  1. with all this being said i am going back with the d30. Just gonna beef it up the best i can..Now will a 30 out of a yj work also or do i need to get it out of a xj. The one thing i am planning on doing is reaming the outer knuckles so that i can go with 1ton tie rod ends. Then go with a semi-high steer deal. All front end components will be 1.5" x .250 dom tube.
  2. holy bjeeezus...that rubi 44 is like 3000 bones...i don't think so..
  3. I am not hard on axles..Everyone has told me I couldnt run 33's on an amc20 w/ a 304v8...been on there since 78..Guess its cause i don't do rock crawlin..for that reason i consider'd going back w/ d30 and beefing up the outer tube..but i could have sworn you could get a d44 front w/ a 5 on 4.5.....
  4. :grrrr: don't tell me that...I got brand new procomp allum wheels..guess i could go back w/ a d30 and run it til it breaks...dayyyyuum if it aint one thing............. :headpop:
  5. Ok here is the situation..I have an 87 longbed...8.25 rear and dana 30 front..Found out this weekend that the d30 is bent so i gotta replace it..What axle is recommended to replace it with and i want to keep the 5 on 4.5 lug pattern and the same width..I know its gonna be asked so the tire size is 36's..
  6. Thank ya hoss.
  7. I know somebody has a pic of the 207 vs 231..If so please post them
  8. The Rough Country kit is pretty good too.. $995.00
  9. :rotfl2: They actually work rather well..A friend of mine made trac bars out of some on his f250 and no problems..However I have already purchased 24' of 1.5" tubing and the bungs to do crossover steering and build me some long arms..I may step up to 2" tube for the long arm though..
  10. I just can't see buying a long arm kit. You can get the same stuff from your local tractor supply company..Little welding..drilling..bam you got yourself a custom long arm kit for WAY less money.. ;)
  11. Has anyone seen/installed/wheeled the 5.5" RE lift? I am leaning toward the Rough Country 6.5" its about 100bones cheaper. Since neither kit is a long arm i could use the 100bones to fab my own.
  12. who needs flex and articulation?? All ya need is the stupid pedal on the right and MASH IT :driving: Yeah ya gonna break stuff now and then but who don't.
  13. Agree with everything said above..However a 3" spacer ought to be ok if you were to use the ACOS setup wouldnt it? Thats what i gotta use on my 87 cause my 36's are rubbing. 8"lift just aint enough..Rear clears easily its the dang front.
  14. sent ya a pm jbhill...I think this is the fork.
  15. what is this freakin thing called? I gotta have one..Motor mount aint no good without one of these. :headpop:
  16. Just thought i would offer up my two cents..If I am correct the RubyExpress 5.5" kit runs some where between 1100-1200 bones..You might want to look at the 6.5" lift frm RoughCountry. There kit comes with this....1. front coils 2. upper & lower adjustable control arms 3. transfer case drop 4. front adjustable track bar 5. adjustable swaybar disconnects 6. pitman arm 7. brake lines 8. 4 Heckethorn 8000 shocks 9. rear lift shackles This kit will set ya back $995 bones. Me and my friends all have had rough country kits on various rides and are yet to ever have any complaints...Anyway this is more than likely the route I am taking on my new 88 project.
  17. somebody help me out here..i gotta get this fixed so i can drive it..like i said this bracket simply looks like it connects the actuall motor mount to the block..i have nothing to compare to but this is on my 87..my 88 don't have this hence it appears to be hanging by the driver side mount only.
  18. doesnt it connect the motor mount to the block? It doesnt appear to do anything else..If you gottem jbhill i need em.
  19. nope..both are 4.0
  20. I am missing this pc on the MJ i just bought. I would call it the motor mount bracket on the passenger side however it is not actually a "motor mount" its more of a connector bracket from the block to the motor mount from the best i can tell..Here is the pic of the one on my 87..the 88 is missing this.
  21. the 8.25 is out of a 92...not sure on the ujoints now that you mention it..I have to check tonight..I wouldnt mind gettin my hands on a pair of 8.8's though :brows: My plan is going to be swap to 8.8 do a soa buy a set of 8-9" springs and build my own long arm kit...Not a whole lot to a long arm kit if you got the tools ;)
  22. I know it was said the 8.8 must come out of an explorer/mountaineer but i believe you can also use one out of a sport trac..Just an explorer w/ a pickup bed..
  23. here is the pics of the 87 on 36's
  24. OK OK..hold on lets back up a minute...I am somewhat clear as to how much lift i will need..My 87 has d30front 8.25 rear w/soa and 3"blocks and front is 8" skyjacker w/custom long arms..Yes the 36's rub on front but rear is clear by a mile..Gonna install ACOS on front to eliminate front rub and no fenders are cut..My question was more aimed at what brand as I have used rough country mostly..Just bought another MJ is reason in asking..May not go as big may just go w/ 33's or so but sure like 36's and they cost the same.
  25. I am gonna put 36's on the MJ...In yall's expert opinion who's lift will best suit me..May just go w/ 33's but already have the 36's.
