When I turn on the MJ as soon as the engine starts running exhaust smell is in the cab. I have to drive with the windows down otherwise it will give me a headache and probably kill me! I've looked all underneath the truck and do not see any holes. Is there any troubleshooting I should do to pinpoint the problem? A friend said it might be a clogged catalytic converter (Is the original 26 yr old exhaust).

The screws that go on the bottom of the gate (when up) and on the sides shipped to 33884. I stripped 2 of mine by accident.

Ok, a buddy just told me about "JB Weld" I might try that, but would that be basically the same as Bondo?

Thanks guys for the advice. I have a buddy who has access to his dad's welder. I'll see if they can do it, if not will take to a shop. I plan on having my MJ for a long time and want the job done right. Once I decide what to do I'll post before and after pics.

I have several small holes that were drilled into my tailgate and bed. They are no more bigger than a pencil's eraser. I plan on putting the roll on Grizzly Grip bedliner. Can I use bondo type products to cover holes or welding the only way to do it right? Is there anything else I could do? I cannot weld, so would have to take it to a shop to do that.

I'm so glad u posted this. I saw a roof rack on a Chev truck build on Spike's "Search & Restore" and it looked awesome! Always wondered what one would look like on a MJ. I say go for it! And please post many day pics!

When I turn the ignition there is a slow whine then constant clicking but the truck won't start. Just to make sure its not the battery I charged it overnight and still the same problem this morning. Could this be the alternator?

Are XJ and MJ lug nuts the same from the factory? My 87 needs some new ones. teamcherokee.com has XJ OEM equivalent that look like MJ ones. Just want to make sure before I buy them.

I'm not sure about the handle as I'm at work right now. But of the 2 I stripped, 1 was from the bottom of the tailgate (it is facing the ground when tailgate is up, and facing bed when tailgate is down) and the other is on the bottom of the sides that holds tailgate to bed. I would really appreciate if you had some non-stripped!!

Need 2 M8x1.25x20 screws that go to the tailgate. They look like this: http://www.lexarindustrial.com/servlet/ ... ead/Detail. I'm kind of anal and would like matching bolts on the tailgate. The above company only sells 350 as the lowest amount, WAY more than I need. Please contact me if you have any or know where any are.

The torx T-40 screws that are on the bottom of the tailgate (facing down when tailgate is up) and the screw on the bottom on the side. Once again, does anyone know if Cherokee tailgate screws will fit the CoManche tailgate? The aftermarket ones at Lowes look bad and was wondering if anyone had 2 MJ ones or know where any are?
