Thanks "Dude" I wanted something a bit different and don't care for the headrest taking up the rear window.

So here is where we are from the beginning to today.

Image Not Found Bucket Seats are in.... a bit more work than expected, but they turned out really nice.
-
Will be installing a set of these tomorrow, these were removed from a 79 El Camino. Not the original sets from the Camino, but they were recently recovered and are in excellent shape. Big plus is they fold forward, this will take a bit of work to build the brackets and narrow the sliders on these.

18" JK Sahara Take-Off Wheels
CGCWO replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thought about this for my MJ also, my opinion after much deliberation I chose to go with the older Canyons. The new wheels do look very nice and the Sahara's are the best. May have to source a set for our JK in the future. -
After market bucket seats and adaptor frames
CGCWO replied to drtrain's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not exactly aftermarket, but I am currently adapting a set of re-furbished/newly recovered seats from a 79 El Camino to fit into my 89 Comanche. First major hurdle is to narrow the stock sliders on these to fit with-in the door to trans hump area. then adapt the original MJ bench floor mount brackets to the new seats. I hope to complete the project this weekend and post up some pics in my build thread. "89 MJ Slow Build" -
Finally got around to putting on the new tie rod ends, re-mounting the aftermarket AM/FM/CD player and found one of the problems with the vent controls. Seems the last time I had the radio out and put it back in I pushed it against the electrical connection on the back of the controller and unplugged it. Sorry no pic's. New ball joints will be in the near future.

curiousity killing my trans
CGCWO replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No guarantee, but it sounds like clutch starting to go. Does it do this in 5th at high rpm? Normally when a clutch starts slipping and going out it will begin with the highest gears first. My sons Subaru did this, not real noticeable in 5th, then started in 4th occasionally. Then over a week or so it pretty much went. -
Looking for the standard AC/Vent/Heater control unit for the dash.Mounting points on mine are broken.

Catching up on photos of the build as of now. Still have a few things to do, new tie-rod ends and clean up the under carriage along with some new undercoating. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found

Found a bargain at Orileys on a Herculiner 1 gallon kit. I know it doesn't get the best reviews but for $55 it was worth a try and the fact that I already had the bed prepped for painting made it a no brainer to try.

Bed-liner done and daylight pics..... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Paint is single stage Gun-metal gray metallic, trim and rockers semi-gloss, Herculiner Roll on bed-liner, 3inch Rustys front coils no lift in the rear that I know of. It sets about a 1/2inch high in front now I am sure it will settle and be just about right.

Finally Painted, not perfect but much better than the gray primer. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Will get better picks when the sun comes out tomorrow.

Looking good! I have a couple of questions for you regarding your 3" lift. I have 1.75" coil spacers now and I am planning on going to 2" lift coils with spacers or 3"coils without spacers. Did you have to use longer shackles or an AAL to get keep it pretty close to level? I really do not like the rake I had before the spacers and would like a little more level than it is now with them. I am only running 30 x 9.50s, but may go to 31 or 33 x 10.50s in the future. I prefer the taller skinny tire for looks and the fact I will be using it for mostly DD and occasional trips to the local lawn & garden. I don't need to convert to 4x4 and don't want to go any higher that 3" since ift may also see limited use for hauling my other toy (faired and bagged 2010 Vulcan 900 Custom).

Has anyone tried a set of JK Front Coils on a MJ?
CGCWO replied to CGCWO's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So finally got around to putting the JK coils on the MJ. The results are....Drum Roll...... .25 inches of lift, so definitely not worth the trouble. Now time to source a 3" lift front and rear. -
Yes vinyl floor under mats, IIRC vinyl came from RockAuto (I don't recall the vendor that supplied it) fit was pretty good. Laid it out on the drive for half a day in the sun, then put it in. There was some trimming to get a real good fit, mostly along the door jambs and back cab wall. The JK mats were a un-expected score from a co-worker who didn't like them in their JK. The JK mats are Weathertech. I do have a set of cloth mats (also from a JK, our other Jeep) under the hard plastic mats to help keep them from sliding around. Amazingly the JK mats are almost an exact fit in the MJ. I would love to get a AX15 with external slave just haven't seen one locally yet.

So not a lot to report, life got in the way. Been waiting on the weather to warm up and get right for painting. Good news is that I have rolled up about 3500 miles on the MJ since November. Pretty much daily driver all winter (yeah for North Florida winter). Recently replaced the clutch Master cylinder, worked really well for about a week. Now having same issues before Master cylinder replacement. Clutch pedal engages either very low or not at all, sometimes it can be pumped and regain pressure. Thinking that it may be the internal slave. Not looking forward to pulling the tranny to get to that.

Clutch Pedal Pressure comes and goes
CGCWO replied to CGCWO's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep, more and more thought and I believe it could be the additional pressure from the new master cylinder could be collapsing the diaphragm in the slave. Going to try and bleed the entire system again then see what happen. -
So I replaced a leaky clutch master cylinder, bled what seemed to be all the air out. Kept going until nothing but clean fluid came from bleeder. Now the pedal will occasionally go to floor with almost no resistance. Checked the reservoir for bubbles, none detectable. No loss of fluid in reservoir since replacing the master cylinder. So I am thinking it has to be air still in the system, what do you guys think?

118K and counting on the one in my 89. Picked it up with 115K, changed oil, added a good helping of Sea Foam to oil and gas tanks, fixed a couple of small leaks and it is purring right along. Pretty much a daily driver now, oh and yes the gas mileage is great for a engine that old in a truck. Had a 2.8 S10 years ago and this 2.5 would run circles around it. No the S15 i had with a 350 swap is another story... :)

Just had the same symptoms this week. Re-placed the Master Cylinder on firewall, still didn't have great pressure. Recruited my sons help, bled all the old fluid and air out of the system and it feels much better.
