  1. I'll check Summit, they have a distribution center in GA. May have to put that on the wish list though. Need to get mine outta the basement before the wife kills me.
  2. Very nice, what brand is the pod? Looks like it fits the A-pillar molding very well.
  3. The only thing that did not work when I replaced the fuse box was the reverse lights which is why I was so frustrated. I did yank the interior and all of the suspension and axles afterward, so like you I thought I had a broken wire somewhere. I figured the easiest way to pin point the break was to start at the front and work back. referred to your diagram and double checked for power at the brake light switch (pink wire) Good there. The next logical spot to check seemed to be the connector for the turn signal switch on the column (I did replace the column after the Fuse box). I'm all set to check it out and notice that one side of the connector is slightly cocked on one side. I pushed them together and hear a slight click. Bingo I have now have signals and brake lights. The connection was probably never completely seated and with me working under the dash I managed to pull it apart just enough to break the contacts. Time spent on this yesterday-3.5 hrs+. Time spent today-less than 10 mins. I guess cooler heads do prevail. I appreciate the input, it pointed me in the right direction. BTW great diagram, I'm gonna save that one.
  4. RE 4.5 front and HellCreek 4.5 rear with 265/75R16s.
  5. Last winter I upgraded the booster and master cylinder to ones from a '99 WJ. Had some issues bleeding the system, but after bleeding the proportioning valve I got all the air out of the system. Yesterday I cranked it up and the booster was hissing. Crap. So I pulled everything off. Went to the parts store and found that a WJ booster cost more than both a 95-96 XJ booster and new master cylinder. :fs1: So I bought the 95-96 Booster/MC. I got replaced everything and bleed it out. I realized that I didn't have enough brake fluid so I headed back to the parts house for some more. :fs1: Bled out the system and finally good to go. I turned to the brake light switch. I modified a newer model brake light bracket, installed a generic Painless brake light switch and depressed the pedal. Nothing. Jumpered the brake light wires and still nothing. Tried the turn signals. Nothing there either. First I checked the bulbs or that was plan. Seems my son came by and borrowed every torx bit I own. Back to the parts store. I did pick up some bulbs while I was there, but after removing the housings I found the bulbs were new. The front lights and the dash lights/indicators work normally. The only thing I have in the back are the running lights (both top and bottom). The wires for the signal/brake lights do not have power coming to them. My MJ is a 4.0/5spd and I had to replace the fuse block last summer due to a leaking slave cylinder. I also repaired the front signals and running lights. There are no other electrical issues at all. What I've checked/done today... 1. Replaced the bulbs 2. Checked the fuse, Circuit has power on either side of the fuse. 3. Redid the ground at the LR housing 4. Remove the rigged up trailer harness and repaired the wires. 5. Checked the connector behind the LR tire, no corrosion or damage, looks new inside. After cleaning the ground at the LR housing the running lights will dim slightly when the turn signals are turned on. Is it another ground I'm missing? I worked through lighting problems on both my kids XJs, but this has me stumped. I'm out of ideas, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  7. That's cool, the last drive in closed here in Feb.
