  1. Here's a writeup a guy did about converting to am external slave. http://www.bc4x4.com/faqs/yj.cfm?cat=6&faqid=98 Quadratec sells what looks like a metal one for a reasonable price... Scratch that... you want the one in the picture link. http://www.quadratec.com/jeep-replacement-parts/jeep-clutch/yj-clutch.php Ron
  2. http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/3151165959.html and this http://spokane.craigslist.org/pts/3131963588.html Anyone that's interested might want to do a Cherokee search for Spokane. I though someone would be interested. Ron
  3. I suspected that the cluster should be from the 90, but I've not gotten any confirmation on it. I know ECM is OBD, so I wasn't sure about the gauge cluster. The donor is long gone, and was the type that only had dummy lights. I have a line on a cluster not too far from here. I may just go get it.
  4. Gauges are from the 86. The wiring harness is completely from the 1990. Went through hell making sure the connections from the two halves of the bulkhead connector matched. View here: http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36244 I'm of the mind that maybe the cluster has blown it's top. Ron
  5. Okay, so I transplanted a '90 XJ EFI 4.0L into my '86 MJ, and the instrument cluster doesn't work. So, I replaced the senders for the temp gauge, and the oil pressure gauge, and they now work. What about the voltmeter, the tachometer, and the fuel gauge? Are there senders in the alternator, and for the tachometer? What are the chances the instrument cluster has gone bad? Any of you gurus have an idea about this?
  6. Well... here they are! Easy enough to put in, and they seem to have made a difference. It's been a long time since I put these in my Oldsmobile. Note to anyone who does this: be sure to use the largest drill you have (3/8", or so) and drill out all of the corners. I didn't on the last one, and have a small opening at one of the corners. Whoops! Ron
  7. The best junk yard EFI fuel pump money can buy would be from a 1997-2000 ford explorer - it's a puller/pusher style: pulls from the tank, then pushes to the engine with up to 33psi or something like that.
  8. Just saw a bench seat in an MJ on Tuesday... Check out these guys: http://www.montanaoverland.com. Chad and George run the place, really nice fellers. They ship all over the world; had a shipment going to New Zealand when I was there.
  9. What about this one: 5. XJ '97+ doors onto older cherokees = one piece windows and better mirrors? The one thing I hate about the MJ are the side mirrors. Will this work on our MJ's?
  10. Found the front axle you need... http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/ptd/3147324463.html
  11. That book was awesome! Got it all figured out. Just to let you gentlemen know: the bulkhead connector of the XJ and the MJ are nearly identical give or take the rear window wiper/washer thingy. and one or two others. The only thing that I think is wrong is that I have to replace the instrument cluster of the V6 with the one from the EFI I6 Cherokee. If any of you fellas happen to have a spare I'm in the market for it. Ron
  12. I'm glad that I'm not crazy about the heat generated under the hood. A lot of good ideas out there, thanks fellas. I'm gonna install the ones from the k-car then, and see if that can help it a bit.
  13. Replace torx bolts wherever possible with something a little saner (I have ruined more torx wrenches and bolts than I care to remember).
  14. I guess you can't really see them well above. They're not for sale, you can have them for the shipping cost. Here's the pair I'm attempting to give away. They're gray in color, and one has a little damage to it, but not much.
