Windshield Glass Replacement
kriswinner replied to kriswinner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's what I'm looking for. I was planning on removing the metal trim (permanently). Thanks for the quick replies! -
I'm going to have my windshield replaced by Safelite and move to the rubber trim. In an effort to minimize the confusion, am I best off reserving the glass and install as a 1998 Cherokee? For those that have had this done, should I remove the metal trim and clips beforehand or is this something a competent installer should just be able to handle? The prices *are* different between a 1988 Comanche and a 1998 Cherokee. (Cherokee is cheaper.)

Leaking fuel filter?
kriswinner replied to Classy Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry to dust off an old thread, but someone else might have this question as well. I've got a small fuel leak in the hose on the gas tank side of the fuel filter. I'm planning on replacing both sets of hoses, clamps, and the filter. @cruiser54 When you mention 5/16" and 3/8" high pressure fuel hose, I'm assuming that one end of the filter is one size, the other end is the other. Is this correct? Just want to make sure I purchase the correct stuff. -
That's a smart idea. I like the idea of being able to swap things out (or remove them all together).

@Airborne Janitor: Love the idea of this update/upgrade! Great work! One question: Now that you know this works (I understand this wasn't originally a guarantee), would it make sense to modify the MJ wiring (install the plug end from a "newer" XJ) instead of modifying the connector on the new wiper motor? If the wiper motor ever goes bad in the future, this would make the future swaps plug-n-play.

Thanks for the suggestions, Everyone! @Pete M Pelican boxes... wow...you weren't kidding.

It's a 1/3 fold. (last section by cab can't lift) Preferably it would be something that is easy to remove if I need the entire bed.
-
I have a tonneau cover on my MJ and I'd like to add some sort of storage container for tools and other miscellaneous things to the bed. Whatever I do would need to be beneath the tonneau. Suggestions?

Interior colors/paint

Good idea. I didn't realize there were so many possibilities. Based on the history of my truck, the panels should be all original from the factory. I think I know someone with an SEM color guide. I'll see if I can borrow it. For an 88 with original panels, it seems like I'm one of 2 SEM colors: Palomino or Santa Fe -

It wasn't mentioned specifically, but is 1988 Tan the same as 1987 Tan? From Minuit's "post from the future", it sounds like... Thanks! KW -
Alright... totally deserve that. Previous owner (or probably the previous previous owner) did some hokey things to secure the bedliner. I was lazily trying to avoid pulling it out of I didn't have to.
-
Just confirmed from previous owner... He did a 4WD swap and changed out the bench seat for bucket seats from a Cherokee. The work was very well done. I had no idea.
-
Thanks! That was what I was hoping for. Anyone have a picture of this?

I'm looking at adding some in-bed lighting to my Comanche. When I bought it, it already had a bedliner in it, so I don't know if there are already places to get wiring into the box area. Suggestions?
-
Much appreciated @eaglescout526 Looks like alot was done to it before I got it!
-
My apologies @Shharks I didn't see that you posted these. That cover looks awesome! I think I have something to add to the Christmas list! - KW

4.0L, 5sp manual, 4WD Current Location: Michigan Status: On the road (well...sitting in a garage) Just over 100k miles. Fairly pristine condition. Current owner: ME! Can anyone pull the RPO sheet?

Can you post pictures of this cover? I have the cover from Downey Products specifically designed for the Comanche. Love the way it looks, but it needs to be unsnapped whenever you need to access the inside of the bed. There's also a rear cross bar that needs to be removed at times. A folding cover that looks similar would be an improvement.

@70barracuda: Just for clarity, which ones did you purchase? https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/WSCH256P.html or https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/Q8496P-4DR.html ? Enlarging the hole on the retractor...just trimming the b-pillar trim? Glad you were able to find something that matched!

Downey is willing to customize the cover for those that have toolboxes. I considered it myself, but I find that I take the toolbox out far too many times to keep it in there permanently.

I picked up some Ford Ranger Flareside bed rails (late 90's). https://car-pictures.cars.com/images/?IMG=U8FRGEA7.JPG&HEIGHT=600 This should cover the sides. I have part of a bedliner on the tailgate. I still have to come up with something for the cab-side of the box. I'll post back once I've installed them.
