first shoot them with penetrating oil......then do it again about an hour later.... I used plastic ones on my last engine swap on a bronco.... if there is room take a small hammer, like your wife's hammer she had before you were married..... and tap the disconnect tool into its home.....this will loosen it up and stretch that spring inside....then its just man force......wiggle and swear.....till it comes loose.....

Advice sought. Tatty 1980 J series pickup, should I buy it?

one of the 4wheel rags is doing a buildup on these trucks.... I have always thought jeep hit the design mark pretty well with these trucks....for 1200-or 750 def. a steal.... Always Dave Ramsey the seller, bring cash.....and flaunt it... they'll always bite at a lower offer if they see cash flashing around.....that is if its safe to do so.... Easy truck to work on... change the starter from top of the motor if you want..... -
Just a guess, but being a New Yorker, check the battery and engine grounds, And also check them back into the cable some, I had an XJ that a bad ground, except it was bad about three inches back into under the sheath..... Just an idea....never hurts good luck

anyone ever made a "suburban" out of a Grand Waggy?

I have seen people drop 6bt cummins in these and get great results.....hmmm -
I have been looking for one as well. I second all that info about the 4.7, avoid it... Go with a Laredo package straight 6. the old familiar 4.0 high output, and they are everywhere....and usually with the right searching 4.5-5k which I like.... No leather, but all the power options.... Never driven one, but this seems like the way to go...

So my parts store of preference is Advance Auto Parts, I find their product much better then Autozone and cheaper then O reillys. These are the only real stores in my area.... So a while back I set up a commercial account. This is just an account that allows you to track your purchases like any repair shop would do. I was about to start a big project so the bonus is that is also comes with a % off. This changes based on the amount that you purchase, except here's the kicker... The first month you open it, your discount is the highest that it can be at, till the next month then it is based off your purchase history... (I am almost positive that is how the guy explained it to me) So if you are about to start a project, go set yourself up a commercial account, then make all your purchases, the savings will be awesome, especially right now in this economy. It does not help to anything in the front aisles of the stores, mostly parts, alt, rads, engine parts....stuff like that... Have fun, and good luck....

90eliminator replied to moparmatt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just had mine go out and I just went to Advance Auto Parts and ordered the higher output one. I believe it is $80 maybe...??? But be prepared to convince the counter guys that you are right that it will fit and they are wrong.... Just a heads up... Some are fantastic, my brother works at one....other counter guys are computer readers.....thats all... -
can you explain a bonded title.....???
-
I have a 90 eliminator that is all ready to go, but the lady at the title office says that she cannot read the title number, Title is old.....original title.... So now she says that I need to apply for a lost or new title through the previous owner. The problem is that the original owner is in Chicago, 4 hours away, and I do not have any of his information, since I bought the truck about 6 months ago.... Any ideas..... P.S. if you want to PM me with anything that you don't want on the bulletin board that would be very cool....

who knows 6.5 diesels?
90eliminator replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
where in Iowa are you, My 6.5 froze up on me, turned out to be the fuel, so I dumped some power service 911 stuff in it, did a great job, also had it towed to a heated shop.... Maybe a meineke or a exhaust place would let you put it in overnight. My 6.5 currently is sitting in my driveway doing the same thing, she cranked slow and that was it, I have not done anything too it yet, but probably will have to wait till it heats up, hopefully this weekend...... But be careful, my comanche had a dead battery, so I put the charger on it overnight outside, and I blew the battery up, and I mean exploded it....sides, top battery acid all over the place...totally destroyed it.... Never had that happen before, If I had a garage I wouldnt care at all to drag it over here, but I let the wife convince me to buy a house with no garage...that was dumb......S -
