Final score: Homeowner doing his preps 1 Laughing Neighbors zero

Looks like a Scamp, or a Scamp knock off. Nice little campers, would be great behind an MJ.
-
I vote for Jim as coolest 'kid' on CC.

Lots of new 'islands' down south. :( Link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... ouses.html

WOW I'm paying ~$1k per year per car here, and THAT is too much. $5800 ought to include the car, and, um, highly skilled female accompaniment.

You can already buy an insurance policy to take care of your pets if/when you are Raptured. As long as Fido, Flopsey & Fluffy are OK, who cares about material belongings?

Lots of 401K's are being 'reinvested' in precious metals now (silver, gold & lead.)

It turns the stock (short) 4 link into a long radius arm setup, with all the good, and bad that goes along with that. The bad is mostly a binding issue, and a jacking issue when unloaded. The good is more travel, and much better ride than stock. For street/trail use, a true 4 link long arm would be better (IMHO), a long 3 link has even less binding issues that a long 4 link, but the security of the 4th link is a selling point for some. All have their places.

Anyone have any experiance cutting coils.
jpnjim replied to zagscrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I chopped down my Rubicon Express 4.5's a while back. They were giving me (IIRC) ~5.25", chopping them dropped me an inch to ~4.25" (again, IIRC). Cutting them meant I chopped off the flattened portion of the bottom of the coil, but the coil end still bolted in fine to the lower coil bucket clamp. As far as spring rate, cutting down coils does raise spring rate. But with these particular coils, if it did increase, my butt-o-meter sure couldn't detect it. -
Scored a Supplier For Jeep 2500 parts

x2. If you're serious about getting this started, post up your location, I'd bet there's some CC member's close by willing to lend a hand, and involving them might help to ease the minds of anyone cautious about sending $$$ to someone new. Either way, I'll be watching this thread, and good luck. -

Engine, tranny and axle ratios
jpnjim replied to 89Tonto's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
AMC/Jeep wasn't good at documenting what combo's got which gears for 1986 MJ's & XJ's (84-85 XJ documentation was only slightly better), but they spelled out the later years pretty well in factory literature: -
Wow, (by far) upstage the OP on the second reply. well done  ( :ack: to the content tho). to the guy for keeping such a cool head (and accepting responsibility). Surprised he didn't triage it himself, then finished riding for the day

Wow, guess the heat finally got to the wires. Not bad for 50 year old insulation. You must be a pretty good hand to find an oddball issue like that so fast. Either way, the MM sounds like the perfect "ice cream run" vehicle, as long as you don't mind answering 1000 questions at every stop.

4wheelparts, the physical store, is probably very good. Even though I like the couple of small, mom, and pop style 4x4 shops we have around here, a 4x4 'super store' could be fun to poke around in on a Saturday, and find some good deals without going online. But 4wheelparts the company is the JCWhitney of 4wd. They relabel cheap crap with their own branding, sell them at premium prices, while offering the true 'premium' products side by side at highly inflated prices. Look what transamerican autoparts (owners of 4wheelparts) did to Smittybuilt. Though it will likely be worse with RE, since RE has a much better/higher rated product to start with. I haven't seen anything taken over by 4wheelparts actually improve, and that includes messageboards (like JU). Better stop talking about them before they buy CC, and kick us off. ;)

The birth certificate issue should never have been as big an issue as it was. McCain was asked, and he produced it. Then our court system was put into play, and they made a decision. Done. Over. Next. Obama was asked, and he 'handled' the same situation in a completely different, DRAMA FILLED manner. When a cop pulls you over, he probably figures you do have a drivers license. It's only when you refuse to produce it that he starts to second guess you. As far as this newly released certificate being real, or fake, I'll leave that decision up to the individual. Anything could be faked, even by you, or I, nevermind by the President of The USA. So opinion on it being the real deal or not would depend on the level of credibility each individual lends to those who produced it. Me personally? Part of me figures the Clintons would not have looked the other way if there was a genuine issue with Obama's birth, especially at the moment the DNC chose Obama over Hillary (remember they asked her to 'step down' after a handful of very close states primaries). But another part wonders, then why all mystery surrounding The President's past? Why fight to hide the birth cert in the first place? Why not even release the hospital's name till recently (we know exactly where every other president was born) Why not release the school/college transcripts & papers? (he got the job, who cares if he failed a couple subjects). Many people without any nefarious feelings or ill regard towards this subject are genuinely interested to see what the Current President of the USA got in Social Studies, Math, Geography, History, etc. What happened to "we will be the most transparent White House in history"? Those defending the secrecy (not really here in CC, but in a great many other boards), stop defending for 10 seconds, and ask yourself why would anyone choose to become one of the most PUBLIC FIGURES ON EARTH, then refuse to shine a light own their own past?

Thanks Bill! Awesome little engine, I was smiling the whole time the video was running. Thanks for posting it up.

Exactly why I posted the pic, and asked "what do you guys see", before I posted my own observations. If you disagree with my observations, that's terrific, maybe you see something I missed, but post up your observations so I can understand your reasoning.

Lots more questions than answers on this one, time lag, no time lag (was it done on 5/1, or mid April?) Pakistan was in on it, Pakistan wasn't (first Pakistan took partial credit, then they were p!ssed we did it) He had a gun, he didn't have a gun (seems like everyone now says he didn't) he used a woman as a shield, no he didn't (also seems like they've rescinded the original statement of using a human shield) we're gonna release a pic, no we're not. Then this pic, taken in the Situation Room during the raid, and released by the White House: What do you guys see? I see a PO'd President (no one else standing ANYWHERE near him), that looks like he was late to the party (everyone else seated has a laptop in front of them, but him) smaller side chair pulled up to table wearing golf clothes (golfing during the raid?) Draw your own conclusions.

Thanks for posting the direct link (I looked around pickuptrucks.com, and didn't see it). Since it includes 2 entire quarter skins, and the whole bed floor (pic on side of box): I'm guessing it won't be cheap. Atleast you save a few bucks on the 1/2 cab, since only the rear part is new. I wonder if there's any way to defeat the passengers side airbag (other than depending on the seat's weight sensor do it). It would stink to get one of these, then never be able to take a kid for a ride in it. I agree the minivan engine is lame, though a stripped 2wd 5spd version would be a neat little daily driver. Since JK axles are already wide as he!!, swapping in a real truck rear would be simple, and you could do something about rear load capacity at the same time.
