  1. I hope there is someone around here that is familiar with the old 855 mechanical Cummins engine. The truck ran and drove perfect for about 300 miles. These were short trips around an hour long. I took it down to get 8 new drive tires yesterday. They found and replaced two cracked brake drums and mounted the new tires. When I went to drive it home I noticed a lack of power when I shifted into high range. The truck felt like the turbo wasn't working and wouldn't rev past 1500rpms. In the lower range the truck pulls good and the turbo spins up. But when in the top three gears it has no power and the boost goes down. It has the PT pump on it. The air filters look good. What would cause a sudden loss of power. The truck was only at the shop for a couple of hours.
  2. Where's the @$$? And by @$$ I mean donkey/mule. Can't remember which one it was.
  3. Spending money, time and worry on stuff the "guberment" thinks up sucks..... But I have spent all of those on dumber things too. One funny thing about emissions, when I first moved here the people of the state voted to do away with the testing. The state legislature brought emissions testing back despite the overwhelming support to get rid of it. At $25 a pop every two years for most vehicles in the state it's no mystery why they require it. Not for clean air but for fat wallets and campaign contributions.
  4. The answer is NO. You do not need an egr to pass emissions in CO.
  5. Well first it was stated that the egr had to be there to reduce NOx then it was changed to a good running engine doesn't need one. Maybe you should run for president. Also there is no safety inspection.
  6. Well my egr is not functioning on my 88 Renix Mj. The knock sensor is unplugged as well. My truck passes the test with flying colors. The NOx is less then a 1/4 of what is allowed. So it is not needed in this state. I'm going to believe myself over a person from Texas since I live in CO and have tested my MJ 3 times without an egr.
  7. The egr doesn't need to be functioning. They might not even notice its not there. I judt had to go test my 01 xj. They didn't even pop the hood. What I would do is put on a cat. Make sure the numbers on it are on the bottom so they can see them if they use the mirror. Don't worry about the egr. My mj passes without one being hooked up. If they fail you the retest is free. So then you could put an egr on if you had to.
  8. My 88 MJ has the egr blocked but not removed and it also is missing the knock sensor. Ive had it tested three times and never had a problem. They only get nit-picky if you are an a$$hole or if your vehicle doesnt pass and you bring it back for a retest. If you live in Weld Co like me you only have to get emissions on gassers. And if you live east of hwy 85 you don't have to get any vehicles tested. Good luck.
  9. They got painted...... LOL..... You have a great sense of humor and sharp wit to come up with some of the replys I've read from you Jim.

    Rock Auto?

I must have gotten the same trans cooler hard lines. I got them from Rock Auto too. Mine split at the factory crimp from hard to soft. One let go on I70 by Silver Plume CO. The other gave up on the climb up Storm Mountain near the Big Thompson canyon. My guess was the factory crimp was a little too much and caused a fail point. I used compression fittings and hose barbs to fix it for good I hope.
  11. Rental housing is still hard to find around here. Prices to buy a home are up as well. My house increased $60,000 in value in one year and currently is valued $80,000 more then the too high price I paid 4 years ago. Doesn't get me anything but more taxes. Good luck to you. Let me know if you need any help or info. I live just 20 min north of Denver in a small small town.
  12. Congratulations. Take good care of that little girl. There is a special relationship between a man and his daughter. The way you treat her will determine the type of woman she will become and the type of men she dates. Take the time to get it right. Kids just want attention and affection. Give it to them. Every chance you get. The other comments about time going way too fast are true. My little girl is six and I don't know where the years went.
  13. Jesus Christ. Why did you have to show me that. Now I'm obsessed. Fuel injection and that thing would be an awesome family road trip wagon.
  14. You're getting hosed. How do I know? Cause an insurance company is involved.
  15. This is correct. One piece design. The set I got looked great and had nice welds. But... admittedly this was five (or more) years ago.
  16. So many Huskers around here. I grew up in Cherry Co. My old man still lives in Valentine. He has a gun store there. It is on the east side of town on Hwy 2O. Any other NE folk driving MJs?
  17. I ordered a set for my XJ about 5 years ago from rocky road. I got them fast and they fit good. Haven't touched them since. They are really solid and a better design then rough country's or rubicon express'. I didn't have any issues so the customer service aspect I can't comment on. I would probably order another set if I was in the market. Every offroad company has some bad reviews. Look at team Cherokee. Some love em. Some hate em.
  18. So here is what I found. I got a 6v battery charger and found out my little battery is no good. Won't hold more than 3v. I tested the bulb socket with the charger hooked up and couldn't get anything. I could get 6.4v at the taillight and neutral light. Then I downloaded the factory manual and started reading. The voltsge regulator failing will cause the power from the magneto to go through the light switch and then back through the failed regulator to ground. I tested the regulator with my harbor freight red meter and couldn't get a consistent ohm reading. It was supposed to be 80k ohms. I was getting really low readings and nothing the same. So I'm off to O'Reillys to get a new meter. Looks like a regulator that will slide in with no mods is not going to be in my future. I'll update when I find out more. Thanks again.
  19. Thank you kindly for posting that.
  20. I tried posting the wiring diagram but couldn't figure it out. It's the first image that shows up doing a google image search for "sp370 wiring diagram"
  21. Bad link
  22. The problem I'm having is with the headlight. The motorcycle is 6volt and has points. It has a small 6v battery that isn't required for the bike to run. The headlight worked fine before I tore it apart to wire up turn signals. I plugged it back in and it no longer lights up. The tail light still works as it should. One other thing I noticed is now the neutral indicator only works when the lighting switch is on. The battery has gone dead from leaving the key on while troubleshooting with my volt meter. I don't have a 6v charger and the motorcycle hasn't been charging the battery since the headlight stopped working. Maybe the headlight gets power first and is line with the battery. The headlight used to come on if the motorcycle was running independent from the light switch. I have Googled myself looney. The only wiring diagram I have come up with is for a different bike but lines up ok with my wiring. I don't know enough about wiring to get this done myself. I have checked all the connections and cleaned grounds. The bike has a rectifier and a signal flaher on it. I don't know what a rectifier does or how to test it. Any help is appreciated. I'm really hoping someone knows an easy way to troubleshoot this problem. My wife is starting to tell me "you'll never get that piece of ***t figured out."
  23. Rolling a fattie is something I like to do. Growing my own legally while still legally owning firearms is pretty great too. The snowboarding is a perk as well. It is pretty great here. One thing CO needs is for the Broncos to stop choking when it matters. I forgot to add emissions testing to the "hate about CO" list. Some rural areas don't require it but the Denver/north areas do.
  24. Everyone is making CO seem like rainbows and roses. And to a certain extent it is. But what nobody has said is how ridiculously expensive it is to live here. All the taxes are high. Rent is astronomical. I know three people who moved here and then moved back because they couldn't make it work. But they could of been lazy and not tried hard too. I moved here and my life has done nothing but get better. I worked hard for it. But with all the people and all the weird/crime happening I've been thinking about moving back to Nebraska. For what I paid for my house in northern CO I could have bought the biggest estate in my hometown complete with pool and just shy of 300 acres. Hell I don't know what to do now. But I am grateful for my life and family.

    My new car...

I've been in one accident. I over corrected trying to dodge some road debris (chair). It was on I25 as well. It was my girlfriends car. She's now my wife and wrecked the only new vehicle I've ever owned almost the same way. She was trying to miss a bicycle. I should add that both were single car accidents and the cable barrier in the median kept both of us out of oncoming traffic.
