thanks ! they are the stock front coils from the MJ.I used 5 inch inside diameter pipe for coil buckets. arms are made from schedule 80 1.5 . i wanted to use bushings at one end and heims on the other, so i took a set of front lower control arms, hacked them in half, and welded them to the pipe. I figure this way when the bushings wear out I can just press in new jeep bushings. still need to make some adjustments and finish putting gussets on the arm mounts, but you get the idea.

snipped the front fenders, removed the bracing brackets, inner fenders, horn, and all that other non-essential junk lol. got the D30 back under it with a new set of coil buckets, control arm mounts, truss, and 4.5 inch lift springs

nothing wrong with a junkyard starter, i`ve had one on my XJ for 2 years now. most of the time jeep starters only suffer from a bad brush assembly. they are pretty easy to replace and i think around $25 new

disturbing the peace since 1968 :D :D :D wouldn`t hurt to have a tack weld from the tailpipe to the cherry bomb, they can heat up quite a bit and sometimes the pipe will loosen over time. nice truck !!

Stock MJ with Dana 44?
johnnybebad replied to M1A1TankerTom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
my 92 MJ had a D44 in it from factory, 3:07`s also.aparently they were an option, and if the metric ton package was ordered you also got heavier springs and sway bars. -
started on the floor................... lol, it`s not as bad as it looks   got my front rollcage mounts welded in, now i`m making floor pans.

got the D30 all stripped down and cleaned up yesterday after 2 hours of grinding off rusty brackets . I had another D30 for parts that was a freebie, as a guy had hit a concrete embankment with it and bent the passengers side axle tube. It had great spring perches on it , so I took my time and cut them off with a grinder, breaking the welds off at the tube. I needed to make lower control arm brackets also, and just happened to stumble upon a piece of scrap 3/16 box metal, which fit my control arms perfect !!! I measure my XJ axle and these mounts are set at 85 degrees, pointing inward, from the factory. I have welded on LCA mounts at 90 degrees before, and while it works, it is hard on bushings, not to mention a PITA to get the bolts lined up.

took the front end out today, thinking maybe it`s time for a better lift kit and some new brakes lol... going to weld new spring perches and lower control arm mounts in, then going to swap in my 4.5 Rough Country springs, spacers, and tube lower control arms, going to fab up a set of adjustable uppers with heims later on.

snagged a 4 link kit with misalignment spacers on ebay last night. I still need to buy the nuts to make my arms, but at $150 total at my door it seemed like a good deal. If they last one season they are worth it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-Link-K ... dZViewItem also got a set of Edelbrock IAS shocks from Ebay, $40 a pair. I got #3319 Dodge Ram for the front and went with #3400 chevy 1500 for the rear. They were the longest shocks available .

just turned 29 on the 8th.... still healing from a major case of Cellulitis that I have had since new years eve, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellulitis which had me in the hospital in and out for over 2 weeks, hooked to IV and in the most pain I`ve ever had. My left leg was 3 inches larger in diameter than my right. seperated left shoulder with little to no cartiledge, they now think I have arthritis in my lower back, been to a chiropractor since age 22, severed my thumb in half last fall requiring 8 stitches ( carpet knife) , chronicly sprained ankle and left thumb, had a gastric ulcer at age 15, 2 concussions from car accidents, numerous pulled ligaments and tendons in my hands from lobster fishing since age 19, plenty of burns and scars from mechanic work, and the list goes on lol

D35 in the rear of the 98 ?? Figured it would have been the 29 spline 8.25 instead . -
empty your gas tank !!
johnnybebad replied to johnnybebad's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
yep it would work that way also and probably with less hassle than unlocking the fuel rail. just be sure the exhaust is cool, the XJ pumps run 30-40 psi so if your hose happens to jump out of the can you don`t want fuel spraying everywhere -
made some progress yesterday. got the top of the frame finished, used 3/16 steel to do the top. welded in some 1/4 steel for rollcage mounts which also tie into the cab supports. and welded in my 1st crossmember which will act as a mounting point for my lower control arms,as well as a driveshaft loop , also tied into the cab. and the second crossmember will be the mounting point for my upper wishbone setup. going to brace it in against the 1st crossmember today, ran out of flux core wire lol : :)
