  1. I've got to go to the lame Jeep Forum to get updates? Boooooo! :ack: Willy if you don't update here, we won't know u updated, this thread will get burred in a few days and after 22 pages why would you stop? :P Cause it's a PITA updating both sites, but here you go... The following is from the past couple months up until tonight: I've spent the time I've had over the past few weeks working on my engine wiring. Standard issue Renix relays/fusible links... Wonderful factory splices... The idea is to do away with the fusible links and work out any issues in the underhood harness making notes as I went... The splices I would unwrapped, cleaned, soldered and then re-wrapped with some 3M silicone tape... Underway...
  2. updates are here for those still interested... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f22/my-88-comanche-886068/
  3. Spotted this jewel on CL today... Gave him a call, and $80 later I scored this... Paint's a little rough, but no dents or dings and the mounts are solid. Pretty pumped about finding one been looking for a while.
  4. I've spent a little of my last days working on this factory mess. Thinking about a PDC of some type? I'll post up the end results instead of boring you with the useless details. My boys and my niece and nephew are now driving... I may have had a small influence on their vehicle choices. My niece's MJ parked down the street... This came in today. Got to represent...
  5. Thanks, I'll keep you updated.
  6. They are made by Crown, they went on export XJs. Part numbers are (Left) 56000853 and (Right) 56000852. Picked mine up at Morris 4x4 Center, The pics for the lights on their website are wrong.
  7. A quick recap of the face lift... Before... After... :cheers2:
  8. At some point someone had mentioned posting up some details when I installed the H4 lights and harness. I picked the AutoPal lights up on Ebay. Glass housings and roughly half the price Hellas or IPFs. Also picked up a harness. The harness and hardware... I ran the harness in front of the radiator, with the relay and power connectors on RH side... On the LH side, tape up the old head light plug and push it in behind the bucket and out of the way. Pull the new socket through. Both new light sockets have to be grounded. The ground wire on the new harness is kind of short, but the bolt on the upper radiator support is in the perfect spot. I did this on both sides... On the RH side the harness plugs into the old head lamp socket. It's recommended that you tape this connection as well... And push the new connector through the back of the bucket... Plug in the relays... And make the positive power connection. I'm going to run these through an add on fuse box instead of straight off the battery... Installing the lights is pretty straight forward... Install the bulbs... and the rubber boot... Install the assemblies and you're done...
  9. Before I installed the signals I did a basic wiring mod to the signals I found on MADXJ. Before parking lights off... Before parking lights on... Stock wiring before... After mod... After parking lights off... After parking lights on... More details here...MADXJ
  10. Uhh, so, can you tell us where you got them?? Thanks........ http://www.jerryjohnsonmotors.com/
  11. I've been confined to a few hours at night to work on the MJ, so a quick update. I got to work on a little more of the interior... Finished the replacement amp install. Older model Alpine, just need to find the end cover screws... Stripped, painted and reassembled the front bumper. Along with the end caps, grill, light bezels a few interior pieces etc... Got a package from Morris Automotive, with the export front signals I ordered. I like... :cheers2:
  12. Installed my dusty front skid tonight... Also double checked the tightness on the suspension bolts and set the track bar length. I picked this stuff up last winter... and now I'm finally starting the install.
  13. Tore down the rest of the front end and started painting today...
  14. Some progress on the front... Before... Stripped... Installed Caddie horns (loud as hell). Cleaner... Test fitting the Detours light bar and lights. The lights are Hella 500s on the inside and some leftover Westin 5.75 inch lights on the outside. :cheers2:
  15. I've been looking for inner fender liners for months. Everything at the JYs are busted up etc. I found these today. Not bad quality and the fit is decent enough. The best part is they were only $12 each.
  16. The interior to date still got a couple of panels to install... I'm planning a face lift along with the headlight install, aux lights etc. Showing some age... a little rust. and some dings. More on this in the next few days.
  17. Since I'm running a bench seat, I'm using a mini console around the shifters. I needed somewhere out of the way to mount my USB outlet and I stumbled on this at the JY... On the right is the stock console and the one on left is the one I picked up. It's from a '95 XJ Base model 2WD. Notice on the front of the console Jeep added some length to it fill in the area between the console and the bottom of the dash... Which ended up being perfect for my USB outlet and an additional 12v charging port for my phone. All cleaned up and installed... And with the USB stick plugged in.
  18. I spent a lot of this summer on a lot of other projects, but I have been finishing up on some grunt work on the MJ. I reinstalled the door panels and replaced the outside door handles. Older pic of the door panels... Old handles... and the new style. I also ran down some rattles in the doors and readjusted the drivers door. Doors open a lot smoother and easier now. Finished the stereo install. I've decided to go with a different amp, and I'm finishing up the install on that today... The WJ booster went south on me, so I replaced them with 95-96 XJ units. The old style brake light switch requires grinding on the end of the booster push rod in order to fit. I solved that with an HO cruise control bracket and a simple painless wiring switch. The switch... After installing the brake light switch I found I had no rear lights. I spent 2 or 3 days trying to tack down the short to the rear lights and it turned out to be nothing more than a loose connection on the steering column connector. Prewired my aux. light switches... ...finished up the window switches... ...and buttoned up all the other loose wires etc under the dash.
  19. My friends dad's. V-6, column shift, new tires. http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/cto/1891997633.html
  20. Wow.
  21. Congratulations, CW. Thanks for sharing your well documented build. Also seems like a real good time to throw out an extra  for all the advice and info you've given me over the past year. Jeff
  22. Thanks for the replies, but I was hoping to find a new pad to match the clutch/brake.
  23. Anyone have a source for a replacement? Or fitment from other brands?
  24. An oven cleaner like Easy Off etc.
