  1. anybody have any plans for a in bed tire carrier.. I am looking for one for both my YJ and MJ.. so I would like it compact..
  2. new bosch starter... everything fine and dandy.. who wants the core?
  3. Ebay.. I got two on there now
  4. yeah.. the auto ones will work also.. or you can buy mine... $250 shipped. :brows:
  5. good idea!!
  6. Ive been dealing with this problem for a bit.. when I go to start my MJ there is a horible sound comming from the starter. At first I thought it was the gears getting all chewed up, but the battery just died and i went to crank it over and while it was cranking slowly (not enought to turn over) there was no noise or clashing.. al least one full engine turn. So i decided that the noise I am hearing is something electrical? can anybody confirm this or not? Is there anywhere to look other than the starter?
  7. there is no weight in the rear of an MJ... of course the tires will spin... try putting an engine or a full load of wood in your bed and driving down the road. The 2.5 is a great motor for daily driving and hauling every now and then, but it by no means a power house. The one real benefit for me is that mine is getting 27 MPG.. I don't know how and I don't care, but i rearly fill it up... ohh and the plugs/tune up hasent been changed since Clinton was in office ;)
  8. let CW chime in... hes an expert at this.
  9. I have always carried a smaller width spare... for example.. on my YJ I run 33x12.5. on 15x8 but my spare is only a 33x9.50 on a 7 in rim.. It saves weight, and not to mention space in a YJ.. I guess with an MJ its not such a big issue, but just food for thought..
  10. it should work... depends on options like AC and ABS and other stupid stuff you might have extra wires... if its the same engine and acc. then it should swap over the same.
  11. when I get a chance I will take a pic of my floor... it kinda puts all you to shame... I think its to the point where the frame might be toast... stay tuned.
  12. ahh i did see thoes.. so its the two of thoes and the one in the back? they looked like a E10.. figured it was something stupid like that.
  13. I took a peek at my starter yesterday... let me just say I have pulled countless starters.. and I couldnt even see where the bolts were... Chiltons was no help, any direction? I did find the upper one facing the front, but no others.
  14. i just bought a 14.99 harness from crutchfield... thing was cake.
  15. Had my MJ for about 6 months with no tunes. Finally put in an old CD player and bought 2 new door speakers....NICE! this mod amazingly fixed my exhaust leak :brows:
  16. well i hope your wrong... I don't feel like dropping the tranny :hateputers: but it kinda makes sence... ill yank the starter tonight and see whats going on.
  17. well after further investigetion... when I depress the clucth all the way it doesnt grind.. only when i don't floor it or donet puch it at all... I havent pulled it yet.. was too busy parting out an XJ I have.
  18. When I start the MJ I somtime hear a grinding.. it does start and will turn over.. other times it doesnt make a sound.. I havent pulled the starter yet to check the ring/starter gear.. but what do you all think..? Starter might need to be shimmed or are one of the gears chewed up?
  19. I didnt mention that I had to work in NYC this weekend and would have to leave the YJ on the street topless.. thats my real only big concern... I got the top from an old friend out on long island... but your right 60 is perfect
  20. yeah, i think this is whats going to have to be done... I threw a tape measure across my jeep and manche, the top might fit that way.. well see saturday.
  21. well its going to have to.. b/c I'm not driving my jeep down with no top BRRR.
  22. I may have found a hardtop for my YJ.. Its a bit cold to drive down and pick it up with my YJ, so I was thinking of taking the MJ.. I havent taken any measurments yet, but has anybody transported a Hardtop in their MJ? How did you load it and did it fit?..
  23. if you call that a mess, then mine would be chernobal (sp)
  24. the 231 is the better of all thoes cases... you have the 207... nothing wrong with that, especially behind a 4cy. As for the Transmisisons.. yes you can swap them, I have thought of this actually since I have a 4spd, but wouldnt mind the overdrive, but I already get 27mpg with the 4spd and this sint my DD so why put all the effort in.
  25. thats a cool idea.. "paper mache" my floor instead of using steel. I LIKE! My entire driver side floor was ripped out due to rust... I took an old side of SS from a oven and banged and snipped it till it fit, but the seams are leaking air and some moisture.. this seems like a great way to seal it up quick.
