Trucks smootj up to a certain speed, When it started vibrating the faster ya went the worse it gets . . . Until your Mirrors shake so much you can hardly see out of them, If you can get it up to the vibrating speed then put it in neutral it'll get violently worse ! ! ! If that's what you got I'd do some U-joints or you'll be like me layin in gravel far from home ;) Mike -

Nope its the same Shortbed, 2WD, AMC-150 I4 / AX-4 4spd / D35x3.73 truck that left the factory 23/24yrs and 201K-miles ago . . . tho its wearing a set of 235/75R15's ;) Tho i think a P-O might have swapped Metric/Big-Ton springs under it cause it holds a load Smart phones and long hot walks, Shoulda took them joint straps with me :fs1: Almost back :wall: Glad they stay open late  Mike -
It basically looks like a front bumper mounted to the rear . . . looks nice but i ma just and go chrome step on mine WHY ? ! ? Well, because i'd have to build a reciever hitch which will only lead me to towing things i shouldn't be ;) We'll see how it goes, I may be asking you about how to build or buying a set of mounts from you Mike

Yup both little tab deal's are intacted, Stop and got a pair of U-Joints they appear to be a touch bigger then the joint in the truck, I wonder if the current Joint is the wrong/cheapo one ? :???: ? They have 3 different stud/Strap Kits may just get some for the peace of mind of it  :wrench: The new Joint "Precision" #369 Fits the tie downs better . . . Now lets see if remember how to change them its been a long while :hmm: I'll report back with progress  . . . :ack: Mike -

Tires are balenced treads all look straight and true, My concern it the U-Joint moving in the yoke ? :???: ? I was wondering, should i replace the U-Joint currently i have the strap removed and it dosen't appear to be damaged  Should I reinstall the strap and keep running it ? or should remove the other strap and replace the joint ? Mike -
First it vibrated at 70mph, then went away at 65mph then started again after a while, then 60mph then 45mph. So U-Joint right ? ! ? ! ? Ok trans end joint seems tight no play, rear had some slop 1/4"- 3/8" of it :wrench: Then noticed the it wasn't slack in the joint but one joint cap was sliding back n forth in yoke :fs1: :wrench: Tried snugging down the bolts, To no avail it still moves around :fs1: So where do i go from here replace joint ? strap ? :hmm: yoke ? :( Mike

To answer your first question, yeah, Covering up chrome is a pretty stupid idea IMO. :fs1: But can't be helped. Now, as for the second question, If I recall correctly, I believe that SOMEONE on here had a picture of a stock chrome bumper... Although I don't remember who/what it looked like, although I believe it looked like this.... Circled parts remained "Gunmetal" colored, while the side indented tubing (arrowed sections) were chrome. Again, not 100% if this is what it looked like, but there are aftermarket chrome bumpers made for the MJ. I don't know if they're a 100% fit though. :hmm: So to keep this paint theme i would have to keep my black trim from this unit ? :hmm: Are they close enough only an MJer would notice ;) . . . Anybody got photo of these "fey" units ? :???: ? Mike -

-
:wrench: Nice project looking forward to it :wrench:  I can relate, My MJ was a cheapie and its been a great truck, My FSJ is a big pile of parts that costs money to ge and I'll have a ton more invested before I get to find out weather it was worth while :fs1: Mike
-
Ah ok so chrome fronts no bigie, Chrome rear's well those are the challenge ;) Seems to be the theme with everything I do these days . . . I may to check into your XJ to MJ rear bumper conversion :wrench: Mike
-
It ain't gotta be OEM they could be off a toyota for all I care, I just don't want some D-looped winch bumper looking creature . . . I got a shortbed 2wd so I want "pretty" NOT "beastly" ;) Now is it just the Rear bumper that's a PITA to get or front too ? ! ? ! ? As I need a pair of them ;) Mike
-
 Just nice looking basic bumpers, lil'flat spot ball hitch type rear Ok window trim, So the black paint/coating can be removed with out damaging the stainless or doors ? ? ? Chrome grill mine got broke and was replaced with a black one :wall: Need a another chrome grill to match head light trim ;) Mike

:( yea I was kind of wondering that myself, Why Cover up Chrome :fs1: So removing the coating is going to have to be choice of "Pretty" v.s. "longevity" :ack: :( What about bumpers front & rear in chrome :dunno: Mike -
