  1. Thanks Hornbrod I will try this tomorrow.
  2. ParadiseMJ, you were correct. It is the NSS. The truck will start in neutral, but not park. My problem now is I can't get the damn switch off of the shaft. I've taken off the adjusting bolt, the tabbed washer, the attaching nut, and disconnected the connector in the engine bay. The switch will move a little bit up towards the engine but will not come off of the shaft. I've dowsed it with WD-40 and used flathead screwdrivers to remove the grime around and underneath the switch. I pull on it and it just budges a little bit. I do not know what else to do. This is the most useful thread I have found: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_re ... okee_Sport
  3. I replaced the CPS 2 weeks ago and the truck was running fine. Now I turn the key and I can hear the fuel pump and the power comes on, but the engine does not. No clicking sound at all. Does this sound like the starter is bad? I have a 6 cyl.
  4. Great, thanks!
  5. It was the CPS, truck is running fine now.
  6. My 87 Manche was repainted by the previous owner, and he knew nothing about Jeep's. So I have no idea if I have a Chief, Pioneer, or Eliminator. I called Jeep and there computer records only went back to 1990 so there was no info they could give me. Anyone know a way I could find out?
  7. Alright guys after about 30 mins under the truck I could not get the bolts to budge. I do not have an extension and my patience was gone 15 mins ago. I'm getting it towed to my mechanic, who will charge me 1 hr of labor to install it. I give up, the CPS won. I'm ready to be flamed. :D
  8. I just don't see how. It appears the CPS is right against the cowl. Has anyone on here replaced a CPS on a 4.0 2WD without dropping the tranny? Is so, how? I.ve done mine twice, once just because I thought it went bad while troubleshooting another issue. Off is easy: I used a 3/8 drive with a 12" extension, + universal (wrap the universal joint with teflon tape 5-6 time to stop the flop). It's a little tricky at first but it will work out. On: On the bolts, wrap a little teflon tape around the head of the bolt. This will help keep the bolt stuck in the socket and prevent it from falling out into the bell housing. Tighten it by hand first using the extension + universal. You don't want to cross thread anything. Anthony Ajpolitz, did you do this from above the engine or from under the truck?
  9. Not a big deal with an automatic, you can fish it right out with the inspection cover off. I think I know what the inspection cover is, so I assume you got to the CPS from going in from above the engine?
  10. I just don't see how. It appears the CPS is right against the cowl. Has anyone on here replaced a CPS on a 4.0 2WD without dropping the tranny? Is so, how?
  11. So with a 4.0, 2WD is the only way to get to the CPS is to drop the tranny?
  12. 4.0, 2wd. Its also on a incline in my driveway. God, I thought this was going to be easy :headpop:
  13. How do you get to the CPS? I got under the truck and I know where it is but I can't get my hand between the firewall and bellhousing to reach the CPS. And it looks like I have to disconnect alot of wires if I try and reach it from the engine bay.
  14. I just called AAP and they asked if I needed the CPS with altitude or without altitude, I have a 4.0 6 cyl engine, does anyone which one I would need?
  15. WBKrazy, Where did you get the clear lenses from? They look great!
  16. Should I buy a CPS from Jeep or do they sell them at auto parts stores? Any idea how much they are?
  17. What is CPS? I'll check the alternator tomorrow. I just changed the fuel filter 1 week ago.
  18. I was driving and the engine cut off, I shifted into neutral before I ran over the curb, it started up and then after I hit the gas the truck jerked. When I got home as soon as I pulled into driveway it cut off. It kept turning over but would not start, then finally it did. Could this be the battery or the alternator?
  19. Sprayed the creaky door hinges with WD-40
  20. Haulin' home the new mower.

  22. Thanks for the posts guys, I forgot to mention that the door locks and windows are manual, not power. I do have a feeling the wiring is all messed up, I guess I'll just have to dig thru it and hopefully figure it out.
  23. Awesome truck, where did you get that grill guard from?
  24. I just got my Manche and there are a couple of problems with it. The dashboard does not light up at all. When I turn on the headlights the only light that is on is the right turn signal is green constant. Does it sound like the bulbs are out in the dash or a fuse is blown, or both? Only the driver door lock works, but you have to jiggle it. Would a locksmith be good for this? The passenger window does not roll down, it appears it literally starts to scratch the window, before I take the door panel off to look is there something specifically I should be looking for? The windshield wiper switch is totally loose, the wipers work but I almost expect the switch to fall apart any minute, how would I fix this? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm sure you guys know how it is when you get these things. So far I've repaired a leaky rear diff, fuel tank, and tranny; Replaced the rear brake drums, replaced air filter, and oil chg. She drives great.
