  1. The bottom of the header, where the down pipe bolts up is also different.
  2. Busted a front shaft in a stock 715, numerous parts in my custom 60 in my YJ.
  3. I'd steer away from using 715 axles. Closed knuckles, odd 6 lug pattern, small, coarse spline axles, and they are not very upgrade friendly. And 60s are far from bulletproof. Ask me how I know.
  4. I don't remeber what it looked like, but Hesco used to have a MJ shop truck, 2wd w/ blown 4.7 stroker. That would be a lot of fun.

    Gladiator

    When I buy a Gladiator, it'll have a 6 spd, if available.

1600 is way too hot on a diesel. Not too bad for a few seconds, but no way you would want to stay in the throttle. I let out about 1350-1400. I feel pretty comfortable running sustained 1300. Oh, as for the auto tranny, in my PSD, after a little work to it, it'll bark the tires when it shifts into 2nd gear!

TS performance has a module out for it.

I don't know about the obsessed part, but I will be at the dealership ordering one as soon as they announce when they will be available. Given that it will be like the pics w/ the CRD and the 6 spd.
  9. Since you said that, you'll probably have a sensor fail next trip, or that's just how my luck goes. Last month, I wheeled the yj three weekends in a row. I was supposed to wheel the next two weekends, but on the third weekend, my radiator mounting strap broke on an uphill section and let the radiator fall into the fan. Sucked, but nothing I could really prepare for. Not bad for damage though in 7 days of hard wheeling. Oh, and chances are those spring will be fine, you should see mine when it is flexed up  but so far so good
  10. The bed in that pic is bobbed, hence looking so short. I'll second the Toyota rust comment, good luck finding a rust-free 1st gen bed.

    That looked like fun :beerhead:

    Certi Fit

I've bought quite a bit from them, some parts fit well, others not as well.
  13. Gotcha, don't get me wrong I like taking the MJ down there for a relaxing weekend camping and wheeling. It is a nice area, guess I been caught up in the more extreme side of things lately. Maybe I'll drive the comanche down there next weekend.
  14. I've been, but only cause it is relatively close. I would definately be disappointed if I drove more than 2 hrs to get there.
  15. You drove from Ohio to wheel at UNF?!
  16. You mean full compression? The shackle would move farther awy from the tc when suspension drops. This is the same setup I have on my YJ, and it has been working well for a few years now.
  17. Easy now, don't go talking crazy
  18. Don't worry too much about the weight, atleast it is unsprung weight, won't make it anymore unstable.
  19. Put the 4.7 in the MJ, it'll be alot cooler.
  20. I'd guess more around 6-700lbs. A dana 60 stock weighs in around 650.
  21. The first person that comes to mind is Fred Perry, who owns Clemson 4wd. His latest jeep is running this combo. I don't think there is a whole lot of info on the web about these conversions, but I think Fred would be happy to help answer any questions.
  22. Limit your uptravel before it would hit. I would think narrowing them would make any clearance issues worse.
  23. Exactly, spring under will help fight axle wrap. 2-3" in the front w/ custom long arms.
  24. Hell no, go w/ portals. If I was going to do it, I'd get the axles, mock them up under the jeep, then decide how much lift you absolutely have to have.
  25. Way too much lift. I wouldn't go more than 2-3" of lift, do a set of long arms, and cut the fenders. Portals alone are going to sit the jeep 5-6" over stock.
