistake and the optimal operating temperature and its meaning. Ill be replacing it with a 195. INSTALLED- Gently used turbines with caps purchased from fellow Californians @fiatslug87 @Gjeep . Rotated and balanced. FAILED - replacement of speedometer cable- Cable still bounced and melted against exhaust. Will have to refer to others about proper lubrication ( currently using White lithium grease ) and cable slack routing. New hoses for the heater core Cleaned the throttle ( was holding idol randomly at 1000-2000 RPMS), flushed the coolant again to remove corrosion, ran Thermocure for 3 days. FAILED - I went to replace the pulley for the power steering I found where it mounted to was off center. The pulley had been damaged I assume by a claw tool used to remove it originally. I ordered a new power steering pump from rock auto made by BBB. New Cardone metal pulley / OEM Mopar from Canada is ABS plastic. NOTE- not sure how I feel about anything Cardone brand being on my truck, not the best brand for reliability. Cleaned my LAEC sensor with carburetor cleaner, seemed to function properly. Got a sweet new NOS - dash from @eaglescout526 ( to kind as always ) Just waiting for the switch cover plates from a recent purchase. ORDERED - Gates radiator hoses - ( Upper and Lower ) -
I apologize I just saw this. Thats extremely generous of you! currently I'm working out reproduction on some smaller parts! I have an idea of how to cast them properly outside of the clear lens.

I have room in my place also Pete

Well deserved ! I don't think Id still have my Jeep if it was not for your help! -Cheers!

how should I address this to further prevent corrosion etc?

Today I was driving back roughly an hour away from home. I get maybe 10 minutes away from home. See my temp gage start to spike. My car starts to smell and smoke. I hear a sudden pop and a ton of coolant shoots out the top right of my hood. I pulled over and saw my temp gage continue to spike over 270... thanks @eaglescout526 for helping me out. Thought my Jeep was about to catch fire. Got so hot it turned off at some points and wouldn’t crank. My power steering started to not work. let the Jeep cool down and I reattached the upper radiator hose and started adding coolant. Found a large leak gushing from the front of the car. in between two pulleys. All the coolant I put in seemed to fall right out. I started the car and it sounded fine. Outside the small tapping noise. UNDERSIDE - note all the rust deposits from dried coolant aswell.....yikes. As noted you can see the leaking coming directly inbetween the two pulleys.

I have not, but I assume it’s the original gasket so I went ahead and ordered one.

they don’t really work, but I’m keeping an eye out for someone that does good body work. The previous owner just put the screws that mounted it in the holes. It’s the original, just keep it covered.
