  1. I’m have all my stuff to my spring over conversion. Is it really necessary to cut off the old spring perches. My neighbor has a Wrangler that a previous owner did a spring over. Left the old perches. Welded on new perches and shock mounts. The old perches do not hang down or were in the way from what I see . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Most important tip check out cruiser54 website especially if you have a Renix powered MJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I’m updating some of my wiring, I.e ground wires adding . Also going from maybe 8 gauge with a 12 gauge fuse link to 6 gauge and 10 gauge fuse link for my alternator output wire. I’m downloading a picture to show how crappy the wiring is. I have to definitely thank Cruiser54’s website ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. That is the vent hose. It is normally about 2ft or so long and goes up the left upper control arm and vents into the engine compartment. Just go to the parts store and get some 3/8 fuel hose Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Can you snap a couple of pictures. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Ok guys I was going to use the Rocky Road control arm drop brackets. Well waiting 2 months and was told they built only 7 sets in the last production run and I’m #10. Next run is in 2 months. I can’t wait that long. Any recommendations for a specific brand? I’ve looked at core 4x4 they look good. I looked at Rusty’s Offroad they don’t specifically have a Comanche upgrade a complete suspension kit which I don’t need . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Ok it’s been hit here in California. I’m boing the fuel in the fuel rail after any type of hot to really hot restarts. What are you all out there using to insulate the fuel rail. 88 Comanche Laredo 4.0 automatic 4x4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. What’s your website? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. That is the outside ambient temperature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. The cps is a very common failure part. Finding an OE is very hard to find. They are no longer made but some dealerships have them in inventory or someone has some nos stock. I would definitely start there. Also check your fuel pump output. They do get weak and have low pressure with age. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Took my cooling system apart. Found the thermostat stuck open about 1/8 inch. Coolant looked green but back flushing the block got rust coming out. I took and back flushed the radiator and got quite bit of black flake like rust out of the radiator. I bought the truck 2 years ago. The guy I bought it from rescued it after sitting 15 plus years. Put a radiator in it etc. I put a water pump in it last year. Back flushed it then. Years of sitting has created a bunch of rust that keeps loosing up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks for decoding the vin. I tried running through the Mopar vip. Because the modern vehicles use some of the same codes it showed I had a 3.6 v6 (wrong ) And other weird stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. That was the outside temp. The truck was at 190 at the bottom of the grade 220 at the top. I drove the truck to the hardware store this morning. It acted like the thermostat is now stock open. Never fully warmed up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. 88 Comanche Laredo. 4.0 automatic 4x4. 123800 miles. What’s left of brown over silver. Bucket seats console red hounds tooth interior. Mishmash of a 4.0 lift. Mishmash of body protection. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Some good info everyone has posted. My aux cooling fan is a 97 R134 fan I installed. I replaced the fan and fan clutch last year all at the same time. The previous owner did replace the radiator with a parts store single core radiator. My past experience with both MJ and XJ is they like 2 or 3 core radiators. Also I’ve found is that the Renix engine have boil issue’s in the rail when you run them hot. I found on my 89 MJ and 87 XJ they liked the the 2-3 core 91 and later radiator conversion. 16. 88 Comanche 4.0 automatic. So climbing our somewhat famous Cuesta grade 5 miles up to 7% grade Comanche got warm. Bottom of grade 70 degrees. Top of grade 100 degrees. Comanche hit 220 which is odd for my truck. Then came down and stayed 215. Got of hiway temp dropped running in town to about 200. Electric aux fan is pulling strong air, fan clutch engaged and pulling strong. Coolant bottle has plenty of coolant. No water in oil and vise versus. Everything is pointing towards Radiator time. I had similar issues on a 87 Cherokee. On my 87 Cherokee I installed a 91 and later radiator. Dumped the coolant bottle but can’t remember if I just bypassed the bottle or installed a 91 later heater valve. Note my electric aux fan comes on with a/c on and using a temp switch installed on the 91 later thermostat housing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. Does anyone who has either factory or aftermarket add on have the Freon label still under the hood. Kinda wondering what the factory fill is. Mine is converted from R12 to R134. I’ve put in about 1.25 lbs. seems to do ok. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. 88 Comanche 4 1/4 lift. Getting reading to do some upgrades.I’ve also decided to update the track bar too as it has an old Rustysoffroad that uses a tie rod end . Any suggestions? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. How do you like them? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Is anyone running the lower control arm drop brackets on a Comanche? I’ve run them on a Cherokee with good results. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Ok I’m buying back an 88 Comanche that I did a light build on . I’m wanting to do a little more this time. Has anyone done the Ruff stuff diy long arm kit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have a few of those Mopar performance catalogs laying around. Being I know someone who works at a dealership ship I’ve giving him part numbers from the catalog here and there. I’d say most of the older stuff is unavailable. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Most of the XJ stuff will bolt on if not all. The stock lower control arm brackets have an extra reinforcement which is a little harder to cut off than an XJ. The trans crossmember has extra inner bolts on the inside of the frame rails. I don’t think that will be a problem. The MJ is a spring under. The XJ is spring over. I believe the MJ springs are longer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. I’ve had several early XJ’s and 3 MJ’s. There are NO CARB legal cold air intake set up’s for 87 to 90 XJ or MJ. Both MJ and XJ have the hot air pipe going from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner box to heat air in cold weather climates. Also the top of the air cleaner housing has the vacuum thermal valve that control the hot air door. As per smog laws you can’t remove those items. Now I’ve made my own intake or used one for a 91. Smog time comes I installed the stock intake set up. Not a big deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
