  1. Hey Man. Don't give up bro. I'm in Hunt Valley. Been looking for an MJ for almost a year. I got an XJ, because I couldn't find an MJ I liked. The XJ ended up being a $1200 mistake. I paid DEARLY for being impatient and getting excited. Sold the XJ, stacked cash, and the MJ i found a few weeks ago just fell into my lap. Keep your eyes peeled, your wallet CLOSED, and your hopes DOWN. There are lots of MJ's out there, and when the right one hits, you'll get it. No worries bro. EDIT: FAIL for not reading page 2!!!! LOL Congrats man! Meant to be! Maybe we can have an MD Manche Meet.
  2. That's cool. I actually got the truck just north of Richmond in Doswell. The tailgate was in a Crazy Rays in Mt. Airy, MD.
  3. ha, yeah! I figure it's at least old enough to have gone on my '86! I think I'm going to plastidip the tailgate. Not sure I can bring myself to paint over this piece of history!
  4. $40 at the local pick and pull. The tailgate is kinda dented, but it fits and works! Check out the dealer tag.
  5. So i tore the column down. In the process, the shroud broke. All for some tiny part called a "sector"? http://www.ebay.com/itm/311269840329?item=311269840329&viewitem=&vxp=mtr I'm completely, and utterly fed up and I've owned the jeep for a week. I want to set it on fire. Now I can't find a replacement shroud, only way to get it fixed looks to be a complete replacement column. Great.

    MD guys

Hey all, Hunt Valley, MD here. Northern Baltimore county.
  7. Beautiful and clean man! Keep it up!
  8. Got it. Thanks for the help! saved me from buying something I can't use. If I had the tools, i'd modify it to fit, but I don't just yet. Thanks again.
  9. Hey all, trying to figure out if a bumper I found on craigslist will fit the MJ. It's a rear bumper for an XJ, pic below. will it fit my MJ?
  10. went to the hardware store and turns out I had the thread pitch wrong..... got it to work. The stock bolts are discontinued, you can;t get them anymore. Let this be a lesson, do what you must to keep from stripping those bolts! Edit: from up above, it's the caliper bracket to knuckle. You're right, M12X35, 1.25 pitch. I had a 1.30 for some reason. must have grabbed the wrong one out of the drawer. Sat under the truck like a dummy trying to thread it.....
  11. tried that, the thread somehow didn't match.
  12. Rock auto does not have these bolts, not unless I'm blind. Also, that part number doesn't bring anything up. How complicated can this be? Nowhere has these things.
  13. Tried to replace my wheel hub on my 86 MJ today. The two 13MM bolts that hold the caliper to the knuckle stripped out. Had to use heat and a smaller socket. Nowhere carries these bolts, I call and ask for a caliper bolt, they call it a caliper guide pin? What is the name of this bolt? Even more importantly, where do i get a pair? Thanks!
  14. had a 4.0. That jeep refused to fail me. I sunk it in a lake, motor shut off and we got it to puke mud from the spark plug holes. 2 hours of drying and she fired up. Smoked a lot, but it ran! Good luck with your gas mileage, that Neon gets probably twice what you'll get. Still love the ZJ, I'd daily one.
  15. Going to go ahead and tear it all down this weekend. (or next week, snow coming) and get the part out to figure out what it is. was hoping I could have the new one waiting, but it's cool if it sits dead for a few days.... i guess... ha.
  16. More pics. Original cylinder with piece broken off in it. Piece The part I'm looking at that has the piece broken off of it. It broke off of the center of the chewed up looking part. This pic is the part number I need, i also need to figure out how to get to it!
  17. Hey, I just wanted to piggy back on this one. I used your write up to take my lock cylinder out, but the plastic piece the cylinder attaches to (the bowtie shaped hole in the pic) broke off. That was the original issue. Any idea what the part number is for that?
  18. Hey guys, so I had an issue where my key tumbler/cylinder was turning freely, no start, so I got a replacement one. I used this guide, it's AWESOME, took me 30 mins, no problem. http://comancheclub.com/topic/18991-ignition-lock-removal/ so when I pulled the key lock out, if you look at the pic, the bowtie shaped hole at the bottom had a bunch of broken-off plastic in it. Putting the new key lock in did not work (I knew this, as it wasn't clipping into anything) The part it's supposed to clip into is circular, with indents in it. I just reached a screwdriver in there, rotating it clockwise starter her right up! (The above thread was how to steal an MJ in 30 minutes!!) so my question: What's the part called that it attaches to? Does anyone know how the heck to get to it? Any info would be awesome, thanks!
  19. Hey guys, issue..... so it showed up today and won't start. The buzzer sounds when you put the key in the ignition, but the ignition doesn't want to turn, and when it does, it turns freely and nothing happens. I was able to bridge the starter and it tries to start. I'm 98% sure it's out of gas...(Thanks, PO) so is that why it wouldn't start? Is the ignition going to keep me from being able to jump it and move it into my driveway? It's sitting on the side of the road while i go get gas. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Possibly, how I can pull the ignition out and check connections? It feels like it's just not sending the signal.
  20. Sounds awesome man! What do you plan to do for performance? Def need some pics. I'm a "street jeep" guy myself, not my MJ, but still a Jeep!
  21. Got it, thanks for the info. I was trying to keep all of my NEWBIE questions in one, contained, newbie sandbox. Once I get rolling, I'll start a real project thread and ask questions in tech. I don't necessarily want to start a thread on something that's been covered.
  22. Ok, so I was told it "needs a wheel bearing". It definitely has a bit of a lean (haha) to the driver's front wheel. What am I looking at to replace this wheel bearing? I had a '94 ZJ with the D30 up front and I just popped a new wheel bearing into it. Is this the same?
  23. Interesting topic, just picked my MJ up and I'm thinking of a floor mat. The floors are just bedlined metal right now. i have big, clunky feet, so this talk of slipping, sticking, and pedal interference bothers me. Anyone have a report back on these "Jeep" ones? Where can i get some of the regular ones?
  24. Now my garage queen has a Comanche to tackle the bad weather for it. Maybe I need to get pics of them together. ha!
  25. You're right. I guess the "flowable" part is what I'm missing. I've found some of this "flowable windshield sealer" but it only comes in 1.5 OZ tubes. Ha the whole windshield needs it! Maybe that's why I wanted to try a big tube of caulk. I'll get a couple tubes of this flowable stuff and see if it'll stop the water. Thanks for the input on this.
