Those are Bendix buckles. Also found in Fords. AMC’s I think was just in house production until the Chrysler buy out when they swapped to the bendix buckles like GM and Ford.

I can ask one of my former coworkers but @jdog probably can find out for us as well.

What is this wire behind front bumper?

Wait. Didn’t the 90 XJ have an overhead console in the limited and Wagoneer limited trims that had a temp readout for the outside temp? -

They all have them. You won’t find an XJ or MJ without the connector and wiring. It’s pretty easy to put in fog lamps using the factory wiring to the switch. -
Those are the diag connectors. 86 only, they are in the firewall. 87-90 they are on the pass side fender. Both have yellow dust covers on them.

Replacing O2 sensor on 4 banger

Underneath. Plenty of room for a wrench to get at actually. -
Installing ac in a non ac manche
eaglescout526 replied to Warthog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You mean evaporator? You’ll need the donor box as the two are different. Plus you’d have to modify your old one to fit and you wouldn’t have the max AC option that cuts off the outside air and recirculates the interior air. the condenser is on the outside the radiator. -
Solenoid is on the starter. Relay is what allows the cracking amps to go to the starter when the ignition is engaged.

Something is shorted to ground. That would be my first thought.

2.5L Throttle Body Removal & Cleaning

Yes that’s the kit we all use to rebuild. Ours is damn near close to a GM TBI set up.- 9 replies

Ha! You aren’t removing that easily. You have to unbolt both manifolds at the same time, unbolt the pipe at the connection, unplug everything and remove the fuel lines(do this at the quick connect to save you some time) and then to separate and replace the exhaust manifold you have to unbolt the EGR tube and the two should be separated from each other. It’s not an easy job. Unless your manifold is trash, cracked and causing issues, drive it.

AC install on a non-AC Comanche
eaglescout526 replied to Elwiscon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That two wire is either the sensor for low washer fluid if it’s side by side. If it’s a T it’s for another washer pump. Like I said, I don’t know much about the 4.0. Others need to chime in on this. I just know more of the 2.5 and where stuff is there. Does your MJ already have an electric fan? And you should look at Renix XJ info as basically they’re both the same under the hood. -

You won't need a complete engine harness or anything. There should be an empty plug, I think a 4 terminal weatherpack connector somewhere thats plugged off by a terminator connector. I don't know where it is on a 4.0L but I know its by the washer bottle on a 2.5L. But its simple to make a harness if you need to. -

Wiring harness, you will need the harness from a Renix era XJ/MJ. But I don't know much about what all the 4.0 wiring harness came with. I just know 2.5Ls don't have the harness present. Otherwise you don't need to go balls to the wall swapping stuff from one Jeep to the other. Just need the compressor, lines, dryer, HVAC box, control panel, condenser, evap, expansion valve for R134. You can reuse the old lines or have new ones made from the old lines. -
Yeah they were! There’s been many times I wish they were still open to get stuff.

Have you reached out to @ghetdjc320 about his reproductions?

AMC 4x4? They’re gone if that’s who you’re thinking of.

No ZJ sway bars out there. Even eBay doesn’t really have any listed but there are XJ ones.

I don't know actually. I’m curious myself. Probably would be way out of a price range.
