We buy Kenda's for the used cars because they are inexpensive.

I would recommend it. I was there today with the North Jersey Jeep Club. The park vehicle is a Comanche on 33x12.50x15's. This is my Jeep.

Is that a big or small block 727?

I had a noise from my 231 tc after wheeling. It was banging pretty good. My first thought was the old J8134488 transfer case output shaft snap ring. It was broken, I replaced it and thought it was ok. Still banging and it was pretty bad. I pulled the tc in my driveway, knocked it apart and it was toast. I have never seen an oil pump that was stripped, and shafts had bent teeth, it was done. I pulled a 231 from my 90 XJ, and rather than just put it in there, I had to see what it looked like inside since the Jeep had about 210K on the clock. It was good to go. All the shift fork pads were good and it was super clean inside. I put it back together and I hope to have the Jeep back on the road this weekend. Good luck with yours.

Renix intake and exhaust manifold removal...how to?
partsmj replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have done this. On a Cherokee. It was a major project. Lucky for me, it was a Jeep to replace another Jeep, so time was not an issue. I need to do this again on my Comanche. I am not looking forward to doing it. Good luck with yours. -
Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
partsmj replied to UNL1MTD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have had a few renix 4.0's. First thing I do is change the valve cover gasket. And replace all the crankcase vents. 88-90 53004868 53004838 4762592 1987 53004378 53004379 4762592 and the oil cap 33001016 Then I start chasing down all the other leaks. After a day wheeling, when everything is covered in some mud, and after it dries, it makes looking for the rest of the leaks easier imho. Working at the dealer, anyone who says "I have a Comanche" gets the wholesale price, 20% off list. I don't see too many Comanches anymore. That is kind of good for me, because I always ask if it is for sale. Comanches rule. -
With a deal like that, no wonder why I can't unload this stuff. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4359

Front engine oil leak. Where?
partsmj replied to ChiefJosh's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How about the front crankshaft seal? I have changed a couple of those. -
I went wheeling on green and blues at Rausch Creek and tore up my step bumper, and I got a little too close to some trees. I will be breaking out the sawzall for what is left. Photos to follow.

Help with a couple of questions
partsmj replied to johngus's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
what are you doing with that ba10? -
If you remove it from the trans, it has four different ways to put it back in, depending on the size of the gear. You should notice it is offset. It usually takes me a couple of tries to get it right.

friend's Jeep.. he has been using it since 87. it has a BA-10 trans.
-
it has a 95 4.0. the original trans and axles. it was repainted and the decals were not replaced.
-

I took my Comanche to Rausch Creek on Sunday. I wheeled it stock. I had my commuter tires, the 235/75R15's on it. It has the factory skid plate package and was originally sold at Jimmie Vickers Jeep in Merritt Island FL. Here is a couple of photos.

I did the google and found this on the internets. http://www.rocky-road.com/comanche.html Is anyone familiar with this kit? It sounds easy to do, and the price seems reasonable.
