Search isn’t helping. Roll bar installation paper

You ask about a roll bar install but don't share any pics or where you got it? -
Slight Miss At Idle -- Only in Drive/Reverse
boxyjeep replied to boxyjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for sharing this. I had an issue a long time back where my CPS wiring was rubbing up against the exhaust manifold, so I replaced it and wrapped it in a couple layers of heat-resistant foil and tape and secured it out of the way. That was the first thing I checked. My harness is heavily shortened/modified and I'm concerned that a solder joint broke somewhere. I'm swapping in an OE harness to see if that changes anything... -
Slight Miss At Idle -- Only in Drive/Reverse
boxyjeep replied to boxyjeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I’m running a new O2 sensor with new injectors and REM is showing proper close loop operation, plus that would likely also be exhibited when in park. It’s tough to see in the video, but the RPM decreasing in gear is expected—but the random misfire isn’t…. I’ll dig into it a bit more tomorrow. -

Got a weird issue with my '88 MJ w/ 4.6L ATK stroker and AW4 transmission. The truck starts and idles fine, but once I put it into gear (reverse, drive, 3, 1-2, etc) it will have a periodic miss. Putting it back into park immediately eliminates the problem. The issue seems to be exacerbated after the engine is warmed up and I've driven for awhile. Initially I thought there was a short somewhere in the wiring harness as the engine/transmission slightly torqued or rotated when in gear, but I've jiggled/moved/stretched everything on the harness and haven't discovered any wiring issues. I also have brand new motor mounts. My assumption is a bad TPS. The ECU side is adjusted correctly, but I haven't checked the voltage on the TCU output. Here's a vid (you can see the slight idle miss): IMG_1379.MOV

Didn’t watch the videos, but is this the Vermont title loophole?

Any interest in these? I’ve started making some prototypes. Still fine tuning the dimensions to match OEM (top).

1988 SoCal Jeep Comanche Build
boxyjeep replied to boxyjeep's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sorry, I guess I should say I wanted the lowest SOA possible—I know the overload leaf doesn’t impact flex much. To achieve this I ended up making my own low profile spring perches and running XJ shackles. The overload leaf would have added about 1/2” of height that I wanted to avoid. I cleaned up the leaf springs, painted them individually, installed new rubber bushings and new spring pads (greased). The Fox shocks are really stiff and look like they have raised the rear a bit themselves. I’ll be doing some driving to see how things settle out. -

I took it out. I know there is a risk for axle wrap, but I’m targeting the lowest and softest SOA possible for the rear. May swap it back in after some driving. -

Been making some good progress and finally have most of the truck back together. I installed 4.5" RE springs with an extra isolator on top, which seems a bit better than the RE 5.5" springs (which netted about 6.5" of lift--too much for me). I painted my 1.5" aluminum steering gloss black, as well as the sway bar (with new bushings). I also installed Clayton's high-steer swaybar brackets, which weld onto the inner C's on the axle: And I also got the rear shocks installed and custom length emergency brake cables installed: There's just a few more odds and ends to wrap up before I can get it aligned and back on the road... -

91 to 96 Cluster swap
boxyjeep replied to WranglerMangler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is the pinout the same between 91 to 96? That's the location of the "Part Time" bulb on older clusters. I'd want to check to see what is feeding that light before jumping to an issue with alternator. -
Seatbelt light on warning panel.
boxyjeep replied to GTGMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There will be no easy way to indicate between 4WD high and 4WD low with the stock sensors, as it only indicates between 2WD/4WD (regardless of high/low range). You'd have to rig some type of sensor on the handle or linkage. For the others, I'd just get a multimeter and do some testing to see why things aren't working. 90% of the time the bulb is out... I fixed all of mine by replacing bulbs and verifying wiring. -
Not true down here in SoCal. Numerous weekly car shows with a huge variety of vehicles. The last time I took my MJ, people were swooning over it. That being said, I've lived in the SF Bay Area and understand how everyone is overwhelmed with the "tech grind" lifestyle...

The kit is high quality and appears to be the same as the Lokar kit that’s 2-3x the price. Probably made in the same factory. -
