i can't find the right info in NAXJA and CC searches so. bottom line: part time indicator lamp came on and won't go off info: jeeps always been hard to pull into 4wheel like the linkage was stuck so i WD40 it... nuetral jeep off easy to pull up now move into 4hi>2hi>4hi>2hi turn on jeep part time lamp is on... ¿que? so i back out thinking its just acting up and it stays on. i do a burn out. one skid. take it to gravel lot try shifting through all t-case positions lamp still on. burn out in 4lo 2 skids 4hi 2 skids try jeep on incline with front on pavement rear on gravel burns out slow to move DEFINATELY not in 4wheel I'm thinking vacuum disconnect?

this is totally off-topic from mj gas mileage but its completely nuts so ill post it anyways my bro is running a 90 renix 4.0 XJ with 220+k miles on it blowby like crazy bad compression gas gets in the oil (way past due for a rebuild but a strokers on its way) pushin 33" superswampers with 3.55s and AW4 and he gets... drumroll 19-24mpg :nuts:

you check the clutch master cylinder? theyre prone to going out but ive never heard of it makin noise... just a thought. -nick

i was thinking 4" angle grinder but thats just a personal favorite much cheaper than a sawzall. cutting is just more fun than wrenching anyways. -
i must be lucky. ive got a puegeot with radio when it feels liek it and mine doesnt make any noise at all... however that 4.0 ive got thats running a low of 250* if I'm at a redlight or in traffic for more than 30 seconds... thats a problem in itself.

What exactly is involved in puttin a dana 44 from a 87 XJ in my 89 MJ to replace a D35? i know the spring perches are off, but how much? i can't seem to find any good pics or threads by searching so i figured id try my own thread for once. also the shock mounts.. will the stock ones work with the XJ44 ones? thanks in advance for any help/info. Nick

sounds like you need a custom rear bumper tied into the "frame" that comes up along the rear. thats what I'm gettin made by a shop down here

what would happen if i accidently pulled the stick uot of R into N before the clutch was all the way in? cause i THINK i did that the other day and i got a horrible SLAM but no revv changes and no smell and nothing else but previously that day the clutch had been acting REALLY weird. so that might not be it... BA10 hit the fan? i hope not.

yea we didnt have deep sockets... had to hacksaw the u bolts... lol didnt think about the 100 ftlbs of torque... those things SHOT off when you got down to like 1/16in of metal left :shock:

went up to the downtown pull-a-part today in atlanta... A XJ DANA 44 WITH THE SAME GEARS AS ME haaaaaaaaaaaaallelujia 75 bucks and a PITA later. its mine just thought id share my luck :-D
