Bad Starter, Now Nothing...
noboundaries.jd replied to noboundaries.jd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
battery terminals are good. starter is mounted right. I did readjust the cables to be certain nothing was rubbing. -
Bad Starter, Now Nothing...
noboundaries.jd replied to noboundaries.jd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
after I thought about it my starter relay theory did not make sense. was checking for shorts when I got a zero ohm on the F terminal on the starter relay. the corresponding relay checks out however, the corresponding sockets for 86, 87a and 30 all zero without the relay in place. I am waaaay outside of my comfort zone -

it would be blowing fuses if I had a short on the switched side of that relay. right? -
Bad Starter, Now Nothing...

checked all my grounds and theyre good. opened the cab and dome lights work. makes me think a relay has reset. turned the key and BAM, lost everything again. pulled the neg battery cable and let it sit for a few minutes. opened the cab again and dome lights on again. looking at my '88 power supply diagram it looks as if the starter relay were to go, so would everything else. can I ohm it out to test it? -
ok. I had a feeling my starter was about to go and yesterday, it happened. thank God I was home. it took me an hour to find one on Oreilly's website, pull mine, call a friend, get it tested and buy a new one, go get groceries for dinner, and reinstall. love those 4.0's! however, when I went to start it this time, I got a click and then lost all power. please help. waiting for rain to stop so I can start checking fuses, relays and wires. the complete loss of power has me a little lost though. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Comanche's For Sale In My Area.
noboundaries.jd replied to robbie95's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
that '88 was/ is mine. thanks for the post. I haven't been too serious about selling it but, I feel the time is coming -
think I'm about to order some parts and figured i'd handle this while I'm at it. since no one has specified years, and these are the most prominent that I have found, are these what you guys are referring to? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adjustable-1-or-2-Rear-Drop-Shackles-1999-07-Chevrolet-GMC-Half-Ton-Truck-558-/111079963373?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AChevrolet&hash=item19dce1baed&vxp=mtr

negative. shes good and tight but, thanks! i just backed it out onto the street and am waiting for a buddy to come give me a tow. I'm back and forth about whether or not he towing me to the mechanic, or to my house. i have not used a mechanic in 10 years, was a hell of a run. i need this thing running.

Seafoam, Good Or Bad?
noboundaries.jd replied to robbie95's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mine have smoked profusely, but only for about a minute or so. I've only done it at night because our neighborhood is fire shy. No tornados, no floods, no eathquakes...a good wildfire is what does it out here. Last time the entire cloud spewed out and settled over my neighbors house for about 15 minutes...they weren't home. This was about a week ago, just before I pulled my manifolds. The insides of my engine are shiny, squeaky clean now. Only thing is, don't want to be revving my engine and wake the neighbors up.. It's a bunch of black folks who tattle on everything, I threw a piece of bologna out on the sidewalk for the alley cat and we got wrote up.. so gonna refrain from doing ANYTHING in this stupid place. kind of ironic! what side of town are you in!? -
thanks ComancheKid. i did seafoam it a few times when i first brought it home and have heard it can eff up an O2 sensor however, that was at least a month ago. charging phone now. will get a video of it later to post up.

bump. guys i really need some help with this. it sucks that the Jeep is stuck at my folks. i went by after work and pulled all my harness disconnects topside and cleaned them out. double checked my vacuum lines and clocked the battery voltage. wish my phone had not been dead as i had planned to make a video of it doing it's thing. i did not expect much from what i did today but i fired it up anyways. she ran beautifully for probably 3 minutes and then started to buck so i shut it off. i loaded my socket set into the Subie and plan to hit up my JY after work tomorrow for a MAP and whatever else i find. what could this be? what would allow it to idle perfectly cold and then turn to shiiza?

Seafoam, Good Or Bad?

i run it through every car i have/ have had. -
don't tempt me!!

well, that wasnt it. for $71 i could get a pump with the sock and all the fixins including the sending unit gasket so i got it. i also swapped the filter and cleaned the harness connections. she purred like a singer until...went to crap again. kind of burped and then it stalled. i fired it right back up and it was really rough so i cut it off. on the plus side i got home and jumped straight in the shower where my wife promptly brought me a shower beer!

I'm not sure how much pressure the fuel rail has. ive read many threads about similar issues that all suggest checking it. is it 39psi vacuum disconnected and 31psi connected?
-
just got from hpneymoon and it is officially over. Jeep running like shiiiza. let dad borrow while gone and he informed me this was happening. said gas looked like 1/4 tank and i informed that i was pretty sure 1/4 = 0/4 so he put 5 gals in and it ran fine...in the driveway. i got home and hardly made it oyut of the neighborhood before it went to crap. idled fine at startup but then acted like it was missfiring and running rich. i had already swapped wires so i did plugs, cap and rotor. ran fine at startup but went to crap before it could get to temp. even stalled once. ignition is solid so I'm thinking fuel delivery. fuel rail has pressure but I'm questioning the pump and/ or filter. when i got the Jeep i topped it off before heading home and it leaked a fair amount of fuel out of the tank where the pump mounts. don't know if that would be related but, I'm sure i could benfit from pulling the pump and replacing that gasket, may as well do it all while I'm there. any thoughts?

XJ soundbar in a MJ?
noboundaries.jd replied to wolfpackjeeper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ive been pondering that same idea. pulled enough of the trim from a 2001 a couple of weeks back to be able to see behind it. i don't see why it would be a problem as long as you arent hoping to salvage your current headliner fabric. you will absolutely need a bit more fabric to stretch over the soundbar. unless you pull the whole headliner i would cut it at least 1 1/2 feet in front of the speakers, pull your current MJ headliner, remove fabric from both and fit soundbar to MJ backer. cover with new fabric, run speakers leads and power for lamp and reinstall. -

Help Grounding Dash+

the ground is top left corner of pic, my jumper is cable with yellow terminal. ill have to test the module to find out. -
i would assume yu put new wheels/ tires on? if thats the case then i would assume they are wider wheels/ tires? and if thats the case then your pass side should not have the profile it did before lift, wheels/ tires. see where i am going with this? fact of the matter being the factory length TB was in no way intended to keep your axle centered after that much lift. in fact with that much lift and a factory TB you SHOULD be sticking out of your driver's side wheel well.