  8. Very nice.
  9. The seatbelts are made by RetroBelt, they're made to update the belts in most any vintage car or in this case Jeep. The retractor can be mounted in a variety of ways, and that's the only way they'd fit/work. The LED conversion is an easy "plug and play" operation. 1. standard 94 bulb 2. single old style led. good for shifter lights etc. 3. 4 SMD LED bulb, like I'm using Front view. The 74's are similar but only use 3 SMD LEDs Ebay, search for "94 smd led". Those are the ones I use for the cluster lights. The indicators are inexpensive 94 single standard LEDS. The heater controls and lights to the left are 74s I bought a 3 smd for the heater controls and the left hand warning lights are 74 standard single bulbs color matched to the position. Shift light=amber etc. When I search "94 smd led" there are over 1500 listings. Sorry to ask you to do this, but can you be more specific, or maybe post a link from a listing of the proper ones? :dunce: I kind of shorted you on an answer I actually used a mix of LEDs in the cluster. I used SMD LEDs where I needed a lot of light (the gauges and the heater controls). The SMDs I got off Ebay For the 94's behind the gauges (nine total if I recall) I used this seller... http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/xk-led/ One his current listings is below. It's for white, but he has colors available now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-x-T10- ... 3cab0e2fdb For the 1 SMD 74 I needed for the heater controls I bought from this seller... http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ledw ... _auctions/ current listing... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-SMT-LED-74-T5-Mini-Wedge-Bulb-White-12-volt-DC-SMD-/110430624609?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19b62d9b61 The 94's in the turn signals and the 74's in the indicators I bought from this website... http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fmini-wedge.html Why did I buy from so many different sources?... I cheaped out on my initial purchase and bought single wide angle LEDs for everything. For my second purchase I figured which lights needed to be extra bright and bought SMDs to replace those (instrument cluster and heater controls). The LEDs dim very little with the OE dimmer. As the electrician at work explained..."Standard incandescent bulbs are dimmed by varying the voltage with resistance. LEDs can be dimmed using PWM (pulse width modulation)" :???: He suggested wiring something like this... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PWM-dimmer-switch-12v-DC-LED-and-panel-lights-6-amp-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1e5b6ef406QQitemZ130383016966QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories ...into the OE dimmer circuit. Not being able to dim the dash lights in not a big deal to me, but some people are bugged by it. Just wanted you to be aware. Jeff
  10. I've finished with the seat belts and carpet. Had to get a little inventive with the seat belt mounting... Ran a 3/8 grade 8 bolt in from the back side and tweaked the retractor assembly forward a little. The grade 8 bolt with the lock nut should keep every thing in place. Finished... Carpet and back panel installed... The wiring for the amp isn't quite finished. I'm undecided about the Amp, honestly it's a $95 disappointment... Nice and vacuumed, if you install a carpet kit clean up the backing material as you go it's a PITA to get out after it's been stepped on. The carpet has a few wrinkles in it which after time should smooth out. The worst part of the install was the trimming. Jeff
  11. Excellent thinking, I never consider that. Probably just going to end up sticking it in the glove box.
  12. I'm installing new carpet and couldn't remember. Thanks.
  13. I'm tired and I can't for the life of me remember this one. Do the bottom mounts for the rear panel go under or on top of the carpet? Thanks
  14. I've seen and read about some really senseless/useless mods (hell some of them were mine), but brother this one takes the cake. Good luck.
  15. I'd love to have one too, very high cool factor. They pop up here on CL pretty often, and usually for 2k or less- http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/1660073446.html...or a little more $ will get you...http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/1694261641.html
  16. Fitting trim panels and Jackson checking in...
  17. I have a panel mount USB extention cable and I was thinking of mounting it here... ...out of the way and easy access to the memory stick for my sound system. What do you think?
  18. The early warm weather has been some what of a distraction (actually a real big distraction), but I still worked on the interior some. This is probably one of the hardest things I've ever done-cut a hole right dead in the middle of a carpet kit I paid $150 for... I realized that I didn't have a replacement inside boot and the one I had was mangled... I found a random import boot I had laying around a made one... Some progress... Mucking around with the mini console...
  19. Ebay or here www.superbrightleds.com, best prices are on Ebay.
  20. I like the LEDs, I had originally planned on doing it in red. I bought cheap red LEDs and it turned out a dim pink mess. I bought brighter pure white to replace them and I'm pretty pleased. I wish I was, but my wife has laid down the law. I have to get the MJ drivable. SOON. She's tired of hauling my sorry butt around. Let me know how it turns out.

  22. Thought I'd throw up a couple small updates instead of one huge one. I finished the speaker install and I've repaired the wiring harness for the radio. I did a test run for the sound system the display on the new system made the dash lights look a dingy yellow. Pic of the old cluster with the lights on. Ignoring the last item on the list (and my wife), I added a face lift for the gauge cluster. I started with some T10 194 LEDs. On the right some 4-smd bulbs for the gauges, 9 total and on the left single bulb LEDs 1 in blue for the high beam indicator and 2 in green for and the turn signal indicators. The gauge surround back was no longer blue instead it was more of an aged yellow. Gave the back a fresh coat of white... ...and the front a coat of SEM black. Installed and lit up. The lights are now a crisp white, the glare around the edges is from my cheap camera. The lights for the heater controls and the warning lights have not came in yet. I finished running the wires for the sound system tonight and I'm starting the carpet install tomorrow evening.
  23. Thanks. I hope to have it on the road May 1. I know this feeling well...
