how much lift do I have?
M1A1TankerTom replied to M1A1TankerTom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
well in that case I will probably go with a bigger lift. If I'm at 4 or 4.5 now then I will probably go 6.5. I know I want a little larger than I have now. -
hey guys is there a way to tell how much lift I have? The previous owner told me he thought it was 3 or 4 inches of lift but he did not know for sure. I'm getting stuff together for a three link long arm kit and have been kicking around the idea of adding more lift or not. I kinda want to grab some new 4.5 springs and leaf springs but I don't wanna spend the money if I am already running a 4.5 inch lift. Here is a pic of my truck, its sitting on 32 inch tires. What is your best guess on how tall of a lift I have? Would a 4.5 lift be any taller than what I have now? Is there a way to know or measure exactly what I currently have? Thanks guys.

Looking at "ticking" MJ
M1A1TankerTom replied to GreenF350's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would put money on it that it is an exhaust leak...either cracked manifold or bad gasket. Trust me our comanches are prone to these problems and will make a very loud ticking noise, guess how I know :( -

ya its kinda by middletown....its in Lake County. Some photos were taken in Cow Mountain in Lakeport and some were taken in Elk Mountain in Upperlake. I just moved up here coming up on a year now and I love bein in a more rural setting compared to before when I was living in the bay area. Much more trail time!

so I'm doing as much research as I can. I really want a 3 link setupd because the comanche is not driven on road a lot and I'm looking for the most flex possible. I'm starting to think that not much more is needed than what comes in the upgrade kit. Looking at Motion Offroads MJ lift it is pretty much a RK upgrade kit with some of there own stuff thrown in. So, correct me if I'm wrong...if I pick up the RK upgrade kit, buy a set of coils, and buy some extended brake lines I should be good. I'm already running a RK adjustable HD tracbar and bracket, which will work with long arms. I'm running JKS quick discos which will work with long arms. and then for the rear I would buy a true weld in SOA. Am I getting this right? RK ugrade kit, brake lines, coils, true weld in SOA and I should be good?
-
I knew that the rear portion of the kit would not work on my MJ. That is why I originally called RK was to see if they would just sell the front portion of the kit. But the guy told me they just like to sell the upgrade kits to MJ owners and then I got all confused because I didnt know what else I would need to buy to complete the front or if the parts from my current lift would complete it?

I have some questions concering long arm lifts. I am starting to look for a littler more lift and I would love to upgrade to a 3 link long arm setup for the best flex. I am leaning twoards Rock Krawler's 6.5 X factor long arm kit. I talked with a rep on the phone and he told me that they recomend the long arm upgrade kit because a lot of the cherokee parts in the complete kit will not fit on a comanche. The upgrade comes with 2 lower control arms, 1 upper control arm, long arm mounts, and front differential sperical joint. Now if I go this route what about all the other stuff that is included in the complete kit but not the upgrade kit, such as drop pitman arms, track bar and relocation bracket, sway bar discos, etc? I currently have a 4 inch lift on my truck can I use the parts from that or would I need to buy all new parts to complete the long arm kit? Second question is about a SOA for the rear. If I run a 6.5 long arm kit in the front how much lift would a SOA in the rear give me? Would it be even with the front? What exactly is needed for an SOA? I searched all this stuff but there is not a lot of info on comancheclub about long arms. NAXJA has a lot of long arm topics but nothing really comanche specific. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I hate the red! I have slowly been painting one bodel panel at a time OD green. I can't wait until all the red is gone! Oh and I guarantee its not a photo crop. I was really standing out there, in the snow, freezing my balls off!

ya I thought it was a pretty good deal, the original price was 1560 but my buddy that took me to the shop buys a lot of stuff for his wrangler from them so we beat the manager up a bit and he got the price down and then on top of that they give another 5% off discount to law enforcement officers so that got the price down to about 1236, and then the manager said "well hell, things have been slow so if you set a date to do it with us ill just make it an even 1200"....to which I said how does the first week of december sound (thats when I get my Aussies in the mail due to being backordered).
-
they are doing both axles and gave me a price of 1200 bucks out the door which includes axle rebuild kits and the kits being installed, 4.56 gears and gears being installed, new carriers for front and rear, and the lockers being installed (it did not include the actual cost of the lockers).

hahaha, my comanche lives in the garage...sorry

$500 MJ's Rear Bumpers
M1A1TankerTom replied to 500 MJ's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
if and when you start making rear bumpers for sale let me know, I am interested -
I'm stoked right now. The last few weeks I have been out wheeling my Comanche every weekend and absolutley love these trucks! Anyways I have been doing a lot of research on this board and on NAXJA and finally just placed some orders. I ordered a JCRoffroad front winch bumper with the verticle single hoop, a XRC 9000 winch, Aussie lockers for my 93 Dana 30 front and another Aussie for my Dana 44 rear, and I also set an appointment for 4wheelparts to rebuild both axles, install 4.56 gears in both axles, and install the aussie lockers in both axles. I also ordered a set of Husky floor liners to catch all this mud I have been bringing in the truck. So I am pretty damn excited and can't wait to get all this stuff installed. Just had to share with some people that would understand my excitement!

M1A1TankerTom replied to drase's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
its not hard at all, once you pull off the door panel and look at it it will be pretty self explanatory -
