i want to be back with a MJ... aside from the "cult" aspect... they really are great little trucks.. don't miss it till its gone.. but I do have to say.. My dad loves having the MJ.. he finds himself driving it somedays rather than his Vovlo..

Havent been here in a while.. I moved from CT to Rochester, NY.. In the process I ended up "giving" my dad my MJ... borrowing S10's from work carry loads isnt working out.. I'm in the market for another MJ... So hello again.. and eyes and ears open!
  3. i have actually seen this done in an XJ.. I need to find the link.. so if it can be done in an XJ why not an MJ..
  4. Happy Birthday.... me too.. 27 on 4/25
  5. I blew my open 35 on my Yj with 31" tires.. They are meant for stock power, stock tires, and even then they are the weak link........ My Ba10 outlasted my 35
  6. get everything out of your name and into your wifes, check your insurance policy, make sure you have a hitch and not the rear bumper mount... then go for it! I would flat tow before anything else.. trailer weight plus MJ.. i don't think so... I flat towed my YJ with my MJ with the stock rear bumper.. only about 10 miles to a shop.. the brakes were ok, but it was a bit scary
  7. I have about (5) 4.0L flywheels... $50-$60 shipped.. there heavy as you know.
  8. 4.0L won't swap into it without major rad and firewall mods... from what i understand, thought of that.. IMHO.. time for a new XJ... BTW....... its not mine.. researching for a friend.
  9. I know its an XJ, but i know this has been talked about here a lot.. What option is there for a tranny with the 2.8L? Is an aw4 an option or no? what about a fulll 4.0L swap? or is this the year with the firewall issue?
  10. so your saving your MT's :brows: ;)
  11. if its not leaking from anywhere else but your RMS... you prob scored your crank.. nothing you can do there. your shouldnt need RTV for the RMS.. I have done many w/o a drop and in some cases it leaked after doing it with RTV. a good tight seal will work with nothing else on it. if you check with the dealer there is no option for a single or double lip seal anymore.. its just one part. Same at autozone, they say they have both in the computer, but only one style in stock.. Some RMS will just leak... something you might have to deal with. My current 4.2L block in my YJ has a prepetual small drip from the RMS.. I have had it done twice by a Jeep expert, once by the dealer and myself.. it still leaks a bit.. park on the street, park on grass, cardboard is your friend.. only thing not mentioned is the one peice oil pan gasket.. its a must!
  12. just like the french :USAflag:
  13. bolt in swap from an XJ.. YJ won't work unless you feel like welding new coil buckets.. go for it if parts are available.. its fairly simple.
  14. just google it.. youll get tons of hits...
  15. yea they are
  16. Ive stripped dozens of XJ's best way is... (on my soap box) 1.start in the engine compartment.. remove all the crap (air box, evap cansiter, washer fluid bottle, coolant etc) 2.Take the rad and support off, drain collant and engine oil 3.cut the front crossmember out 4.Carefully take the harness off the engine (starter, alt, tranny, pcm) 5.removed tranny shifter/linkage and Tcase linkage (don't forget int. handles/shifters) 6.Driveshafts 7.Cut away or unbolt the exhaust 8.Support the rear of the Tcase with a floor jack and removed the main crossmember, but remember to unbolt the tranny mount from the crossmember. 9.Hook the engine up and yank the whole damn thing out engine/tranny/tcase all in one shot. I just dit this today.. stripped the 89 I am parting.. took about 4 hrs to get the drivetrain out.. but the more you do this the quicker it goes. Good luck.. ohh little tip... the oil filter blocks the passenger side motor mount bolt. Unscrew the filter, loosen the filter adapter and rotate it 90 deg. then you can tap the bolt out. put it back before you lift the engnine.
  17. it will bolt to it.. but you might (small chance) need to change the imput shaft.. @160K i would check to see if the chain is tight
  18. if your battery dies you can always pop the clutch and get home...... another vote for the 5spd!
  19. there was a thread that i can't find anymore about changing the OD numbers when switched guages? any hlep
  20. The intake manifolds are the same from the 258 and 4.0L.. in some cases you might have to grind down one of the allignment stubs to make it fit with the exhaust manifold. The exhaust ports are different.. you would need an exhaust manifold for that year... the intake will work.
  21. Just bought a used one (angled) for $50 off craigs list.. hey its the holiday season.. ask and ye shal recieve
  22. usually oil on the clutch plate and the clutch going bad...
  23. I like that one too.. whats that one made from?
  24. parts list.. did you make the handle or buy it somewhere?
  25. any more info on that second one?
