  1. got them split the other day, everything looks good. things I can think of that i'll need so far: intake/exhaust gasket, prob going to replace radiator hoses. we will see the damage when I start swapping stuff over.
  2. picked up this combo today. engine swap will happen as soon as I can swing it, and the 2wd AX15 will be headed to storage for a future project idea.
  3. Just picked it up today. We will see what is good and what isn't.. i'm sure i'll need some guidance, but that is what all you nice folks are good at.
  4. ah, one think I overlooked mentioning is that the 95 engine happens to have a 4.2 crank. also it has a 1994 H.O head which I didn't notice before. how would that change things?
  5. I don't want this to take forever as this is my daily driver. I would like to have all the kinks ironed out and ready to go together in a few days at the longest.
  6. Exhaust, yes, intake.. not completely. I know it's been an issue for people swapping HO manifolds onto Renix heads. It will still work, though. May not even be noticeable. Yes, the dizzy must stay with the electrical system. Which generation transmission did you swap in? I don't know if there's a factory pilot bearing to use an older transmission behind a newer 4.0, like there is for a newer trans behind an older 4.0. I have an AX15 from a 1990 XJ, It was the same pilot bearing that came out when i swapped over from the pukey. I have brown dog offroad motor mounts.
  7. the knock sensor was on the list of concerns. So I can just pop the whole 95 setup in minus the intake/exhaust manifolds and flywheel and such. the distributor will work also? much thanks for the replies.
  8. most people who offroad or sit in traffic have done a hood vent mod, keeps the temps down in a friendly zone. I have a set off a Firebird waiting to go into my hood. here are some examples of what some other people have done I would go for it, adds to the looks, and lose some heat.
  9. it should have a schrader valve at the rail for testing fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge, iirc it should be somewhere in the 40 lbs ballpark.
  10. I am hopefully getting a 95 engine to replace my clapped out 88 renix 4.0l My question is: how similar are the blocks? I know the heads are different, but I plan on swapping in a renix head to the 95 block. any other opinions on this? what sorts of mods would be required to run a 95 head with a renix comanche?
  11. is it getting spark and fuel?
  12. according to the link they are 979000 RUR. which is 29,914 USD at current exchange rate.
  13. here is the VIN# off the ad: 1992 Jeep Comanche VIN #:1J7FT36S8NL168841
  14. have not gotten to the bedlining or hood vents, but I did get in some LED's for reverse lights. torched out some holes in the bumper and tapped the wiring into the existing, works excellent. lights were $36 bucks, Great mod imo.
  15. the Comanche Registry is similar, a spot for people to record their year and vin and a brief history.
  16. a guide to jeep wheels: http://colorado4wheel.com/images/jeepwh ... heels.html I love the turbines, have yet to be successful in finding some around here to purchase.
  17. have you tried feathering the clutch in the no-catch zone while trying to pick up a gear? I know on some of the tractors on our farm you have to do this to coax them into gear.
  18. hate to sound like a broken record, but I am still on the hunt, a few got away, called and they were sold already. will be going up to Maine and Rhode island later in the month.
  19. is the amount of transmission fluid up to spec? My friends truck did this and he was several quarts low.
  20. I don't think any place makes them. there are several from members that have made their own. off the top of my head reason46:
  21. that is what I did with mine. They are the same size.
  22. cleaned up nice, should be mounted up next week.
  23. went to the junkyard yesterday, was a good 100F. saw some hood vents that looked alright, grabbed them. they are off a pontiac firebird gta. Cleaning them up today, might go on tomorrow or next week. I am trying to line up some things to do next week as I will be out in the sticks watching someones animals while they are away. thinking I will finally do my bedliner. was thinking about doing my lift, but I won't have wheels to make a parts run if things don't go right. Going to do a few electrical things probably. Going to bring up the moped and see if I can get that together also. Hood Vents: Not sure about placement yet. They aren't square either. I'm thinking something like the following picture, any other suggestions?
  24. let us know how many inches the shackles lift the back.
  25. are both SWB and LWB springs the same length?
