Look under there for some worn out bushings.. But I agree on the control arm angles. -
the 2 inch lift for cheap..?
87Chief replied to coon.hunter_21's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Go to autozone and go to the towing section and get the drop shackles for a chevy for $40.. I put those on and they look nice and add about two inches.. Waiting on my coil spacers now -
how do I keep from ruining my Comanche?
87Chief replied to comancheap's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
From the 2.5L it would be about 20 mpg... I have the same set up as you with 4.11 gears.. I get about 18-20 now with 235/75/15's I'm putting 2" coil spacers up front and chevy drop shackles in the back then putting 31's up under it. I expect less mpg than before -

Ok I got the tires. They look brand new. I have a few questions.. If I have a 2.5L with 4.11 gears, is it going to be able to push the 31's pretty good? And i was thinking about adding a pretty cheap lift (1"-2") I know the chevy drop shackles will add about 1.5" but I'm looking for an even 2" lift.. I already have the WJ lower control arms for the rubbing and I'm not planning on trimming the fenders at all. Just want to know what's out there for a lift around $100.. I know some companies have all these pucks and shackles for $300 when i go to a junkyard and get them for $50.. Thanks -
Hey guys. Getting started on my gas tank sending unit and I'm removing the skid plate while I can't get one cornor of the skid out. The corner facing diagonally to the passenger seat. It hooks on and is weird. It hits the e brake cable and when I try to push it it won't go far enough because it hits the driveshaft.. Do I need to remove the driveshaft?

Ok, It will just be used for my daily driver so I'm not goingto go offroading in it just yet. Would the chevydrop shackles be a good thing to do though just in case, or should I wait until I get them on before I do anything. -

Yeah I'm getting the 15's, not 16's. I looked on craigslist last night and saw someone selling 4 tires with 300 miles on them for $200, so I emailed him, and we are meeting tomorrow afternoon. I think they are General Ameritrac. I do have 1 WJ lower control, i thought 2 came with the order from rockauto, but I guess not  -

Ok even on sharp turns? -
I am thinking about getting some new/used tires and thinking about getting 265/75/15 and I'm pretty sure they are ~30"-31". My question is do I need to do anything? I know probably lower control arms from wj. I have the 2.5l and I will probably lose some power right? But will I need to do the 2" drop shackle and zj v8 coil spring lift? Thanks just want to know so I can save money.

2.5L 90 Comanche....Warped Valve cover!?!
87Chief replied to lexluthier72's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got my 2.5l valve cover from a 91YJ wrangler. It's aluminum and doesn't leak. Just had to re route some hoses and fittings for the ccv and vacuum but very cheap -
Really? I never knew that. How would you?

oops sorry. Sorry, I'm looking for one from a 2.5L so the rpm guage will be correct. Usually they read different if swapped from a dif size engine.

Did you happen to fill your fluid up on a slope? SOmetimes if you don't fill it on level ground it will either be too much fluid or too little.. Try bleeding your clutch too

Could you post a DIY on this? I would like to an aftermarket tach.

So I got my new speakers in and I got the siding off and everything. The old speakers have a plug on the back but my new speakers didn't come with one... Should I just cut and splice? Also on the back of the truck (interior) I have a carpet part and it came off pretty rough, it has little black metal pin-like things, do they just snap back on? One more thing, which is positive and which is ground coming from the MJ? brown positive? Thanks.
