    Beer Shifter

It's from a spare TJ shifter that I had. I was at an auto flea market yesterday and picked up a "Jeep" badge that I think is off of an FSJ (I'll figure it out). I'll do a light duty restoration of it then stick it on the fridge door to cover up the Black & Decker logo.
  2. I'm having trouble too. I get the message below. I can get to the "All Activity" page directly though. Sorry, there is a problem The page you requested does not exist Error code: 1S160/2
  3. Looks good to me!
  4. Not sure how to do multiple quotes but thanks to Pete, Jeep Driver & Dzimm. That all makes sense. I'll cut, grind, weld, etc. Just wanted to make sure the original shock mounts with larger u-bolts would work with a bit of modification. Thanks!
  5. For those who have put a 8.25 rear axle into their Comanche (I plan to) did you use the original lower shock brackets? The original axle tube OD is 2.5" while the OD of an 8.25 axle is 3".
  6. I'm guessing that the OD on an original roll bar is closer to 3". By comparison, the OD on a MJ Dana 35 rear axle tube is 2.5" while a Chrysler 8.25 rear end is 3". What you have might not be right but it's pretty neat.
  7. That couldn't be too hard to duplicate. Does anyone have accurate dimensions or even know the outer diameter?
  8. I'm going to put a C8.25 rear end in my MJ as part of a 2WD to 4WD conversion. I have the rear end and am just looking for a Dana 30 front end with matching gears. I'll be welding on new spring perches as you pointed. Will the stock MJ shock absorber brackets fit the C8.25 which has a larger axle tube diameter? I haven't disassembled my MJ axle yet so I don't know if the shock brackets will accept a larger u-bolt. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Your way (2 words) actually makes more sense. Don't get me going though on American vs Canadian (British) spelling. That would require a separate thread!
  10. I stayed in Frederick one night on my way to a lacrosse tournament in Baltimore years ago. I remember driving through New Market (vs. Newmarket) the next morning. I was with my then young son and he asked ... "how come they spelled it wrong" (lol).

I like putting old Jeep parts to good use when I can. This project has made my garage much more functional. Cheers!
  12. Added Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
  13. Great job overall but I really like the way you fabricated your frame hitch and married it to your bumper. Also appreciate the link to http://jeepsticker.com/ . I'll be calling them.

    New From Newmarket

I've been using Krown annually on all of my cars since the late '80s and have never had a rust problem. One thing I do on used cars that I acquire is blow/vacuum/wash out the frame before I send it into Krown. I basically get it as clean inside as I can before they spray it. Once done you don't have to do that again.

Thanks guys. It's in great shape and my plan is to drive it daily along with my other Jeeps. I have a TJ and LJ that are in about the same condition and I drive them year round ... I love driving in the snow. My XJ (above) is a project car - new floors, etc. and it's coming along nicely. The TJ and LJ get oiled every year at Krown Rust Proofing plus I apply it as well as I work on them. The MJ will get done too. This one is a 2WD model and I plan to convert it to 4WD. Other than that I'll likely do a 2" lift and put Moab wheels with 245's on it. I'll use it for camping, hauling bikes and kayaks and daily driving. It's hard to believe but I am the 7th owner, the other 6 having lived only about 25 miles from each other. The 2 and a half hour drive home to where I live was its longest trip in some time. The only modifications are an upgraded radio and the addition of the cleats on the box , which are starting to grow on me. One problem is that it was originally red and was re-sprayed to black. It was done years ago and they did a great job on the doors and jams but under the hood is still red. I'll change all of that to black as I work on it. All of the logos were sprayed with a rubberized paint. I've already "rubbed" them back to chrome.

    New From Newmarket

Great job on the site updates. Now that I can post pics I thought I'd reintroduce myself ... or at least my Comanche. It goes well with my 2r. XJ ...
  17. I just picked up a Comanche and I plan to put a set of seats from a Hyundai Tiburon in it. I've done the same conversion in my XJ, TJ and LJ. I used the stock floor brackets and sliders, made some flat bar brackets and bolted them together with grade 8 hardware.

Thanks Pete. I used to use Photo Bucket but gave up on that a few years ago. Given the current PB situation I'm glad I did! A couple of sites I'm on either act as a host ( The Garage Journal - https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/member.php?u=29786) or allow you to simply copy photos from your files ( Jeep Wrangler TJ Forum - https://wranglertjforum.com/ ). I have no idea how these things work but they seem easy to use. Looking forward to participating on the Comanche Club Forum!
  19. Coming along nicely. It looks a lot like mine ... gamblers and all.
  20. I'm not new to Jeeps but I am new to Comanches. I just bought a 1988 Eliminator and am loving it. If I can figure out how to post pics I'd be happy share some.
  21. At 65 I'm probably on the opposite end of "youngest". I bought my first Jeep in 1969.
  22. I opted to install seats from a Hyundai Tiburon in my XJ and I plan to do it in my just acquired MJ too. I got them out an '03 but I'm sure other years would work. Most small 2 dr. sports car seats flip forward. My XJ is a two dr. so that was important - same for an MJ. I used the XJ floor brackets and sliders and fabricated some simple flat bar brackets to connect them to the Tiburon seats - no welding required, just grade 8 bolts.
