  1. After popping the hood the other day, I noticed a hose/tube that was loose and not plugged into anything. Can anyone identify this and tell me where it's supposed to go? I tried looking at some different diagrams and pictures but couldn't come up with an answer. It's coming into the engine bay on the passenger side next to the windshield washer fluid tank (you can see it on the far left) and right around the oil filter area. This is a '92, if it matters.
  2. What was your fuel gauge doing? Mine just shows empty all the time, no matter how full the tank is. It's next on the list for troubleshooting but I'm not sure where to start
  3. Is getting your tailgate stolen a concern? Never heard of that happening
  4. This looks great! Awesome job
  5. Nevermind - I figured it out. AC line was not allowing the filter to mount at the proper angle
  6. What is the date code correlation table? Do the last 6 digits of the VIN indicate the month and day it was manufactured?
  7. Awesome writeup! Gonna add to my ideas list
  8. Any resources for finding all the grease fittings?

    SWB bed mat

Looking for an OEM SWB bed mat shipped to OK
  10. Thankfully they seem to work pretty well right now!
  11. I don't mind spending money and would rather be safe than sorry, but obviously I don't want to be wasteful. If there's a legitimate reason something might need to be changed at 200k miles, I want to make sure it's done and done right. I figure with things like brakes I'll wait until I replace them once it gets warmer to do a full tune-up. I've driven it a bit already and they felt fine so I'm not too concerned with them. Any particular reason you'd wait on the coolant? Seems to be pretty straightforward and inexpensive to do.
  12. Sounds like a good list, I'll start looking into them. Thanks a lot!
  13. Last week I picked up a nice 92 MJ and it runs very well. Really happy with it and excited to start some rehab on it to make it even cleaner. That being said, since I don't know the PO I want to change out things like fluids and filters since I don't know when they were last replaced and I'd rather start with a clean slate Obviously going to be replacing the motor oil and filter (Rotella T6 Full Syn and NAPA Platinum 41515) and also going to grab a new air filter (NAPA Gold 6077). Apart from these, what other things would you replace? Looking forward to learning a lot from you guys and trying to contribute when I know more!
  14. I know I know! Just got back in town from NYE but I'll be added a gallery soon!
  15. Sorry, been out of town for NYE and just got back last night. I'll take a bunch of pictures and start planning out my restoration and make a thread for it!
  16. Well, I picked it up. Runs great and overall pretty decent condition. Definitely worth $3k. I appreciate everyone advice and help! Looking forward to wrenching on this for years to come
  17. Talked to the guy and we decided on $3k if it passes my inspection. Trying to get together tomorrow morning and test drive it. Now I just have to make room in the garage!
  18. Will do! I'll definitely report back what I find, thanks for the help!
  19. I'd convert to 4x4 at some point. I've been reading about it and heard it's pretty simple to pull it from an XJ and bolt it on
  20. I would spend the few $$ and check out the report before going to look at it. I actually found out that if you post an eBay motors ad with a VIN, it'll give you the report for free. So I posted one just to see the report and the 25 records were all re-registrations and one sale, all in Oklahoma. Seems pretty OK with me (no pun intended) so I'm going to go check it out later this week
  21. First off, thanks for all the great information and advice, guys! I'm feeling pretty good about this and am going to try and arrange a viewing for later this week. I saw he also has it listed on eBay and mentioned on there that the fuel gauge isn't working. After doing some Googling, it looks like this isn't that uncommon of a problem (possibly due to the gauge being electric instead of vacuum) and it may require a new sending unit. With this in mind, how would you guys approach the asking price? I was already thinking $3,500 would be a good compromise with prices I've seen around the country and the condition (at least as it appears in pictures; I'll obviously do a more thorough inspection in person) Thanks again for all the insight, you've all been very helpful!
  22. I am, small world! Can't imagine there's too many Okies on here
  23. Yeah this wouldn't be my DD and I've heard the 4.0 I6 is very well-built so I wasn't too concerned with the mileage. I'll see if he'll work with me on the price, maybe settle around $3,500
  24. I agree, was really looking for a manual but this seems possibly too good to pass up!
