  1. I'll try to get some tomorrow night. Turned out it was actually the amazon LEDs that were dimming and not the sylvania. But the Sylvania are a better looking and fitting LED so I went with them. With the red lights I don't feel I need dimming, now that I see them.
  2. Just tried the Sylvania 194R's in my instrument cluster. I like them! In order to make the high beam indicator less bright, I use a red led. I figured a red light behind a blue filter would be pretty dim, and it is. Gives a nice purple color.
  3. The man has spoken. I'm sure you'll have plenty of vacuum for the brake booster, and we don't have vacuum advanced timing.
  4. I didn't catch that there were two different noises.
  5. So you do, or do not want advice on the stage 1 cam? You understand more lift and duration means less vacuum? And that "stage 1" means different things for different brands of cam so its best to go by actual lift and duration? Some are not great for daily drivers.
  6. Just to be clear, you did previously state "As the engine warms up, the sound does get less noticeable". Guess that was in error.
  7. Thanks. I figured it could hurt to take a close look and it paid off.
  8. Oh right, of course, sorry. The post you quoted was referring to the headlight bezels.
  9. I had no idea that the HVAC panel has a light. This is my first pre-91 jeep and I just assumed that the HVAC panel was not lighted. I happened to see one for sale while browsing and noticed what looked like a light bulb mounted in it. That should make things a bit easier to adjust at night.
  10. Checked off tip #10 today. "Trans plug connector refreshing". Made sure to also check the connector under the dash and the fuse. Also did #29 "Improving the fuel pump ground". I did it slightly siferntly. Instead of exposing some copper on the existing ground wire and warping the new ground around it, I cut the original wire, twisted both cut ends together with the new wire and soldered them. After soldering I slathered it in oxgard and put a piece of heat shrink on it. Not sure if everyone knows this but if you cut a piece of heat shrink with diagonal cutters while it is hot, it will melt the end of the tube closed. I also soldered on the ring terminal insted of just crimping it. Also removed the fuel filter mount and cleaned between the mount and the frame with a wire brush, as well as the screw itself before oxgarding everything.
  11. The thing is I'm not optimistic that the used ones will be in very good shape after 34 years.
  12. I already bought a set or red leds off amazon, but I know from testing the white version of the same brand that they do not dim worth a ----. I might just shell out for these Sylvanias so that I can have red and dimming.
  13. That makes sense. But $100 - $350 is still a range of prices. That's all I was after.
  14. Are you talking about the Sylvania LED version of of the 194 incandescent bulb?
  15. I found this post by neohic, https://comancheclub.com/topic/64088-header-panel-trim/?tab=comments#comment-662810 He said they do not go for a lot but are difficult to find.
  16. Generally things have an average range of value, even if they are one of a kind items. Maybe someone who has purchased or sold them before will chime in. Sounds like they probably go for hundreds of dollars each if they are that rare. Maybe I won't go chrome.
  17. Was that the metal ring that goes around each headlight? Or the bezel? Headlamp Bezel I don't believe that the headlight bezels are in good enough condition for me to want to buy them off of this jeep. My nearest junk yard is 8 hours rounds trip. But I have to eat lunch regardless of what I'm doing so I wouldn't include that.
  18. I just don't have a clue what these parts are worth, especially the upper and lower header panel trim.
  19. Good to hear. I wasn't planning on buying a new header panel. Mine seems to be in good condition.
  20. I have a local guy with a 88 XJ with chrome grill ect. I think I'd prefer to buy a reproduction grill, headlight bezels, side marker bezels. Any opinions on this? What are fair prices for the chrome front bumper and upper and lower chrome header panel trim pieces? Sorry if this should have been in a different sub-forum.
  21. I feel that DOT must have allowed headlights to be brighter, thinking that better cut-offs protects other drivers.
