The undersized plug you put it prolly isn't leaking because your motor is full of air instead of COOLANT like it needs. You can't just pour water/coolant into a renix 4.0 and expect the air to burp like a normal car. The best way to do it is jack rear end as high as possible, engine off, remove temp sender, fill bottle till a steady stream pours out of head. Re-install temp sender fill bottle to proper mark and then start motor..

What about going to a salvage yard and cutting a roof off a MJ there?

Need advice on an idle issue
kyleag89 replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am going to check my TPS but the part about cleaning the connector doesn't apply to me because my MJ is an 89. -
First off its an 89 4.0 BA10 So on a cold 25-35 degree morning the MJ fires right up but will idle at about 200RPM just barley enough to keep her running. When it is colder than 25 I need to give it a little gas to keep it running. After running for about 2 mins the idle slowly gets up to where it should be(about 700-800RPM). Then when the motor is hot 190-210 it idles at 1,000RPM all the time. The IAC is 1 year old and I recently just cleaned the TB and removed the IAC and cleaned the hole where it seats. IAC still looked new, and very clean. Could I possibly have a bad IAC already or could the TPS be the issue? Thanks in response! Forgot to mention I never touched the TPS so the adjustment is the same it has always been since 2007 when the truck was purchased.

I had a similar problem in PA with two Jeeps! They mis-spelled my last name on my REG and title...TWICE! If I wanted to correct it I would have to fill out a form and send in for a new title and registration and a whole bunch of other non sense. All that PITA paperwork for a mistake some idiot made in Harrisburg DMV headquarters! On top of that I'm sure I would have to pay too.

I understand how people can like the idea of having an electric car... but did they have to make them so FUGLY? :rotfl2:

:agree: Grab a set of axles off a newer XJ auto for the 3.55 gearing and to ditch the CAD axle. I have the 3.07 gears in my MJ and hate them.
-
Ok cool.. If I don't have the wires already maybe I will install them into my XJ instead..
-
I picked up a set of factory XJ limited tweeters and brackets from the junk yard awhile ago. I was wondering if I can just plug the tweeters into the wire under the dash and they will work, if there even is a wire?? Ive read on JF that a few guys already had the wires under the dash for the tweeters and they worked when plugged in.

getting donor doors tomorrow, need advice
kyleag89 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had those butterfly windows on my 93XJ which was the last year they made them I think because neither of my 94s had them. I loved them and didn't have a problem with them, however all the windows I have seen at the junk yard have been rusted/rotted. -
I just swapped my clutch in my 89 with the pukegoat trans. It had a Sachs that was 3rs old and the springs on the clutch disc were rattling like someone dropped a can of bolts in my bell housing! I installed a kit from Advance that cost $180 and I think went by the brand Tech Novation. Install went smooth, slave bled perfectly and it drives awesome so far with no problems. My uncle and I swapped it in my tiny townhouse garage in about 5 hours.

Better get a move on investigating yourself! I HIGHLY doubt the useless pigs will do anything for you!

Few "new bed" questons
kyleag89 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Depends on how much $$ you want to spend. Either por 15, rust bullet, or just some undercoating(roll or spray). IMHO spraying will be easier My truck has POR 15 on it, but I don't think that its as good as everyone says it is. -
Those ones you found on Ebay look really nice. It comes with a factory switch and looks to be decent wiring. Almost every light kit Ive seen comes with a junk wiring harness, which leaves me to make my own.

Reese 37042 hitch to fit Comanche?
kyleag89 replied to phenryiv1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I went through the same search process as you when I installed mine. It was almost impossible to find good info on the hitch. I got mine to work after seeing a couple pics of a CC members but I can't remember who. I installed mine by using the brackets it came with and set them up like I was bolting it to a XJ. Then I drilled three holes on each side through the flat C channel looking bumper brackets and mounted the hitch. It worked out great and is VERY solid but it does hang down more than I like. I don't wheel so the clearance doesn't bother me. I can take a few pics for you if you want. Here is a pic I already had on my PC you can kinda see the hitch sticking out. -
:agree: Sounds like he didn't do it right the first time.

You have to use one of those foam rollers not a normal one you use to paint your walls. I thought the same thing when I heard about rolling a car but it actually came out decent. I would still prefer to spray it but if that isn't an option then rolling it will work.
-
If its going up for sale soon then why are you trying to level it out?? :dunce:

Def. has an AAL in the rear which prolly gave you 2.5" because I just did it to my 94 and thats what I got. The front isn't a 2" spacer looks more like a 1" but its hard to tell because your not holding the tape in the correct position. The coil springs don't look factor. I would just swap out the front with some 3" lift coils and be done with it.
-
If your using spray paint I would go with a light color to hide the un-even spray that a can gives you. I have been looking into using the dupli-color automotive paint sold by the gallon for $35. It is either sprayed or can be rolled and actually comes out really well. It is an enamel paint so it gives you a hard thick kind of semi-gloss look. I found a guy in Georgia that painted his 70 Charger with it and it looked like a nice professional job and he said it is hard to scratch so it will stand up to a beating on the trails.

Good luck having the cops help you with anything! I had over $1500 worth of stuff stolen from me and I even knew who it was. The police didn't do a thing about it! I HATE police only there to hurt me rather than help..Thanks a lot guys!

SNOW??? Why would anyone want snow and cold weather!? I love this 50-60 degree temps were having in MD. My garage isn't big enough to pull my Jeeps all the way in, so I have been working outside because its sooo nice.

The fuel pumps in the MJs always make a humming sound. If your gas tank has ever been replaced then it will be louder. The newer replacement tanks are a thinner gauge metal than factory making the fuel pump noise louder.
-
Sounds like a 1.75" spacer up front with stock coils. The rear most likely has an AAL and/or a block. A couple pictures of the rear end will help us out. Make sure you take a pic of underneath from the back so I can see the leaves/axle.
