?'s about Cooling System Swap
64 Cheyenne replied to Shane's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I pretty much did the same, although I got rid of the heater valve entirely - haven't had any problems with the heat or A/C yet. Got an overflow bottle from AutoZone: Been done on all the XJs and MJs my "band" owns. Works well. We got all the parts from Summit - filler neck and overflow bottle delivered for bout $55 +/- got to keep stock closed radiator. Truthfully, the radiator isn't the problem, the pressure bottle is. Eliminate the bottle, fill it an alternative way (remote filler neck) move on... -
Chrysler. I'm in the same boat. I'm not putting an internal back in though, had enough of those.

Seen a decent looking one on the board here, it was from a S-10. don't think there was mods to it.

ISO rebuildable HO connecting rods, believe "544" casting. Looking for a set that has bearings intact (shows that the rods weren't hammered on). don't need the pistons, OK if they are shipped with the rods, will be removed at the machine shop.

tell me if i'm crazy ........
64 Cheyenne replied to shawn's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the idea, but don't know why it would need to be "stockish" or not have a lot of flex. Isn't the reason for the disconnect is so that you can have lots of flex? Wasn't there an aftermarket unit available, you just twisted a knob kind of like a hub, so that you didn't have to crawl underneath? Still a push-button disconnect would be cool. -

don't forget to check your grounds, could be the source of many electrical gremlins. -
Sometimes I feel I have a lot to say... This time I'll just say Thanks Guys!

I've bought a few used pumps online, suggest airing out a few days then packaged in a heavy doubled zip lock bag. Never had no complaints with the 2 I've bought so far, 1 shipped USPS, the other UPS.

As the title says, 1978? was my last year of school (9th grade-didn't finish). Dropped out or booted out, I don't know, I didn't care. Never went to a school dance, never got to take a date to the Prom. I got my GED while I was in the army in 1984. How things have changed. 33 years later. Monday I graduated (with honors) from Chief Dull Knife College in Lame Deer MT. I received an Associate of Arts degree. (general studies) I'm enrolled for fall semester MSUB online seeking a business/science degree. About a month ago I presented a science poster at MSU Bozeman, in 1997 while I was doing some roofing on that college (MSU Bozeman) I never ever thought I would be a student. Never thought I would be presenting a scientific poster with a room full of really smart people. I thought I wasn't smart enough, couldn't afford it, whatever. Wrong... My advise to others about school, Make the call there are so many people out there whose job it is to get you into school (find funding) and to help you succeed. I did.

don't really have an answer, just a couple questions. V8? If so I'm interested, if not why?

88 Transfer Case shift linkage
64 Cheyenne replied to Bansheemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it's just a bolt, can't you take a pic of it? Heck if it's just a bolt, somebody probably got one laying around. probably let you have it for cheap or free +shipping. can't know unless we know which one it actually is. -
MC is full not sure how to check tranny fluid, as for the tranny type, I have a 4.0 engine, ax-15 I guess.. I have a picture of it posted somewhere I will upload it when I find it... Maybe that will help... The big bolt that a socket wrench connects to is the fill/fill to level correct? I have some Lucas tranny leak stop I was going to add. My dad was saying there is a filter that needs to be changed now and then and the last time it was changed could have been 10 years ago.... What would be involved in changing that? And what type of oil do I use? I think I read somewhere on here to use 75/w90 oil. Thanks Do you have a tranny leak? Manual tranny - no filter BA-10 - 80/90 whatever "gear oil" AX-15 - 30wt synthetic Would be helpful to know the exact tranny.

88 Transfer Case shift linkage
64 Cheyenne replied to Bansheemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd suggest going to the JY and just getting the whole thing from an XJ. don't think the tranny matters, but make sure the linkage is from your same TC IE:231 or 242. -
Basics first, MC full, tranny full. BTW what tranny?

Internal tire balancing???
64 Cheyenne replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've had them in my 31 10s for over a year now, works great, won't ever pay for balancing again. I'd even use them in my street tires. -
AX-15 internal clutch slave?
64 Cheyenne replied to Walkenvol's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
TJ, MJ, XJ AX-15 BH all the same. PIA to fix internal slave, if you can pull/install tranny TC combo shouldn't really be an issue. Matter of convenience. Most replacement slave assembly's say to replace clutch master at the same time or warranty will be void, new MC= new clean fluid= longer service life. Consensus is to only buy the Mopar parts for long trouble free life. Either internal or external. -
My 1992 HO has an XJ pump... What now?

Clutch master cylinder saga
64 Cheyenne replied to MJRemi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OEM from the stealership for an XJ, if you have to you can cut the plastic line, use compression fittings to mate it to the metal line. Myself, I just use aftermarket, keep an eye on it. On another note, I'm interested in Quote: is being professionally replaced with a Cadillac fuse panel and relocated to the passenger side. How, why, pics, cost etc. as I've never heard of this being done. Are you sure it isn't a big money roller coaster ride? Is not going to cost more than the truck is worth (going this route). I know we spend a lot on our trucks, I'm over 5K on my 87 and I still only drove it once when I got it so being in the eye of the beholder is it worth it? Reason I ask this way is if I pay big bucks into my truck, I want it to go into the truck, not somebodys pocket.
