  1. Funny you should mention the "damaged bolthead extractors".....I now own a set ;) Went to do a simple oil change on the other car Saturday, and disaster struck. Fill plug stripped (my own stoopid fault, I've been using a 12 pt box end wrench on it for the last year or so). After screwing around for 2 hours with everything from vise grips to pipe wrenches, to files..and about 10 beers..I took a trip to the Sears. They had them on sale for $14.99 :D Once I had them in hand, the plug came out in about 3.4 seconds. They are the kind of thing that you don't buy when you don't need them, but are the ONLY thing that works when you do. Add them to the list of random tools in my box that'll probably get used once, maybe twice :D Jeff edit: pics the pan plug (destroyed) Image Not Found the extractors Image Not Found
  2. I'm going from (fuzzy) memory, but now that I think about it more, they should be on the back side, like you have them  The wire does go around the clip on the rear shoe, then down and hooks onto the clip. There is a tiny, wavy washer that fits onto the adjuster (where the two pieces slide together) that's easy to loose...do you have those on both of them? Not sure what they're called, but I assume they are there to prevent the adjuster from moving without being bumped by the adjusting clip. :dunno: (they're like a spring-washer)
  3. X2 Make sure they are turning in the correct direction. The knurled-wheel end of the adjuster should be on the "front" side, and as the adjuster plate pushes on the wheel, it screws the adjuster clockwise to expand it. Jeff
  4. It's good to hear that I'm not the only redneck on here with a piece of 2X4 inside the passenger door :D I'll get around to replacing the regulator some day, but for now, the wood works...should be in a FAQ sticky ;) Jeff
  5. My mother inlaw gave me an envelope. Inside it was another envelope with "Gift Certificates for Chesterfield Auto Parts" (the local U-pull 'yard) written on it......and 5 $10 bills inside it. I laughed my azz off :D Jeff
  6. Wanna buy my wife a Jeep for Christmas? Go ahead...I won't stop ya :D J/K....that was pretty smooth. How many MJ bonus points is that gonna get ya?? Jeff

    Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all y'all.... I found 'net access at the inlaws place! Turns out they got cable access a couple months ago :D The holiday isn't turning out half as bad as I expected.... Jeff

  9. Title says it all......his arms literally exploded. He was shooting himself up with junk directly into his biceps and got out of control. Then came the infections. He attempted to drain the pus and whatnot by himself, even videotaped himself doing it. Poke around on the intarweb some, I'm sure you'll find the story...and the pics. Jeff
  10. Did you happen to catch the special on the Discovery channel about this nutjob (and what eventually happened to him)? Eeeeeewwww! :ack: I almost puked.... Jeff
  11. OK....well maybe not *that* quickly :D But I'd rather swap an axle than have to clean wheel bearing grease off my hands ;)
  12. I saw a news story about this organization last night, and checked out the website this morning. I singed on to volunteer if a need arises in my area. They do everything from ground-up house construction, to retrofitting existing servicemembers homes if they become handicapped, to make the houses more accessible. They also accept business dontations for materials. Please pass this along to anyone you might think would be intersted in helping out. It's a nationwide organization, and you can sign up to volunteer on the site under the "Donate" link. Your name gets added to a database, and they contact you when/if a project comes up in your area. 13. The 2WD beam axle and the 4WD axle both mount in exactly the same places. Everything, and I mean everything, is the same :D Jeff
  14. Here's to our newest member, DRPLOZZ..... http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/prof ... 40e9489676
  15. Inner seals, some wheel bearing grease, and a couple new cotter pins, so long as the races in the rotor are serviceable. Remember to preload the new bearings as you tighten the spindle nut by spinning the wheel backwards as you tighten (when snug). You could probably swap axles in the time it's gonna take you to do the bearings, tho ;) Jeff
  16. Tranny mounts are different (AX15 is cheaper, too, and alot easier to source :D ) Crossmember should stay in the same position, but if not, there should be factory holes along the framerail already there to reposition it. CPS stays in the same place, on the bellhousing just like the BA10, and the external slave bolts onto the outside of the bellhousing. Make sure it comes with all the bits and pieces (pushrod, lever, TO bearing, retaining clip, etc.) IIRC, you'll need a different pilot bearing, and maybe a new clutch. I think the input shaft has a different spline count and OD (?) I'm sure somebody else can verify that  Jeff

  19. For simplicity's sake, I would just swap in another TBI 2.5 and call it good. You can swap in a later model MPI one complete but you'll need the whole harness and ECU (or you could use just a short block and reuse your top end). I grabbed a complete 2.5 from a guy on NAXJA (for free, but I had to drive 11 hrs to get it :D ) a couple summers ago....it's sitting in the garage up in PA waiting to go into mine when either 1) the original blows up, and/or 2) when it his 200K miles. I'm at 173K now, and no pending signs of explosion yet, except for a slapping timing chain that gets louder by the day  They really are bulletproof, like Oiz said. Jeff
  20. I can get them, but I won't be able to do anything with them until after Christmas
  21. I dunno, that's why I'm'a asking :dunno: I mean, they're just hanging there, saying "pull me...pull me..."
  22. What about SUA Dakota leaves? There's a '94 4 cyl 2WD Dakota sitting in the 'yard now that's been freed of the rear axle, and the leafpacks are just dangling there, waiting for somebody (me?) to come along and nip them....for $13 a pack, are they worth anything? (I've got a new-to-me set of 4WD MJ packs to go under mine when I SOA soon, but if anyone can use these Dakota packs I'll get them) Jeff
  23. just ribbin' ya a little bit.... ;) glad you got it done, and it works. Tranny swaps will just keep getting easier now, every time you do them :D Jeff
  24. Correct...or so I thought. Jeff
